Odd season. Several teams who felt like they had poor years are in there. 49ers, Eagles, Steelers and Raiders. Meanwhile Ravens and Chargers who both sparkled in patches both miss out!
With a clunky Jimmy G throwing INT’s every game, a blunt secondary and a wavering fanbase, it’s quite the shock to see the 49ers in the playoffs, although it took the drive of the century to make it against the Rams. Helps when you have potentially the best WR’s in the NFL. Not expecting much against the Cowboys, despite being thought of as the most likely shock of the wildcard round. I was actually at the Raiders against the Broncos on Boxing Day in Vegas and can’t believe that the Raiders pulled out the required run to sneak it in. Derek Carr is a pretty average QB but Hunter Renfrow is something special. Can see maybe a shock on the cards against the Bengals.
An insane game. 49ers are the NFL Watford without doubt. Jimmy ‘Deeney’ Garoppolo handing Dallas a lifeline when cruising. Injuries all over the place and hanging for the dear life in the final seconds only for a combination of Dallas and the referees comically messing up a final play. Incredible stuff in the final quarter.
Only started getting in to the NFL this season (after watching Last Chance U on Netflix). The final quarter last night was crazy - lost count of how many penalties the Cowboys gave away across the game. I picked the Cardinals to be 'my team' at the start of the season and I'm still hopeful for tonight despite the recent poor form. Getting JJ Watt back could be crucial, and at least they won't have to play the Packers next round if they win.
Glad I didn't attempt to stay up last night for the Cardinals game - from the sounds of things on Twitter they were dreadful. Such a strange season for them.
Haha I had a bet on green bay and Tennessee Gone Bucks and Kansas tonight. I'm backing the QBs basically.
Nightmare start for TB. You don’t give Stafford 30 free yards for PI and taunting. No words for the defence on that 3rd and 20. Wow.
Gutted the Chiefs Bills game was on too late for me to manage to stay up and watch, but what a finish! Tough on the bills to basically lose on the basis of a coin toss though.
I've said it before but any sport that works around TV ad breaks is going to find it very hard to attract new fans. I love watching the games afterwards when all breaks have been removed and there's a flow to it.
It’s rapidly becoming my favourite version of football I’m delighted the Rams won that great game, I’ve followed them from afar since the mid 80s. However, I can see SF doing them for the Championship, they’ve got a great H2H against them. They’ll deserve that too after a fantastic result against the Packers
Red zone is amazing in regular season. No ads for 7 hours!!!! I love the analysis to be honest. Genuine pundits that understand the game on Sky and BBC so the ad breaks don't make any difference to me. Mind you I'm a Washington fan so any breaks in the actual games are a godsend!
Yeah Redzone is great, it’s like watching Soccer Saturday but with no adds and they show you each goal and important event as it happens.
Bills-Chiefs was one of the best games I've ever seen, it's just a shame the bullshiit OT rules are still determining games. Fantastic to see Brady lose as well.
Yeah I don’t get why the other team don’t get the opportunity to match it. It’s like allowing the team who wins the toss to take the first penalty in a penalty shootout and if they score they win.
