Not a great day for the clappers but certianly enough in there for The Frothers and the BW's to get their teeth stuck into. Am sneaking away to lick my wounds and nealty fold up my giant Gino flag in readiness for the Leeds game , when we go again.
Foster should have done against Pukki what he did against Saint-Maximin and Murphy yesterday - came out, made himself big and didn't dive in. Seems he might have at least learned something though.
Wasn't that against Muff? I remember us being 2-1 up and Kabs just "sat down" for a rest. They went on to equalize.
It's a shame you never got to see Tony Coton. What a goalkeeper! Fantastic shot-stopper. A Watford legend. Probably the best keeper never to be picked for England. How Robson judged Shef Weds Martin Hodge to be above him in the pecking order defies belief.
I second that. He saved certain goals on a regular basis. Amazing keeper. I only saw Rankin play a couple of times and he was meant to be very good too, but that was at a lower level. Coton was the best I’ve ever seen play for Watford.
In fairness he had injured an eye lash. There arnt many people in the world who can have an injury like that inflicted upon them and stay standing
I would of thought the context of it puts it on the swear list. Most of us are adults on here and we know very well what that word can mean. Be it offensive or not, I can understand the reason the swear filter detects it.
Why didn't the lino didn't put his flag up. He is clearly offside. It would have sowed a seed of doubt in the crowd and the comedown and disappointment would not have been so severe.
Or was it West Brom? I think it may have been a game that was eventually drawn. Was it when Wally Mazzarri was in charge? Some of those games from that time just merge into one.
Possibly was under Wally. I am almost certain it was Muff (think we were away), a while ago though hard to remember. It could of been WBA mind.
Bournemouth in a 2-2 draw . Think he scored actually?! https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/38620044 And a certain J.King
The Andy Rankin save from Gordon McQueen during the famous League Cup win at Old Trafford needs to be seen. Fantastic save. It's here 7:56 in. I don't think I've seen the full highlights of this match since the broadcast. Excellent quality and excellent Barry Davies commentary.
I agree about Coton being the best ever keeper that I’ve seen play for us. An absolute scandal that he never got an England call up. Not bad for a keeper who conceded 5 on his debut for us. I imagine if social media had existed back in those days, a few people would have made fools of themselves by saying he was rubbish and should be dropped and Sherwood brought back!
I've just looked up the G word in the Urban Dictionary and it says it means... "A sex slave or submissive, usually male, as popularlized by the movie Pulp Fiction." Fair do's, we can't have males continually being treated as sex objects. it has to stop
I thought he got called up for more than one England squad but didn't get as far as the bench. Disappointed, he said he didn't want to any more squad callups.
I've mentioned it here before, GT said in his biography that he was told by the FA he shouldn't pick Coton because of his dodgy reputation and record. GT said he regretted towing the line and not picking him.
Let's be honest, both are past it. I believe Cathcart still has the desire, I'm not convinced Foster does.
Another copy and paste PA Media report from our favourite correspondent Sonia Twigg, the intern who's drawn the short straw to cover tinpot Watford in the Premier League for The Observer (Sunday Guardian). No real deep observations about the game or the current teams, just some comment derived from watching the MOTD highlights, some he said, they said comments from the coaches' post-match interviews and quick look at the stats to say the ref awarded 7 yellow cards so he obviously dealt the game in a robust manner. Atrocious coverage again.
On the funny side though, that's probably the worst we've played against Newcastle at home in the Prem (including the two seasons where we went straight back down) yet once again they've failed to come away with three points with yet another 1-1 draw. Hopefully it'll be the point that keeps us up rather than sends us down!
He won't go until after the Chelsea game. The new HC will be given a free hot at City but then pick up from Brentford on No point in brining someone in who is likely to pick up 5 or 6 defeats in 7 or 8 games
That was a crazy game 4-5 v Everton. None of the goals were his fault and some of the defending was schoolboy stuff. However, some of the attacking play was sublime.
