Get in Sarr! A lot of space afforded to us, but still, good work from Ngakia and King in the build-up too!
The rumour I heard about Sierralta is that he is a Taurus and Russell Grant predicted an unfavourable outcome for him today, so he is being shielded from dark forces.
Nope. Rumour has it they've taken him to Dover. I'm sure Farage will post a video celebrating this in the next couple of days
Comfortable win. A class above Norwich. Sarr toying with them at the end. Kucka looked a little out of puff but showed his class. Cleverly played well at the top of midfield. Dennis a constant menace. Rose some excellent passes out of defence. Pleasing to see King get an assist and showed well. Nice runs, showed for the ball. showed strength and composure and the goals will come. Sissoko an absolute monster in midfield. Still need to find a little toughness in defence losing Kiko and Cathcart despite a couple of interceptions is not what we require against sterner tests. Need to build on this and beat Newcastle and go forward from that after disappointing efforts against Brighton and Wolves. Need to show the same level of confidence and energy as we showed today. Norwich are in a deep hole if this is where they are at. Comfortably second best.
Great to see us playing Norwich off the park towards the end today, really encouraging despite Norwich being bottom.
Really pleased with that result. Counter attacking sounded good and Sarr has used his bit of extra class to help us win. Norwich away sounds easy - but they finished one place above us last season. Every win in this league is good. Fair play to Xisco and the team.
Wonderful to get three points, as it always is, but Norwich were absolutely abysmal - they're just not even capable of competing at this level, and we are cosmically incapable of losing to them. Still looking forward to QSF round three in about November, followed by a broader 19/20 round two, based on all we saw. Huge plus point was Rose - some of the balls he played, and the anticipatory step-out to block and mug the ball as it came in to Brandon Williams in our box on 91 minutes was a clear sign of the fundamental class he possesses.
Norwich looked doomed Much better in the 2nd half Something I've never noticed about Rose is his passing is brilliant, he finds passing angles the likes of WTE and Craigcart and others could only dream of
Pissed it really. We barely got out of 2nd gear and comfortably beat them. When Sarr is on form we rarely lose. Just needs to find that consistency so he's more involved in games
Absolutely. It's definitely going to be his last year with us anyway. He may as well push his price tag up.
Great win!! random but CB's... how did Gary Cahill end up at Muff?? Surely he'd have walked into ours, or a lot of other lower prem defences.
Wages. They'll be ****ed if they don't get promoted this season. Good to see Chalobah having a positive impact for Slither.
Phew. We didn't find out much from that which we didn't already know from Wolves - we'll probably still get relegated, but at least we'll have an outside chance of survival. We'll really need to find a consistent first choice XI and keep them fit though for it to happen. Norwich don't have a hope this season. A few thoughts on performances: Foster could have closed Pukki down more for the goal. Perhaps he was still hesitant after giving away so many pens from needlessly rushing out last time he was in the Prem? Rose somehow managed to look even less fit than last week. Was alright still though. Committed a few too many needless fouls perhaps. Cathcart is not a PL defender anymore, but we knew that already. Was asleep half the match. Can't start vs Newcastle. T-E was solid. Kiko showed why he's such a huge miss when not fit. He's our best RB, but as I pointed out even before the season started he can't be relied on to play every game. Kucka is cack. Not sure how he's lasted 90mins vs Wolves and today. Tufan must surely be good enough to replace him soon? Cleverley was very good. Typical energetic pressing display from him. Sissoko fine. Sarr was wasteful in the first half, but showed his quality eventually. King was totally anonymous for most the match. Finally did a few decent things later on vs some terrible defending, but I'm still not convinced. Dennis does look a find. Great goal. Not sure why he was subbed. Final thing - does anyone on here still want us to sign Kabak?! I've been warning against him for years despite many on here buying in to the unwarranted hype.
So we’re comfortably better than 21st place in England, it’s just a question of where we sit above that. I haven’t really got much to say about us, I’m just totally in awe of how shockingly bad Norwich are. Obviously I never watch their games, but all I hear after their latest defeat is they played well, even against good teams, yet every time we play them they’re the very definition of all fart and no sh!t. They’re just so flimsy and lovely to play against.
What a stressfull ******* game that was. A few immediate thoughts: Foster is showing why he is clearly 2nd choice with that goal. He doesn't position himself for a more aggresive or more cautious approach, leaving himself unable to pressure Pukki earlier with a more aggresive rush or set his body in anticipation with a more cautious position nearer to his goal. He then commits very early, dropping to his knees and therefore unable to react to the shot as he is literally on his ******* knees. This enables Pukki to look up and put a fairly tame sidefoot past him into the goal as Foster made up his mind for him. Really poor technique with bad footwork. It's a not goalkeeper howler, but it is indicative of a goalkeeper who hasn't played much in recent months / a keeper who has significantly regressed from a shot stopping perspective. Everything else he did has been regulation from any standard of keeper. Femenia played well, and hopeful it isn't a serious injury. Ngakia however looks like a player ready to step up now so it's nice having to viable RB's unlike last PL Season. Danny Rose will only get better. He's made some lovely passes and gets stuck in. He was however very fortunate to not concede a penalty so that is a big blotch mark against him there. Masina is a good backup option to have though if we need him but Rose must be starting every game now. Cathcart looks what he is; a Championship defender in the Premier League, much like Mariappa was. We need to let him go after this Season as he is getting regularly caught out. WTE looks increasingly assured and is making more timely inverventions than before. His passing is improving after his mistake v Brighton. Kucka looked gassed, but kept trying. Shouldn't be starting currently but not for a lack of effort. Sissoko is Sissoko. Moments of comedy and brilliance all within a few moments of each other. I love him already. Cleverley was the more stable of the midfielders and didn't do himself a disservice today. Sarr looked more his usual self. Still doesn't press as much as I'd like, like King and Dennis do but can't knock him when he delivers like he did. King played well too in the 2nd half, causing issues and producing an assist as well as the shot Sarr followed up on. Dennis pressed as well as usual and scored a very brave header. Happy overall with today with a caveat we need Bachmann back sooner than later and we need to sort our midfield out, hopefully with Tufan and / or Louza coming in soon and help provide some more creativity.
I had a rant last Saturday night so only fair I come on straight after the final whistle to say well done to Xisco and the team. Maybe we don’t need Sir Eddie quite yet! As @wingco says, we are so dependant on Sarr. Today was one of his days, and we won accordingly. I might not have liked the changes Xisco made to the starting eleven, but I could see his thinking and at the end of the day, we won, so he obviously got it right. Yes Norwich are awful, but that’s not our concern. We haven’t been much better ourselves since the opening day, so that could yet prove to be a very big win. Now we get a nice chance on Tuesday to give more minutes to the likes of Louza, Cucho, Tufan, Fletcher etc. I’m hsving a great sporting day so far, with my cricket team winning an unlikely semi final victory in the Blast earlier, so the Watford game fell in between the semi and tonight's final. Come on Somerset. Quick quiz question...Dennis today became only the second Watford player to achieve what in the PL? Capoue was the first..,,,
Needed that. From what I viewed on US TV over here, I’d say we were 7.5/10 today. And it’s good to know we can win games at this level when we are good but not superb, even if it is Norwich (who look doomed already). In attack, I thought all 3 players showed flashes of ability and were solid enough, without showing 90 mins of consistency. Dennis started brilliantly but faded, King showed touches of what we might get if/when he gets up to speed and Sarr did his ‘regular’ act of flattering to deceive for periods before bursting into life. Happy with the midfields contribution today. Kucka was 6/10 all afternoon from what I saw. Regularly seemed to be running out of steam before getting a second wind but stuck at it - think he will be most at risk when Tufan is up to speed. Cleverley did what Cleverley does - pressures and never less than 100% effort. A sound option for games of this level - but undoubtedly found out against better opposition. Sissoko the best of the 3 - just a pure athlete of a player who will be a big part of any success we have this season IMO. Fantastic business. Thought both FB’s were sound enough - Kiko started up his relationship with Sarr once again nicely before showing what we all know - he’s made of glass. Rose is clearly a better player than Masina and I expect he will be the regular LB all season. He will also only get better I think once the full fitness returns. WTE had one of his better games and his distribution was decent enough. Lead the line very well and marshalled Norwich’s attackers well. Cathcart was average with occasional dips into ‘poor’. Clear weak link. Norwich didn’t put enough high balls into the box today to notice there being any difference between Foster and Bachmann so not really much comparison to make there IMO. Need to follow this up with a win against a poor Newcastle. Let’s hope they spend the week focussing on how to nullify Saint-Maximin. Win next week and we can look up again rather than down - at least temporarily!
I thought we played much better than we have in recent weeks. Our attacking play was better, or pressing was good and we deserved the win. Norwich are hard to break down but they remind me a little of us when we go behind. They offer very little. It took another donkey moment from Cathcart to gift them an undeserved equalizer. We started the game very well and carved out the first chance which could of been a bit of a comedy OG in our favor for once. Dennis scored probably one of the best headed goals i've seen, but what a cross from Kiko. We have been saying for weeks how much we have missed the Kiko/Sarr show and boy it was on full display today. Xisco had to win this - had we lost it would of been knives sharpened. We always seem to play well against Norwich or some reason, odd. Second half was a tighter affair and it was obvious Norwich were going for a point, but I am glad Sarr scored to put us back in front. We never really looked in serious danger of losing the game after that. Pukki is a great player, and he had Cathcart of toast almost all game. We really need to sign a decent RB in January. Can you imagine Cathcart against Sterling? With Brentford winning earlier, Newcastle and Leeds both grabbed a point, we needed to win today to avoid getting sucked into the bottom three, we did that and I am sure the most relieved man right now leaving Norfolk is Xisco Munoz. I think it's pretty clear (on today at least) that Norwich are a one league wonder club. Too good for the Championship, not good enough for the Premeirship. Six points, five played. If we can now go on and beat Newcastle next week that would be a massive confidence boost. I am under no illusions that one swallow doesn't make a summer, but ending our losing run and SCORING not one, but three goals away from home is quite something and I am sure the traveling horns will be delighted on their trip home. Sorry I was absent second half Shout Box but from what I read it was as exciting as ever. Well done lads, well done Xisco, you may just of saved your job for another two weeks.
Quoted as saying he had PL options but wanted to fight at the top end of a table rather than the bottom at his age.
Can't be arsed to really analyse it, there's not much point as Norwich are so utterly dreadful. We were a bit better, front three and Cleverley very good. Someone on here argued with me a while ago that Brandon Williams was a really good player. Sorry but I'm not seeing it.
