The comments on here make for very grim reading.. The fans have lost faith with Xisco and the majority sense that relegation is a foregone conclusion. Ok, we secure a new Manager or Head Coach. Will it really make any difference? The squad is incredibly weak and simply not good enough for the Premier league. We shopped in the bargain bin for players over the summer. What did we expect? What is the plan by the owner? Very, very disappointing. We are going down with a whimper and though it is only October, most fans just feel that we will not survive. It sad, but we are an awful team and out of our depth. Enjoy your evening.
I’ll defend Gino to the extent that the plan in the summer was almost certainly to reduce the structural deficit/debt strangling the club. I think we’ve done that, we moved a forest’s worth of dead wood on and signed a load of probably good enough players for next to nothing. Given the position we were in that was basically the only choice. I still think there are 3 teams worse than us in the league. But Xisco’s not going to get us enough points to take advantage of that.
We have good a few, but I agree with the point our squad is, at best, the 18th strongest in the league. We would need to over-perform to stay up. Expecting Xisco to have the tools to do that was foolish
Either the players aren’t playing for Xisco or he is not coaching them properly, today we hardly were able to pass to a team mate, let alone string passes together, we looked clueless from start to finish! Nobody came out with any credit, we got what we deserved! Nothing!
Spot on. Like it or not, we had no real choice in terms of spend. My biggest gripe personally is the lack of investment in a centre-back. Toothless in both boxes.
Get Foster out this ******* side. Exactly what I feared is happening; Bachmann has his faults with lack of cross claiming but at least he can distribute it meaningfully and is steady. Experience means nothing if it's not committed and Foster looks far from committed with a lack of concentration or decisiveness. His indecision caused Sierralta to over extend and injure himself and got away with the clearance on the line and follow up. Let alone the goal. His passing put us in danger and putting players on their weak side.
Only a few weeks ago people who suggested we hadn't had an A grade window were mocked. Time for a reality check for some, I would think.
He has the look of a man who knows this is his last season playing at this level. He is more focused on his next career. Sounds a bit like someone else, doesn't it?
Left early and am on the train home. At least it's an hour earlier than my planned one, the only positive about today. Absolutely diabolical. Quite the most inept performance I've seen for years. Every single time we got the ball it was like "No, no, you have it Leeds, be my guest". Every chance we had to go forward, we pass it back, then give it to Leeds player or pass it out for a throw in. Added to that the scummy Leeds fans taunting us all match in their usual Neanderthal way. Oh and it rained all day as well, just to round things off nicely. Well worth £100 of my hard earned cash.
One thing which puzzled me is that I was following the shots (on and off target) count during the course of the game and just after we had that goal ruled out the paltry shots/shots on target on the BBC was changed from 3-0 to 4-1. Surely if you have a goal ruled out (I know that's the case for offside at least) it doesn't even count as a shot?
Oh the fans lose faith the first defeat. I do hope they won't be cruel to Cisco though. He's doing his best, but I think you do have to question whether that's enough.
It’s pointless. Replace dumber with dumber essentially. I’m not sure it makes much difference as both have massive flaws.
It's what makes those sweet, sweet win days so sweet comrade. You have to suffer first to properly enjoy the contrast y'see.
One will benefit with game time whilst the other is actively regressing by the game. Yeah, it is much of a muchness but of the two we're better off trying to maximise value than call upon a player who actively costs us points.
Sounds to me as if that was a similar performance to Ivic's last ( was it Huddersfield?) I'm sure the players like Munoz as a man, he's hard not to like but if they have no confidence in his tactics,if any were visible, very few will bother to graft. Lots of team players hide at every level in every game. Ultimately it doesn't matter to them unless they are those rarest of creatures, ones with professional integrity and pride. Despicable but most of modern football is unpalatable.
I'd say Rose, Sissoko, Dennis, Sarr and maybe King get in the teams that are likely to be bottom half this season.
I missed the Leeds goal today so if that was Foster’s fault then fair dinkum but otherwise I don’t buy it. The defence clearly has no faith in Bachmann so there’s no big benefit to putting him in.
Stuck on the Millshaw road following the sat nav back home, reflecting on that. Are the team on a sack the manager bonus? Woeful application, effort and far worse than Brighton. If Gino wants to stay up he would not let Xisco on the coach home. Instead he should have an Uber take him straight to Manchester airport to fly him out of the country. Totally clueless .
I've genuinely never quite understood this popular idea that Xisco as a man is some perfect, wondrous, shining beacon of light - he seems, from the roughly ten words we've heard him say over his 2/3rds of a year here, a decent-enough bloke; not an aggressively visible asshole, and relatively agreeable. That's about it, though. I don't see why he would have some incredible hold over the players just because of that supposed force of personality, and it's also quite clear at this point that he doesn't.
He came out for a corner, went over him and headed back across goal. That ignores the other errors. My issue is that he's making costly mistakes both in goals we have conceded and also where he's been fortunate not to he punished which could reasonably have conceded 3 goals more minimum. This has happened against both Newcastle and today.
You know it’s bad when the keeper comes out and says a draw would have masked a poor performance etc . Anyone seen it . Harsh decision?
Well that was depressing ! A lifeless performance . We barely layed a glove on Leeds all match .Leeds pressing is extremely effective , but our passing even when not under pressure was awful . It was only their lack of final ball and finish that kept the score down .I fear if we play like that vs Liverpool we will get battered as they are likely to put their chances away . We aren’t winning anything in midfield . I still think we have some real attacking quality but if we can’t get the ball into dangerous areas then what’s the point . I ha e very much been in the camp of Xisco deserves a chance having got us up and I still believe that but I can see that we at least need a coach who can set us up to be competitive , which we weren’t today. Im torn as I don’t like the hire Em fire Em mentality but I also want us to stay up and I can see it looks unlikely with Xisco unless he learns very quickly . I’m certain Gino will make the right decision though, as he more often than not does .
If Ivic was in the running and was interested, would anyone else want him back? With Deeney now gone and us playing a much higher level of football he could of/would of had his moment now to really shine.
