Made to play on while injured by the tinpot amateurs running the Chile team: http://sportwitness.co.uk/watford-man-ended-playing-pain-clash-pleas-ignored-putting-health-risk/
Looks like he went down , got back up , walked off then got told to go back on. https://mobile.twitter.com/Perro_en_Cancha/status/1460969067817451523?ref_src=twsrc^tfw|twcamp^tweetembed|twterm^1461025793832804358|twgr^|twcon^s3_&ref_url=https://s9e.github.io/iframe/twitter.min.html1461025793832804358 Must have been after they used all their subs as he didn’t go off .
Do clubs get any compensation when a player is injured on International Duty? If not they should I'm well pissed off by this, he hasn't played for us for weeks then he makes his comeback from injury for his International team Chile!!! Surely we could have refused to let him go as he was lacking match fitness, or is that not the case and were we obliged to?
He wants to play for Chile and why shouldn’t he? He had a storming season last year and so for the club seems to prefer dreadful Cathcart to him. No wonder he wants some action. I don’t blame him.
Ffs, he’ll be out for a while then. Why was he allowed to go when he’s just missed our last few games with a hamstring injury?!
Because as others have said, he very likely wants to play for his country. And with a World Cup coming up and him being withdrawn (rather unhappily) from a previous international window, he probably wants to fight for his international starting place. Also, after the agreement clubs came to with FIFA, I don’t think clubs can withdraw players anymore - a player must be inspected by (or liaise with) his international medical team before an agreement to release from the squad is made. Injuries happen on international duty - it’s fu*king frustrating this one due to him being one of our better CB’s - but I don’t blame Chile for the injury….it’s the keeping him on when he asked to come off that just terrible from them. But let’s face it, he would have only been on the bench at best anyway.
Yeah but our moronic support basically think that Watford is the bestest and our players have to be dragged over hot coals to play for their football-mad countries in order to play in a major tournament and hopefully get a bigger club move. AFCON is going to be hilarious amongst our fanbase.
Depends on how many games he misses and how serious the injury turns out to be. What would the situation be if WFC complained to FIFA about Chile knowingly risking causing more serious damage to him by refusing to take him off?
100% certain FIFA wouldn’t care. Also suspect Sierralta wouldn’t want his club at loggerheads with his national team in a World Cup year.
If the place that regulates your companies working conditions makes that allowance, then by all means do that.
Not too bad considering Sierralta described himself as "broken". He's quite lucky to miss getting embarrassed by City and Chelsea. Even if we play really well, they will put 3 or 4 past us.
No, if it's at all true/accurate (which with our medical team and reportage is far from a given) then indeed, it's not too bad. At the same time, it might be nice for one of our theoretically first-choice pairing to be able to develop some actual match fitness ever, ready for some games we might actually have a chance in, and similarly develop any kind of understanding or relationship at all with the other of our theoretical first-choice pairing. Without getting into further endless arguments about what the Pozzo can or cannot and will or will not afford, it's starting to seem like a new/further reason to consider it prudent to bring in another centre back in January might just be the injury-prone nature of El Gaucho.
All part of the Pozzo masterplan, he looked like he had the potential to make it in the PL, so keep him out of the team so nobody wants to buy him and get him to sign a new contract at the same time. Planning for the future rather than thinking about the here and now.
Back on the grass this week and apparently starting to join in full training with the squad next week. So maybe involved for Palace if we rush him or more likely Wolves?
Been waiting for his comeback but I was right in the 1st place hes absolute garbage and definitely not an upgrade on ekong they are both useless in a back 4
Unfit, barely kicked a ball all season, 24 years old and in his first season at this level, playing alongside two of the soppiest full backs in the league history, a pensioner for a centre back partner and a deluded, woeful goalkeeper. What exactly did you expect?
Og against wolves for a start when facing his own goal,Spent more time wrestling today ,dont get me started on his hoof ball had enough of that last season he ain't good enough end of ,we all have our opinions
I think the jury was always out on whether he'd be able to step up at this level. I agree with Nath, he's spent most of the season injured, so can't judge him yet. IF he can stay fit until end of the season we will know in the next few weeks if he's any good or not. Ultimately, I blame the board for gambling with WTE, Sierralta and two failed Prem centre-backs in Kabasele and Cathcart for this season! Let's be honest, Troost was sh*t last season and was carried by Sierralta in the majority of games under Munoz. Let's also not forget that the board decided that Kiko and Masina, two failed full-backs at this level were also apparently fit for purpose! We have clowns running our club.
Sierralta is an extremely agricultural centre back who is very inexperienced, dominant in the air and terrible with the ball at his feet, playing his second full senior season as his first in the 'toughest' league in the world. He needs an experienced leader who is more intelligent with the ball and a more technical player alongside him to complement him and help him learn/adapt. Suggesting that he's rubbish and he won't ever be good enough based on having to come straight back from injury into this disgraceful rabble of a defence to partner 47-year-old Craig Cathcart, who has none of those attributes other than experience, and apparently none of the positives derived even from that, is lunacy.
Let’s not make a judgment on todays game alone - or the little we have seen this season at this level. But also let’s not fool ourselves either that we have seen anything like enough to suggest he will be part of the answer to our woes. He’s been less than average in his showings thus far and has shown indications that he will be another CB who isn’t good enough for this level. Let’s hope that changes with game time.
