Would you want to pay 12 million for Wilson though? Bit of a gamble potentially? Good player but seems to be inconsistent.
Derby have done it again! Managed to concede a last minute winner instead of scoring one. Feel for Rooney though.
This Swansea-Sheffield match has been abysmal. Safe to say that Slav has not got his freewheeling magic up and running at the Blades as of yet.
He had a slow start with us and it seems the same is happening for Jokanavic at Sheffield United. Mind you our team was miles better than theirs is !
Most of that Sheffield side were League One a short while ago. Can't believe they finished top half in the PL.
And got a 20 million pound striker on the bench bench while playing an ageing Billy Sharp. You are right - how football can change so quickly!
They had some really nice recruitment over the summer, I have a inkling they'll finish top 10 this season.
Incredible performance from the referee in the Bristol C v Swansea game. Not a dangerous challenge in sight. TEN yellow cards! And a complete failure to play any advantage when both teams were in promising positions. Absolutely dreadful refereeing performance.
Geoff Eltringham. Already managed 25 yellows in 4 games this season. And, fun fact, of the 3 games he refereed last season and issued no cards, 2 of them involved us (Wycombe and Swansea at home).
He was the sap that my cousin told me was hated at Barnet Wasn't he the one who disallowed the Boro goal at Swansea?
Luton lost 5-0 at home then. Probably win 4-0 next week as it's the Championship. Zinc might be working for a new manager soon? And Slav hasn't exactly started well.
Very interesting to see what part Troy will play in Brum’s season. Apart from their freak result at the Scum, they’ve struggled for goals, and will Troy be the solution? He didn’t look even Championship quality for most of last season, but I don’t know if that was a lack of confidence and/or fitness, personal problems or both. Hopefully he’ll get a second wind there with it being his boyhood club and the one he supports, but a lot depends on their formation and their style of football. It’s hard to tell how their season will shape up, but last season they were battling relegation as they have done for several other seasons since going down from the Prem and though they played well at our place they still lost 3-0 and looked nowhere near promotion-chasing quality, with the ball spending much of the time in the air which won’t suit Troy. But I haven’t paid any attention to their latest incomings and outgoings…
He can’t beat an offside trap anymore, his movement is also abysmal now, when did he last score a header? He also takes too long to control a ball and shoot before he is closed down. I think he just wasn’t up to championship standard last season because he is simply not up to championship standard anymore, no other mitigating factors. Maybe if he works on his movement and actually makes intelligent and well timed runs to actually get on the end of any deliveries, he might get different results this time, but I won’t be holding my breath for him. I have no idea what formation they play but he might be effective in a 442 for them, but the problem with that is they will need an effective striker to benefit from his layoffs from around the the 30 yard/edge of the box area. I really want it to work out for him but I struggle to see how it will, considering he couldn’t hit a barn door with us last season with significantly better players around him than he’ll have at Brum to provide chances for him.
They will both require a total recalibration of the rest of the team's cohesion and talents to enable them to score enough to justify the move, so...
LOL, even comparing Troy going back to Walsall if he’d gone there instead to Ronaldo’s return would’ve made more sense. Derby look like they’re only going to win one of their opening six games, just amazed Rooney is still their manager, and Brum still haven’t made a sub.
