Duck knows if they'll want to do business with us given they seem pretty pissed off with both the club and Edwards, but what players might be of interest to us now?
Kane Wilson probably the main one. 22 year old attacking right wing back. League 2 player of the season. And most importantly of all, free (out of contract). Ebou Adams, an out of contract 26 year old centre mid also decent but probably not got as high a ceiling as Wilson.
He was probably our most consistent player in our last championship campaign and really suits the new manager’s style of play. Never understood why he’s a bit of a boo boy for some.
They are soiling their biodegradeable nappies and more power to FGR as one of the most forward thinking clubs in the land that Wilson who was an England youth international will be on his way here.
What's your source for that? He seems to have made 15 starts as a player on the right side of the pitch and only 3 on the left side this season. He's also right-footed; and it's practically unheard of for a wing-back to play regularly on the opposite flank to their preferred foot. https://www.whoscored.com/Players/408984/Show/Festy-Ebosele
If they also have some of those reusable nappies then they should send them here as part of the Edwards compensation, as some of our fans also clearly need them.
We know Kiko isn't great in the Prem anymore, but when fit he should still be a very good Champ player. If Ebosele is able to start every week at Udinese then I wouldn't mind him doing that, while we bring in Wilson as the backup to Kiko. Then based on their respective performances over the season we should get a decent idea as to which of the two, if any, would be able to take over from Kiko in the following season in case we got promoted again.
Does that include you when yet again your Cassandran foresight turns out to be hopelessly wrong again. Before you execute Operation Houdini ?
I believe @reids shared a statsbomb viz of his positions. I think he’d played the most games in a more advanced role in the right but he’d played more at RB/RWB than LB/LWB. Not going to dig it up though, sorry.
Totally fair. But he is an excellent fair weather player who can help unpick a defensive side, as we saw in the Championship last time. That said, he is now the wrong side of 30. Still, I think he is well-suited to Edwards and the Championship. I’d be philosophical if he left - he wouldn’t be too hard to replace well and cheaply - but I wouldn’t be keen to bin him off.
Adams, Wilson and Cadden are their best players and could all do a job in the Championship. If we change our model to bring in the best of L1 and L2 then I'll be quite happy. We won't though because our transfer budget is £0.
Ah that's where you're wrong. We've also changed our model with negotiations - We basically just steal players and managers now without involving the other club - cheaper that way.
If Edward's believes that Adam's and Wilson are capable of playing Championship football they will join.
