My cat passed away on Thursday, now Sema is in the team, God is chucking the all his **** bombs my way this week. 1-0 to the Spicy Hornets, in memory of Sausage the Cat.
They obviously don’t do anything that involves running at speed, or using your upper body strength for Sema to have impressed Roy in training. Hopefully he’ll be lucky to last until half time until they realise how bad he is.
If Hodgson can get a win from this with both King Ken & Kucka in the starting lineup, he has to be some kind of miracle worker. If not, then he’s just a bit silly selecting them.
Not surprised Sema is playing really even if it’s not ideal. Thought Cleverley might get in ahead of Kucka .
Amazing we’ve had to wait what feels like about 3 months between fixtures, having been utterly shamed in a ‘delete the club’ kind of way last time we played, only to have it ruined an hour before we even kick off.
It’s an ugly, defensive lineup. I’m not surprised to see Sema in but there’s so many better choices than kucka. Femenia will get pushed in the first five minutes and limp off injured If we don’t score first we’re toast
Why Sema? Why Kucka? At least there's no Bachman and Masina. On a side note, why do we have 4 defenders on the bench? I would have preferred another midfielder or attacker instead of one cb.
Oh no. Poor Sausage, many condolences. Ford and Persephone also send feline condolences. Ford and Persephone would also be preferable to Cuddly and Cooker.
According to the BBC, Sema will play on the right up front with JP the other side - shurely a mistake?? That’s the worst position he could play in, short of right central midfield. Not sure about Cathcart starting (why isn’t Sierralta even on the bench?) - but probably a better bet than Kabasele, who showed against Norwich he shouldn’t be playing again this season (and I don’t think many would have said that earlier in the season, myself included!).
Weghorst and Cornet both starting, those last minute bids from Gino for Henderson and Jones really paying dividends.
Feels like Sierralta is done. Nowhere near the lineup since that injury/Chile call up debacle. Zero surprise if he’s shipped off in the summer.
As long as Roy’s brain is still working and he already has a plan to replace Kucka well before 70 minutes when his legs and mind have both melted, I can kind of understand why he’s picked him - especially with Louza only back from afcon for 5 days and coming into what will presumably be a very rigid system they’ve been drilling since the first day Hodgson came in, and against Burnley of all teams. It’s true that we’re short of guts and fight and Kucka does get the closest to offering them, even if they come inevitably tinged with idiocy. But with Sema, he seems to get a sort of credit for being a defensive player just because he’s shyte going forward. He isn’t lazy, it’s true, but he’s very slow, and he’s just as dreadful as anyone at stopping a cross coming in or shepherding the opposition attacker into the correct, less dangerous position. The equalising goal we conceded at Middlesbrough last season being a prime example. And, as ever, that was a league below this in quality, and there was no possibility of it being Maxwell Cornet putting in the ball, unlike this evening. There’s also not much point deploying a defensively diligent wide midfielder for a resolute performance if, in those rare moments you’ve planned to counter and mount an attack, said winger is malcoordinatedly incapable of contributing to it (or even simply not ruining it) Hopefully I’ve cosmically jinxed myself into a King Ken perfect hat trick now.
Defensive line-up as expected, Hence Kucka and Sema. As many have said probably 4411 or 442 and possibly interchanging between the two systems throughout the game. Cleverly will probably replace Kucka when he is knackered, the rest is anyone's guess? Head says a turgid draw at best, but lets all hope for a scrappy win for "The Golden boys"
Remember Sierralta got covid just before the international window - he probably hasn’t trained, and could well even have been symptomatic.
