Come on Mods!!! If you're around when utter tosh like 'Chumlax v Davy Crockett' is going on and on, can't you step in and virtually taser them? It was a fabulous game and result yesterday, and from my armchair I want to keep reading about thoughts on the game, not a toshspat, up until I see the 'moved' arrow of doom. Feckin ridiculous.
I kind of get what you mean, but A) I wasn't the only one involved B) we were talking about an aspect of the game and C) the exact same point could be made about pretty much every post/thread you make.
Does anyone bother to read anymore analysis more than 24 hours after the match has finished? I've watched the extended highlights, read a few pages on here, mostly from people who went and laughed at a Norwich forum. What more do you need?
First thing to do in the event of a derailment is to get some shots down. 3 of them - 2 on one rail and one on the other. Protect the other running lines. Makes a bang if a train runs over it and warns the driver to stop immediately. Sometimes, the youth them like to steal railway detonators and hit them with a hammer to make them explode. Then most of their hand gets shredded. They're only little detonators, but powerful.
I’d much rather the mods concentrated their efforts on doing something about the bizarre spacing in most of Davey Crocket ‘ s posts , thanks .
How unrealistic. Have you seen Unstoppable? The only way to stop a train derailment is to drive another train behind it, couple together and slowly drag it backwards. 101 in train derailment class
Completely agree - Chumlax v Davy Crockett needs its own thread. Please can someone volunteer to write a preview summarising their recent form, grammatical strengths and weaknesses, and favourite architecture.
Usually it's common sense to see if maturity prevails and sides of the argument come to an agreeable resolution. Obviously if words get very personal, with insults swearing generally Mods will step in. It's almost impossible to police all threads all the time of course but they are checked on a regular basis. Do not forget there is a report button under the offending post and you can always send a PM to a Moderator if you feel it warrants it. I would hope that all of the people on this forum can defuse most tiffs using adulthood, so that is the main reason why some are left to run it's course but of course staff will step in if and when it becomes necessary.
It was a tough match thread for the e-fighters this week. No-one was really unhappy with anything so they took to making stuff up to get their sweet release.
Personally, I only enjoy reading the argumentative and insulting posts. Where can I find this latest set-to? It sounds like a cracker
https://wfcforums.com/index.php?thr...ford-fc-18-09-2021.58720/page-16#post-3050452 Is it weird that I myself posted this? Perhaps.
Thanks. An excellent read! The perfect blend of pedantry, intransigence and outright hostility! You even managed to draw in otherwise sensible posters like UEA! Well done to all involved
That's just because we were in the pub together at the time, and I happened to complain about the lunacy unfolding on here.
...Or run it into the catch points which are dotted all over the railway in case of such a runaway. Also, it would be impossible to couple a moving train. A 'buckeye' type automatic coupling (mainly the type used now) would still have to have both buckeyes lifted, pin removed and the jaws opened up. Even supposing you managed to do that by some miracle, you still need to connect the air brake hoses. If you didn't, you'd have no continuous braking through the train. The rear train would essentially be a 'swinger' or potential runaway - extremely dangerous. Without continuous braking throughout the train, you'd stand as much chance of stopping a runaway as you would if you caught hold of the back of it yourself and tried to stop it by sliding the blakies on the bottom of your shoes along the rails. The only other type of coupling really is a screw type coupling - the old type ones you see lying about on the ballast. You would never be able to get the two ends over the draw bar hooks and still less able to tighten up the screw. Same problem with no brakes too!
If you know what you're doing, (I once did), you can throw the points manually as a train is travelling over them causing an instant derailment. Maybe this needs to go on to the things you hate thread where we're on to terrorist plots.
Ahh that explains the “like” for every single one of your posts in an argument that seemingly has nothing to do with him.
Added to that, I never really understand this approach - his 'likes' probably had something to do with agreeing with the content of my posts, and he didn't like every single one of them, and either way, how is it being adjudged that it had 'nothing to do with him'? UEA could see the same thing that I could, and so felt compelled to add the weight of his own opinion in light of that - I highly doubt he was the only one who could, and given quite a lot of the (funny) chat on various threads today, that stands up further.
The jig is up: we're excited to be able to announce the launch of 'The Watford Booze Podcast', available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and wherever else you get your podcasts from.
What a spoil sport crybaby the opening poster is! I had a good chuckle at that ridiculous argument on the train into work this morning, even though being honest I couldn't figure out what Crockett was on about. This behaviour should be encouraged.
Certainly not a 'bunner' as we used to call the train spotters! Just short of 14 years spent in Watford box and Euston Ops Control comrade. Also chair of Euston No.1 NUR branch for.many years....
Yes, he who shall not be named. I’ve even heard if you put an @ in front of his name he is summoned as if by magic! Whatever you do, don’t do that Mrs Crockett.
The sooner some people accept this isn't a forum for *exclusively* talking about the topic contained in the title of a thread, then they will find their experience of the forum far more enjoyable! It's even funnier when it comes from people who themselves, at times, post inflammatory stuff that appears designed to get a response.... It's been the same since day dot and yet people still complain about it!
