Just watched MotD and reliving the game was just a horrible as watching it live. We looked so poor. Midfield is strong physically, but also sluggish. Kucha so impressive against Villa, looked very lethargic today. No creativity. I don't think Kucka and Sissoko really works. They are both too similar. Basic footballers with a bit of muscle, but little guile. Hopefully Louza/Tufan can produce that spark to link in the forwards.

That first goal was even worse than I remembered. Bachmann has to deal with it. Once it gets to Sierralta, he's in a terrible position. Wolves players behind him and he gambled on heading it wide, but got it horribly wrong. But, the ball was flighted close to the keeper. Any other keeper would have come to catch or at least punch it away. That goal is totally on Bachmann. God knows what he was doing for the second one. How many feet was he behind his line? Ridiculous, although Ngakia has to do far better with challenging for the initial cross. He just didn't make any attempt at all.

That was such a horrible performance from us. We need to work on so many things...too many things. It's one of those games where so much is wrong, that it's best just to rip it up completely, although we've had two such performances out of four already this season. We had a bright start against Spurs only to fade as the game went on, a great 70 minutes against Villa, before bringing on Gosling for Kucka and being totally overrun.....and Brighton was just a **** show from start to finish.

Against Wolves they steamrollered us for the first 15 minutes before we managed to get into the game and at least made it competitive. We even created a couple of decent chances, one of which should have been taken. Apart from that we were second best all over the pitch.

How do we resolve this? Before the game I thought the line-up was as strong as it could have been, but it produced a rubbish performance.

Easy potential fixes would be to bring back Foster if fit and Kiko, again if fit. Pedro needs a game, although I'm sure he wont start. Tufan for Kucka might improve our creativity or goal threat from midfield. I can't think of too much else were things could improve from a squad perspective.

It's not so much the defeat, but the manner of defeat and the ineptness in our play. That is of great concern and there has to be a big turnaround against Norwich. Next two games are against the current bottom two. It's obvious we have to take maximum points from these two games. I cannot see it personally, but will be hopeful the team can't find a couple of good performances from somewhere.

Perhaps if we left one of our pacy players up on the halfway when defending corners our counter attacking strategy might work, having the entire team in the box just gave wolves’ defence the confidence to push further forward this inviting more pressure on our goal.

The big hope for us must be that the club will lay on some event to introduce the players to each other. Maybe a barbecue, while the evenings are still warm, or a quiz night.

Because at the moment they play like they haven’t an effing clue who their teammates are.

Did we not trust our players in the area to win a header or score ?

Obviously hoping Sarr or Dennis would somehow dribble into the area or shoot.

I agree with this, but I think the root cause is the coaching and use of the players. As I think there is a 17th place finish within that squad if managed tactically by a more competent coach.

I do think we need to see where we are after eight games relative to the other lower half teams. For example, Brentford and ourselves got first game wins, as much on adrenalin and underperforming opposition as anything else. Only the failure to get a point at Brighton was truly disappointing. As survival can be gained by beating those teams in the mix at home and getting a point away. A 4-1 points advantage on results against five of the teams that will be fighting against relegation, is the root to survival. Norwich, Newcastle are key matches. A point away and a home win would be very reassuring.

We replaced Hughes using the money to get Sissoko. That looks like a great bit of business. If nothing else if we go down we will get a fee for him next summer, Hughes would have walked. But actually Etebo and Sissoko are better players than Hughes or Chalobah.

As normal it’s goals that win matches, and we haven’t scored in the last three matches. That’s the comparison we need to look at between the squads

Let's give Wolves some credit. IMO the best side we've faced for a very long time.
It's still early days and it's very much a work in progress. 6 of the starters were completely new.
Hopefully Xisco learnt a lot yesterday and he deserves the chance to work things out.

3 most depressing things about yesterday.
Kids near the front hating everything Ngakia did, calling him a c word at every opportunity then dribbling over Shannon Courtney at halftime using lines clearly learnt from the 80s.
The lack of energy in the crowd. Felt like an end of year stroll at times. Really missing something.
The lovely 3rd away kit makes me look fat and old when I wear it.

Looking past our 11 today, there is no way having the option of Hughes and Chalobah in the squad could have been a bad thing.

Clearly we are waffer thin in most areas.

We don't have a Premier league goalie. We have one Prem centre back. Right back is debatable and we can just about field a front 3, but can't see which of them will provide a goal.

Recruitment stinks once again, but clearly we went out to buy on the cheap. Loans, free transfers and signings for Championship type fees. Overall, nearly everyone we signed was a hopeful punt type of deal and a couple will probably come off. In fact most of then look to have potential, however, we are using them all as starters! And we have no plan b.

Etebo, Dennis, King, Kucka, Rose, Sissoko all starting shows that our recruitment basically requires us to have the luck of the very devil to be successful. Every roll of the dice needs to come up Yahtzee.

We managed out 2 players we knew could do a job at this level when we could ill afford to do so. Looks like a mistake to me.

How many times have we seen it, you don't take your chances, you don't win games!

The passing out from the back was too slow, the ball speed it's self was too slow allowing Wolves to press and force mistakes

Our translation from defence to midfield the to the forwards was far too slow. How many times did a pass go 1 or 2 yards away from someone either in to touch or force the receiving player to adjust and slow the play?

The tactics of diagonal balls over the top against a back 5 was puzzling as was the substitutions.

Everyone could see the goal coming, we were getting battered, bullied and over run in midfield but we chose to do nothing

Having seen the highlights, what the hell was going on with the 2nd goal? Bachmann outside the frame of the goal for the first cross a yard behind the line when he tried to make the save, completely lost his bearings. Thank god he made a very good save at the end of the first half, otherwise it would have been a lot lot worse.

It was more than just a bad day at the office & there is a worrying trend of performance emerging.

Some Wolves fans have said it was their worse performance of the season and we were unlucky particularly first half (which is true )

They thought like us King going off gained them the upper hand and Sarr wasn’t as effective.

And they had Ruben Neves who probably ought to be at a higher club .

Disappointing, I thought Ngakia did pretty well yesterday, he got beasted a couple of times by Traore early doors (although this will happen to most full backs in the league) but kept his head high and got back into the game, but it was a tough game for him to be thrown into - it feels like he's been with us for ages but it's easy to forget that he only turned 21 last week!

Our system is a 433; the formation isn't really any different from how Chelsea, Man Utd and Man City set up at the weekend. It's not the problem.

    No it's not.

Yes JP will come in and save our season, just like he was meant to do and then did when he was first signed in Jan 2020.

We could do worse than a second one for Gracia. If we have to have a team composed of wingers who won’t run at the opposition and strikers who have no one to pass to, we may as well play a tight 4-4-2. Play combinations of Pedro, Dennis, King, Sarr and Hernandez up top with four in the middle to win the ball and maybe once in a while even pass it to each other.

In saying this I am really not suggesting we can’t do better.

I don't think we managed out either of them, they both wanted to leave

Sometimes players want to leave. Hughes went to a more established PL club and Chalobah didn't want to be 6th choice CM

Just watched the first goal back and slowed it down, so much goes wrong.

We didn't notice the left back making the run forward, not sure who that's on.

The ball gets played short, everyone pushes out other than Ngakia who is still almost on the goal line. Bachmann shouts "Out" and Ngakia then tries to get out but by this point, there's a Wolves forward behind all our other defenders at the far post but still onside. Then, as the ball comes in, Bachmann shouts "Away" which makes Troost-Ekong and Ngakia both go for a ball that is too high for them and just miss it. I'm not sure Sierralta could do much by that point, it's an awkward height and two colleagues had just tried to head it right in front of him, leaving him no time to react.

Ultimately, we've scored an own goal with a chest high header from inside the six yard box. There were six Watford players in between the crosser and any Wolves player, there were no runs across the front to confuse anyone, every single attacker was beyond the far post - the cross was actually underhit. If Bachmann took a position one step further forward, he collects that easily.

I honestly thought Wolves were bang average yesterday and if they play like that 38 times this season they’ll be in big trouble in or near the relegation zone. Certainly there was nothing exceptional about them.

Or let’s hoof one right into the area of the pitch where Wolves have a minimum of 3 defenders and we have one attacker. Was insanity to be honest.

I know what you mean as they looked ineffectual at times but then I think shape wise they were great. At times it was like Sarr had to follow the Wolves winger and full back at the same time defensively and then when it was his turn to attack he was tracked by the same two AND one of Moutinho or Neves.

Same applies to Dennis on the other side, completely stifled by Wolves shape.

Then again their manager has won the Portugese league with Benfica, broke their goals scored record, managed in the Champions League and has previous experience as an assistant in England. Ours won the Georgian League.

Typical and unsurprising overreaction on here. Same old people. Having slept on the result, I feel far more positive.

We should have lost that game 4/5-0. We were dominated and only lost 2-0 and we scored one of their goals - that's a good achievement against a side who hadn't scored or won a game this season when we have a coach without a tactical thought in his mind.

I'm sure our blameless, non-error making owners will rectify any and all problems soon. So some perspective needed please.

    We'll be fine.

I don't think recruitment was the problem yesterday, as good as Wolves are, that team was good enough to get a point. Who knows, maybe if Xisco hadn't subbed off King so early in the second half, we would have got one. Clearly we're going to struggle this season, but do I think Hughes and Chalobah would be gamechangers for us? Considering Hughes has a track record of being OK and not much more, and Chalobah has never done it in the Prem, I'm fine with us taking the money for them and taking a punt on the players we have
