I cant believe FIFA is worse gameplay. Never my cup of tea but it is polished and works as they intend. PES is simply broken from top to bottom.

It's not, it's utterly abysmal and feels like a 10+ year old game.

I switched back over to PES in recent years and particularly enjoyed 2021 on PC with all the modding. The core gameplay was mostly better and more realistic than FIFA and their were enough mods to make it feel almost equally as "official".

eFootball, however, is absolutely f**king terrible - gameplay included - and now has nothing over FIFA. Nothing. I've played the PS5 version of FIFA at a friends house for a couple of hours and it is miles better than eFootball, which really is a damning indictment of how bad eFootball actually is, because FIFA still isn't amazing.

I'd absolutely love to know what Konami were supposedly actually doing during that "extra year of development", because all they've done is release the same game under a new name, with even worse menus, no modes and gameplay that's been downgraded rather than upgraded.

The graphics/models are the same, the animations/movements are the same in terms of striking the ball, headers, goalkeepers etc., it's got the same horrendous commentary, the same PS2 whistle and crowd sound effects and the gameplay feels incredibly similar, just more broken and clunky.

One of the worst game releases in the history of the industry. Diabolical.

FIFA has been appalling in terms of recreating football. Aside from the presentation which is excellent the gameplay barely resembles anything passing a resemblance to actual football. Player attributes mean precisely nothing, one team plays like another and it's nothing more than ice hockey on grass. PES2021 was very good particularly after the modding efforts made on it by a still tremendous community and it's gameplay particularly after modifications to the AI variables was far superior although by no means perfect. There are elements in the eFootball of an excellent game that could have been but even despite the fact it is a beta in progress with DLC, animations and other components being added it still knocks FIFA into a cocked hat.

EA Sports do this with all the sports games they have. Use their muscle to gain exclusive licensing churn out the same game each year with roster updates. Hype it up and hey presto. Madden has been stale for years. NHL superficially resembles a hockey game but misses so many elements of the sports and skills which 2K had included a decade before in stick skill moves. defensive blocks and for example actually setting up a powerplay on the blueline properly.

You try an execute a powerplay in NHL and it is nothing like the actual sport. They are complacent and lazy and now will do the same thing to F1 seeing as they have acquired Codemasters. Sony thankfully for baseball enthusiasts still have MLB and 2K the NBA. I am amazed how people still come up and try to defend FIFA and it's gameplay. It's indefensible. Given the rise in computing power of gaming desktops and consoles the AI for instance should be far more advanced and a challenge and better able to mimic the real patterns of football, individual players and team tactics.

It's not as if there is a shortage of data either.

They took apart the previous development team Nath as we have found out on evo-web and totally changed the development arc. It's a real shame because this engine and the direction under PES20 & PES21 was going in the right direction to a more simulation based game. PES2021 will still be going strong as most modders have committed to it so expect to see patches for this season forthcoming.

    Try Pes Patch and evo-web.

What about this efootball my son told me about isn't this from Konami who make PES? I'm behind because my PS4 died around May this year.
Anyways I've dropped out from buying a PS5 and have ordered an XBOX series x. This will be my first time as an Xbox user. This is all down to my son telling me about the game pass and cloud gaming that they're launching very soon. Plus Microsoft's ability just to go out and throw money around buying established gaming companies like Bethesda. There are some major rumours going around that they will be buying out another massive studio anytime soon. With Take 2 and Warners being mentioned. I can't see Take 2 myself because just imagine GTA6 as an Xbox exclusive.

Do they work on PS4? Or is modding strictly PC?

    Agree.

Bit in bold, they've released a mobile game. Monetisation of micro transactions suits the mobile gaming world and influences konamis choices for efootball22. In 10 years you might find a mobile device can do a better job and console players will be playing against mobile users in a decent version of efootball32. But for now it's a gamble from konami that they can sustain their chunk of the pie from mobile sales only and the few weirdos who actually like the console or PC game.

I know as a 47 year old adult I should be thinking like you. But FIFA has been my happy place following my MS, making me finish work about 16 years ago, and my Pipolar Type 2. I know I spend lots of time on it, coz I LOVE it. I can only play in short spells due to my MS having bad migraine like pains.

I got FIFA 22 on my PS4 this morning, To begin with I'm going to adjust some of WFC's player stats. I never play online anymore, I either play a career or with friends. Here are the players I'm set to adjust. Just speed and shot mainly...

    Sierralta
    Dennis
    Pedro
    Baah
    Toure
    Cuker
    Mebude
    Quina
    Dele Bash
    Hungbo
    Penaranda
    Pochettino
    Wise
    Cassidy
    Phillips

15 in total. It'll take a while to adjust them but it'll mean they won't be useless in years to come.

I'm not going to adjust them too much, make it realistic. In the past I've created new players, but they always end too awesome

Kane Crichlow would be the only player I'd add this time.

Is cloud gaming available in the UK? just wondering how it's working. Dont get my Series X until the end of November and only purchased it purely for the gamepass which sounds to good to be true in all honesty.

Basically the games on the digital cloud are pre-installed to the point in only needs the certification software downloaded (when you purchase the pass, it digitally tags your console to the cloud - so you technically 'own' the library until your pass ends. You pay whatever it is per month and you can play a wide selection of games available to you. The digital cloud is, in essence just a super emulator which is configured to run older games that are still in demand.

Once major drawback, which I found especially annoying on PSN Pass - was you need a really fast Internet to even get the oldest games to play without a ton of server lag. It makes no sense considering most of these games were out in 2002/2003 era, when even mildly good Internet was rare.

Whats the new sensor pad thingy on PS5 like Skyla ? People have been raving about it.

  13. SkylaRose

Ultra Responsive touch. It basically mimics your finger print to the game and encodes your movement. Certain games on the PS4 used the same technology but it was barely considered a full feature. I expect as more PS5 games are developed, they will include the touch pad functionality more and more. If you ever had the Wii U (yes I did :D) then you know exactly what encoding your print is. Its' pretty damn impressive with what I have seen so far, and will only get better.

    Anyone play FromSoft games?

As difficult as they are, I just don't get as much satisfaction from games ever since I played Sekiro. Everything else is just Assassin's Creed in a different guise.

I've got Fifa downloaded now, but only for Career Mode. Ultimate Team is just Adama Traore and Ousmane Dembele sprinting past you all day - no thanks.

Ok - advice needed. Eldest daughter turns 18 in January and we have decided to finally give her the TV in her bedroom that she has wanted for years, along with a gaming console. Sooo..should it be an Xbox or a PlayStation? She’s not a huge gamer so I’m not even sure why she wants a console?!

    *Does* she want a console?

A smart TV that has Netflix, Prime, and Disney+ on it would be more befitting an 18-year old I would lazily assume.

  18. Hijacking this thread for a shout out to the world of VR and the OC2.

So far I've only downloaded a load of free games, demos and beta testing apps but OH MY GOD it is so awesome that if the free stuff is anything to go by the paid stuff is going to be superb when I commit to what genres I start to enjoy most to begin with.

    Really good stuff.

I got a Quest 2 about a year ago and it reall
With you on that. I got a Quest 2 about a year ago, ordered it on the day Christmas lockdown was announced as thought it would be something the whole family could play whilst we were stuck indoors. First gaming 'console' the whole family have loved, even the mrs. If you've got a gaming PC to connect it too, the Steam VR games tend to have better graphics but it can be a bit of a faff to connect up sometimes.

There's some really good online co-op games about. I like Contractors, Half Life Alyx, The Climb 2 (get a bit of vertigo with this!), GTA V with a VR mod, Space Pirate Trainer, Down the Rabbit Hole, Pistol Whip, Super Hot, Eleven Table Tennis (fell over trying to lean on the table in this) and Thrill of the Fight. Subnautica and Subnautica Below Zero are amazing but are PC games that have a VR mod. As you've already discovered there's loads of great free stuff out there too. Even just watching Netflix is a pretty impressive experience. Big Room is good for watching films with others, though can take a bit of setting up if you're sharing films from your end.

The kids love Beat Sabre, Acron (really good for getting everyone in the family playing together as you can use any mobile/tablet to join the game), Sports Scramble and Epic Roller Coasters.

The quality of games is getting better and better. I think you get a 30% discount code for the Oculus store after a few days which is handy.

  20. I don't have a gaming pc unfortunately. I'm more of a casual gamer rather than a serious one and the PS3 I had turned more into a dvd player than a game player for the last few years!

I initially really wanted a VR player to get Star Trek Bridge Crew and was thinking about the PS4 plus vr headset last year but that was double the cost for the Console as well which would never really be used - as I say I'm not a serious gamer (though I will have to start soon when my son is a few years older and starts getting into it so I can thrash him at FIFA!).

I downloaded the Beats sabre demo tonight and was really good. Not sure I want to pay £23 for the full game but the demo will be good for Christmas day games!

Same with Frog Hands Steve which is very random and really reminds me of the Star Trek hologram target practice game from a couple of episodes!

Other free/demo games I've looke at are:

Cover Drive: pretty awesome cricket demo! Only get a super 6 over in the demo but was so much fun.

War Yards: cowboy shooter beta game. Really good but I don't get very far yet! But a classic shoot em up!

Z race demo: another beta game but really fun flying racing demo

Operation Warcade demo: another shooting game.

Ancient dungeon beta: a dungeon crawler but funny as hell like Minecraft but in real life

Exit Condition One: an escape the room type beta game. Bit buggy by the concept is really good.

Descent Alps: beta downhill skiing game and pretty difficult in a confined space!

Epic roller coasters: not really a fan of roller coasters but is pretty breathtaking!

V Speedway alpha: racing game in a car.

Plus a few explore apps like ISS Mission which is a space app where you explore the iss and go on space walks which is brilliant and Jurassic park which freaked me out too much!

I also downloaded Bait fishing game but it's a bit dull. Probably good for real fishers who have more patience than me!

But so far I'm well Impressed with it and the graphics and usability. Really spot on.

Star trek bridge crew and star wars galaxy edge are high on the shopping list ( though bridge crew does get some bad reviews but just being on the bridge of the next gen Enterprise will be awesome) and some more advanced pay games like golf and cricket, dungeon crawlers, fear facing etc will be fantastic.

Awfully sorry Pete for not seeing your question before. Modding is for PC mainly. Pes Patch and evo-web are the two best sources. There are plenty of others. They also have files you can use for the PS4 although the modding is more limited. Avoid any sites that ask you to pay for files. One it's against my and most modders ethos and two they can scam you as well. Not entirely sure how you mod for the PS as I have always been a PC gamer although now hunting for a PS5 for next year. Hope it works out. Konami made an almighty balls up again with eFootball.

There's a load of games in that list I've not tried so that should keep me busy for a bit! Cheers!

In terms of pay games, I've got Pro Putt by Top Golf, which gets good reviews but I haven't quite got into yet. And fear facing, for me, The Climb 2. I'm not a fan of heights so that does the trick!

For PC Modding - the go to site is Nexus. They have hundreds of mods for well known games such as the Fallout and Elder Scrolls series. You can even get a totally free mod manager called Vortex which
handles all the folder install base for you. I never touched Console Modding - I never thought it to as be as secure as PC, but each to their own.

Two racing games made their appearance for the PS5 in the last two weeks. The fabulous Assetto Corsa Competizione racing sim (aside from the damage model) & the more fun GT7. Waiting for my Fanatec DD Pro to turn up next week and start racing.

Review of GT7. Looks amazing especially the dynamic weather and lighting along with improved physics. Dislike earning credits and the now normal nonsense of monetization.

Great news for sim racers. The superb Assetto Corsa will be getting an update/replacement on the Unreal Engine sometime in 2024. Fabulous physics, AI, all sorts of mods make GT racing a thrill and joy.

I've recently got a 1440p 165hz monitor and my 3070 Ti is struggling to churn out a stable 60+ on some of the more demanding games with everything maxed out and ray tracing on, even at that resolution. Generally I get comfortably above 60 (way above in some games), but the drops below that here and there in games like Red Dead/God of War are irritating to me.

Have been toying with the idea of a 4080 but will probably hold off on this gen in the end and wait for the 50 series to come along.
