Tbf Norwich obviously are going to struggle this season, but we've dealt with them better than Leicester did, and with a bigger margin of victory than their game away at Arsenal, two games they didn't look too bad in. I get they needed to go forward more which played into our hands, but still, a decent performance barring a few slips at the back! Sierralta back and all is well with the world
Probably would have been a decent loan option for us last season at LB when we had literally no fit LBs lol, but nothing more than that
Nice to win really, makes the weekend enjoyable and hopefully gives the boys some belief going into Newcastle. Two new signings King & Rose look excellent. Really hope King gets his goal soon. Femenia makes Sarr far, far more dangerous. That cannot be overlooked. Well done Xisco, deserved the 3 points, plan was clear to get it wide and cross and it worked. However, as said above, we’ve not learnt a great deal, we’re clearly better than the worst team in the division which is great for not coming 20th. Now we need to show we’re better than Newcastle too, then we can start to believe. 9 points from 6 Premier League games would be a great base to build from.
He's young and he's talented, but I don't think Norwich, a team with very little physicality, were the right move for him, probably would have been better placed going abroad
Danny Rose saving his energy by not giving a flying Farke about celebrating our first. Absolute legend.
Stolen from the Norwich forum (which is a cracking read right now btw, including a thread entitled ‘why aren’t we Brentford’) Farke’s PL record: P43 W5 D6 L32 F28 A89 GD-61- Win ratio 11.63% Good grief.
He praises players as regularly as you point out that ‘I said this…’ and post a link to a thread from 3 years ago. It’s quite regular.
Oh dear. BBC Look East aren't going to be happy. They were banking on a Norwich win to get their season growing. That and Luton squandering a 3-0 lead will result in much frustrated web-handed forehead slapping.
Farke isn’t doing himself any favours not picking Cantwell. Don’t like the bloke but he’s clearly one of their better players and one the fans like to see playing.
We don't need Bachmann back. Ok, Foster is slow and more interested in cycling, but Bachmann inbuilt reluctance to come off his line will cost us more goals. Foster and Bachmann are both on borrowed time, but for different reasons. We should be looking for a another keeper long term. Cathcart is dreadful, but what can you? We have a Championship defence at best. Norwich are awful, but we are only just outside of that statement. Another 3 pts towards my bet of 11 pts. A good win for the fans, but lets not get carried away considering who the opposition were.
It must be a genuine Hobson’s choice for them, guaranteed promotion when you inevitably get relegated but guaranteed relegation when you inevitably get promoted.
From Squawka: Ismaila Sarr’s game by numbers vs. Norwich: 100% take-on success 100% shot accuracy 93% pass accuracy 53 touches 9 touches in opp. box 5 take-ons 5 shots on target 5 duels won 4 crosses 2 goals He was superb.
Massive 3 points. Obviously norwich will not be the most difficult side we face this season but I'd say we need about 9/10 wins this season and if (big if) we can follow this up with a result vs Newcastle we will be taking some very big strides towards safety (though must be noted it will only be 5 games in) Regarding the game I felt it was fairly evenly matched until Sarrs first goal but we closed out the game well and Sarr shouldve really got his hattrick. Was pleased to see us have a more focused attack having identified that Norwich are not strong at defending crosses and we created a couple of chances even before Dennis' very strong header. What cleverly lacks up for technical ability he makes up for with his workrate which is really impressive, he'll also pop up with 1 or 2 big passes in a game and for me has earnt a spot against Newcastle. I cant say the same for Cathcart who I thought lost his man repeatedly and has no pace or real passing ability. If Sierallta is not available then for me Kaba has to start. Thought WTE did really well today and provided some big challenges but overall I think we need to find a way to keep clean sheets as our attack cannot be relied upon to score at least 2 every time. Feel there's a bit to speak about every player but I'll on Foster who, while did not cover himself at glory with the Norwich goal, felt more composed and had better distribution than DB. If both goal keepers are likely to have an error in them I'd much rather have the one who has the composure and better passing ability COYHH
It was the now departed @Markoa$ who was the big forum advocate for us signing Williams in the summer : "So I’m proving that he is to try to get people to understand that to say he’s not good enough is false. " But as I was pointing out at the same time, although Williams made a really good start to his Utd career in 19/20, he has gone backwards massively and was gash for them last season. I didn't think he'd be good enough for us, same as Garner the season before: https://wfcforums.com/index.php?threads/okay-yokuşlu.58557/#post-3026531
Foster's kicking today was excellent on the whole. It saves passing it out to the centre backs if he can ping it out to the full backs and wingers like that. Although WTE's crossfield balls were good today.
Goals breeds confidence. I know it's only Naarrch but we could easily have scored 6. This will put the team on the front foot going into the Newcastle game.
Well I'm glad I was in full Alan Mills/tournament ref mode today and didn't discover the team until now! A good day to be yellow, well almost! Brave of Disco but surely TBFC must have been unwell or injured? I shall stay up for MOTD. Mr IBB will not. Well done Swansea,hahahahahaha1 Happy weekend everyone.
They went one better when they threw away a 3-0 lead at home to Wrexham to lose 4-3 if anyone remembers, one of many comedy moments in the 2000/01 season when they got relegated to Div. 3.
It'll now be great to listen to BBC 1CR and Mr. Derek's take on things along with the wining and moaning of Nathan Jones as they f@rk up a 3 goal lead at home. Happy days. Heeeeyyyyyyy.
