I've lost all interest in this season. Looking forward to the World Cup now.

Wouldn't be my #1 choice, but would probably get us promoted out of the hollowed husk of the Championship

Spurs were horrific today, even before sending off.

Ronaldo scores enough goals without needing help from the opposition keeper.

Had a couple of shockers there.

Shame to see a young player suffering a bad injury.

Bad injury. Didn’t seem a red card though. Will be rescinded like the Son one against Gomes.

Apparently given due to the seriousness of the injury which happens in rugby .

General view seems to be that the was harsh .

Yeah, definitely didn't seem that way in the moment, although, of course, we can't tell for sure because they won't show any close-up replays for obvious reasons.

That seems a nonsense though. If you do that then you have to not give red cards if someone isn’t injured. It’s dumb for refs to be results orientated - surely that isn’t a rule?

I've seen a video where it's zoomed in and slowed down and the problem is his back leg wraps around Elliott as/after his front leg has taken the ball which traps Elliott's leg and leads to the injury - so, basically, on the strength of that a red card actually seems pretty justified.

Agreed but they seem to do that with rugby when someone lands badly after a tackle.

Like you say does seem harsh to judge by that .

Leeds will be down there this season.

Why people act like Bielsa is some sort of world class manager and a football "genius" I have absolutely no idea. He's won next to f**k all in his long career, never really been given a big job, and insists on Leeds playing mornic, arrogant, kamikaze, attacking football and refuses to adapt to the opponent or match situation whatsoever.

Fat, marshmallow man looking, old div.

What I certainly do find mental is that he still doesn't speak English - this is his fourth season here!

"Moronic" ? Nah . Not for me . Who wouldn't have him here tomorrow?

He can speak English, apparently, but chooses to have an interpreter for media interviews.

If that is the case, then it means he doesn't actually speak English well enough, though, doesn't it?

It's like when Pochettino came to Southampton and refused to speak to the media in English, and then Spurs hired him and told him they wouldn't be accepting that, so pretty quickly he was sounding off at great length in English - maybe I'm in the minority, and I am incredibly far removed from the IF THEY WANT TO STAY ERE THEY AV TA SPEAK THE LANGUAGE brigade, but as a head coach it's a weird thing to refuse to speak publicly in the language of the country you work in long-term, or at least a language that the majority of the people/fans will be able to understand (which obviously is contextually-dependent).

It's definitely something we suffer from too - plenty of our coaches haven't actually genuinely had good enough English to every say anything of any note, and Xisco is up at the top with that, as it stands. As I said, plenty probably won't care that much, but I do feel like there is an element of connection missing when the coach is either incapable of delivering words themselves at all, or when the words they do are totally limited to a few stock phrases, and mostly not even getting close to answering whatever question it is they're being asked at any one time.

Must do in training surely or does he just wave his arms around and use charts to get his point across?

according to someone I know who knows Leeds pretty well, apparently his English isn’t bad at all but he doesn’t want to speak it to the media lest he gets misunderstood. Maybe that means his English isn’t all that great, maybe it doesn’t, I don’t know, but I gather he does all his coaching in English so it probably isn’t that bad. Not sure it’s a Pochettino at Southampton situation.

seems a canny ploy to avoid media scrutiny and for sure there are foreign coaches who resort to stock phrases and stuff like “in these moments we need to be better” as a way of not having to engage fully with the media. In some (many?) cases I don’t think it follows that they can’t communicate effectively in their coaching work.

Just for clarity, I didn't say/wasn't saying it necessarily affects the coaching situation - I'm talking about the relationship between fans and coach/team.

As I’ve said many times, intent has now been taken out of refereeing the game - which is wrong and a great shame.

After Saturday I thought we had no hope of staying up but in all fairness there are plenty of teams just as **** as us. Burnley look terrible. And from a few conversations with different Newcastle fans they arent too impressed with their performances either.
