I still think VAR challenges are the way to go. Offsides can work as now because they are factual. Anything subjective the manager has 2 challenges and when used the ref goes and reviews monitor with a clear mind and no pressure to decide either way.

To be honest, if we could finish 2nd, bank 100m but reject promotion and be the Man City of the Championship, that would probably be my ideal.

There was one where JP jinked in and out of their defenders before softly toe poking it at the keeper and then screaming '**** off' at King.

In the 1500s Norwich was England's 2nd city.

And we didn't even have a club to support, these bedwetters would do well to remember that!

Sorry Moussa, you needed us on Friday in a pivotal game, with the historic invocation of our club's spiritual father, and it didn't help.

Maybe a half empty stadium and some sarcastic singing from a depleted home crowd finding gallows humour in your team's performances is the motivation you and your colleagues need to turn the corner.

I hate that idea, a) managers could use them strategically if they fancy a break, but what then if they've used up their alloted challenges and the ref makes a howler? PS, in cricket it works well, because with borderline calls you keep your review, but football is a lot more subjective, a lot less black or white

I mean, one of them spending 3 hours to learn how to take a decent inswinging corner after 4 years of ****, might help us score 3 more goals this season.

Or you can just put hollow sentiment on insta. Either is good.

I don’t think it’s always the case that the VAR has a more accurate view of the facts. Simple example but we all know tackles look worse in slow motion. The on field ref sees it in real time, In the context of the pace and intensity of the game and while being aware of any niggles or ongoing spats between the players involved. Maybe he’s even had a word with one of them just before. None of that is likely to be obvious to the VAR.

Sometimes the VAR is better placed and they could make the process quicker by sometimes letting the VAR give clear decisions rather than going through the pantomime of going to the monitor. Save that for the more borderline calls.

Or rely on the fans to blame VAR and the ref for an insipid 3-0 home defeat when the fans all left 30 minutes early. Even get Gossip Columnist Leventhal on board to claim, laughably, that the challenge was exactly the same for Pukki and Kane.

    Absolute unparalleled delusion.

I only left just after the 3rd went in, but that was only because I was giving my dad a lift home and he wasn't answering. I wanted to leave after their first.

I thought it was a foul for the first goal from my vantage point in the Rookery, but it almost doesn't matter, for all our huffing and puffing, Norwich looked the more dangerous side all game

I don't think we are going to come to a mutual agreement on this so we shall have to agree to differ.

Chants with a tinge of gallows humour aren't welcome at the moment as my mate found out.

My friend started singing "You're going down with the Watford" just after the second goal and a couple of blokes a row behind took umbrage, was nothing much to get angry about.

And when it came to kicking a pig's bladder, they got it from Diss to Ipswich in no time. Those underfunded peasants in blue never stood a chance, for all their complaints about unequal competition.

Both reasonable opinions and a fair disagreement between you there. However 6 words hole this debate below the waterline in the case of that Palace penalty decision: Kevin Friend and Craig F***ing Pawson. Give 'Poor sod' a bank of monitors, a set of knowledgeable ex-refs to help him, sit him in an air-conditioned Stockley Park bunker and ensure he has a clear line with 'Friend' to run through the sequence of events and yet we all knew that the outcome would be a s***show of immense proportions. That was the one certainty. If worked properly VAR can improve decision-making and fairness but if those running the system lack any feel for the game then the result is pre-determined. To our immense surprise these 2 prize idiots conspired to f*** it up. Who would have thought?

That is the key "VAR being worked properly" which was my basic point way back in my post #781

A very heartfelt post-hopefully a few days on and a new manager (not head coach) and dependable Ray alongside we can at least dream that things " can only get better" and your daughters next trip to see us live will result in a win which tends to make everyone feel better.
