OMG I thought kaba was king of the clanger ,but ekong has taken it to another level ,just not good enough end of
Absolutely dire today. One of the worst performances from a Watford player I think I've ever seen. We were well on top and Leicester's fans were starting to turn on their team. You could hear it clearly as we started getting through on their goal over and over and the high pressing working very nicely. They were nonplussed that they couldn't play out from the back and Ranieri is obviously aware that Schmeichel's kicking is shyte. We were knocking on the door as the commentators like to say. All undone by master William Troost-Ekong ducking out of a simple header. I wonder if he'll try to explain why. Anyway, that single moment turned the Lesta crowd around and got them back on side. Our chances of winning the game plummeted. Well done William. To our credit (and Ranieri's credit) we didn't let our heads drop and got back into it through the pen. Hurray! But then a few minutes later, after lunging clumsily at the ball and only being denied an OG by Bachman's save, William decides, for some reason, to gently half-trot after Vardy as he steams into our box to meet a cross. Wonderful William. Later on he played no fewer then three (I think) incredibly stupid long range back passes to Bachman when you could hardly see the ball for the snow. Fortunately it didn't cost us, but a couple of them were 'near misses'. Well thought out William. Well considered. Apart from one or two balls aimlessly lumped forward and one or two easy defensive headers, it's hard to think of how he aided the Watford cause this afternoon. On the balance of things, he was far more of an asset to Leicester.
I think he is clever only including his Nigeria exploits in his vlog. Pretty impossible to criticise him for that, all we've got is his dogshit performances to go on.
To be fair to William, he only made a mistake for 3 of the goals today. The first goes without saying, the second he was slow to track Vardy's run (it's not like Vardy is known for making runs in behind or anything...), the third he wasn't involved, and the fourth he didn't think to check whether anybody was running in at the back post and instead stopped for a breather. I wonder how well his father-in-law is doing at biting his tongue. I hope he buys him a **** Christmas present.
Really wanted him to do well for us, seems a good character but really poor performance today. If he's lacking confidence then today will have finished him
He has serious fundamental limitations in most areas of his game already - passing, decision-making, ability to stay calm under pressure, concentration - now, to compound all that, his head has clearly completely gone. It could be seen in full evidence for the fourth goal, where he essentially chose to opt out of the game mid-opposition-scoring-play. I can't imagine how bad his game can get after this performance and result, when we combine his fundamental lack of quality with his awareness that he was almost entirely at fault/the trigger for what happened in this match. He cannot start another game for us any time soon - Kaba can be a liability, but even he is nowhere near as much as WTE - it's actually impressive how he's managed to outshine Kaba in that regard and fully take his calamity crown. Any game he takes to the field at the whistle is a game we have declared - any space available for him must now go to Christian until any competent option is fit/purchased.
He looked hit or miss defensively in the Championship, and his passing is genuinely up there with the worst I've ever seen from a professional footballer. Shouldn't be anywhere near the Premier League.
The only positive is I think Ranieri knows he is liability as he was dropped against Man Utd. Injury to Nkoulou unfortunately has let him back in.
Ideally you need your CBs to be the start of every attack whilst doing the basics i.e defending the ball/goal/danger. I have no problem if any defender cannot do the former unfortunately WTE cannot do the bog standard basics . A swap with a 38 y.o. at Derby (Jagielka) would be an upgrade IMO . Not suggesting this BTW !
Persephone Arachne Penelope Molly Rush knows this and she's an eight month kitten who's never seen him play! She's a dab paw with the little WFC figure ( non Subutteo ) so perhaps she'll get a game?
Can you imagine a top draw CB getting caught out with this? Would never happen However a 'keepers call' should be in code to negate someone shouting "Keeper" . I thought this was basics ?
Literally no evidence or reason to believe this happened whatsoever, and as you and then Davy have said/acknowledged if you're fooled by it you should be up against the firing squad, and it's not a legal thing to do so even if he had become D.ick Dastardly momentarily, VAR would surely have intervened given it led directly to a goal. And no player on our team reacted in any way as though that had happened or took any particular issue with Maddison; something they definitely would have done had he done something like that.
Had it been Vardy, then I would say probably would be the case. Calling “keepers” or “leave” is a c@&£ish thing to do and would be right up his street, however, I don’t think Maddison would do that. I think it’s just another mistake from WTE. Can’t really be explained logically.
No. Cathcart may not be a great player and ideally not starting, but there is no way he was worse than WTE today.
I actually just watched the video in which he says that - it's interesting, but the way he says it, it much more gives the impression that Sissoko is desperately scouting around to avoid openly saying that WTE was to blame/made an insane mistake, and that it's kind of like when you relay an excuse someone gave you in implied inverted commas to a third party, you know? https://twitter.com/WatfordFC/status/1465025196276916224?s=20
Exactly. Our players would have gone mental if this was the case. You could see ‘oh ****’ written on his face when he saw Maddison behind him.
A bit like the Chalobah-Arter incident down at Muff under Sliva, wouldn't it technically be an indirect free kick to us if Maddison were trying to deceive us? Not suggesting that happened or anything!
Well Masina seemed to throw his arms up at WTE was not going for the ball as if to say "what are you doing" as did Bachmann after the goal went in so guess they didn't hear anything.
My guess is he assumed WRONGLY that the only person behind him was Bachmann so ducked to let the ball go through to him
He's been pretty crap since he joined in truth. A performance like yesterday was going to happen sooner or later.
How is this a guess? Literally the only other option is that he knew Maddison was behind him and felt like giving him an early Christmas gift - you're just describing the situation.
It's a schoolboy error. Never and I mean never do you let the ball bounce. You just put your head on it and clear it. United did it last week for our fourth. It's just so frustrating. It results in his confidence dropping even more with another inept display.
