I assume you mean Malang Sarr, not Salisu?

Time to call in the Udinese favours from last summer - get Rodrigo de Paul on the blower.

Well Moore is better centrally than what we have at the moment and if it helped shift Gray, Deeney, Success and Perica I'd be happy with it. It's a fair quote because overall I was taking Cardiffs direct style into account. Obviously I've only seen him play against us and highlights and I agree he has got all types of goals in him. I suppose I'm just hoping for someone younger and of similar to better ability. 20 goals is not to be knocked though. I suppose it's all dependent on what Cardiff value him at.
I'm still hopeful for Quina but as you said he hasn't produced.

The guy is absolute class and a joy to watch. The good thing is Udinese have a massive valuation on him and are clubs going to pitch up the money for him? Inter have been sniffing and supposedly close to securing a loan but I don't know if that's just to cover former losses. Stranger things have happened and we can dream I suppose. Loan with a view could easily get sorted if all parties are happy.

Been linked with Leeds and Liverpool too. I suspect if he’s going they will want to cash in now for decent money rather than loan...

Not that I wouldn’t ask mind you.

I seriously hope not - none of them are good enough to prevent opposition being able to continue double or triple-marking Sarr without having to worry about our left flank. JP has barely made an impact at Champ level in the second half of this season, while Cucho hasn't managed a single goal or assist so far this year. Young has also not been used as an out-and-out attacking winger much in recent years and who knows what level he's still at now. Meanwhile we already know Sema isn't really good enough to be a regular starter at that level.

It's such a key position on the pitch, with so much talent around, that we'd be foolish not to bring in anyone better. None of those are fit to lace Geri's former boots.

Another interesting possible left-wing/left-forward option would be Stephy Mavididi from Montpellier. He's actually English, having been on Derby and Arsenal's books as a youngster before trying his hand at Juventus.

He's 22 and has managed 9 goals in just 1693 minutes while playing as a left-winger or a striker. He's rapid and a good dribbler. He might be a bit cheaper than Danjuma or Lookman with Montpellier having only signed him for €6mil last summer. He can also slot in at RW if necessary.

If you read a rumour or even if you think we should go for a certain player but the price will be north of £15m. Forget it, don’t even consider it an option. As for Tammy Abraham, it would be lovely to get him but he’s Chelsea’s top scorer and if he leaves they will want £40-50m

Like the look of him, the French league is notoriously defensive so you've got to have something about you to score in that league even if the standard is a fair bit lower than the Prem. LW/striker, well, I don't know which one he's more suited to, but it could kill two birds with one stone

From what I can tell I think he's a LW/Striker in the same way that Marcus Rashford is (though obv not as good). Mostly an attacking LW, but can also do okay as the Striker in a counter-attacking system when they're not really expected to hold the ball up much. As with Rashford it seems he can also go to RW occasionally, though is less effective there.

He shouldn't be our main CF, but could be a useful additional option if signed along with a more traditional #9. But I think he'd be a slight upgrade on Sema for the LW spot.

De Braaf from Udinese/City? Get Udinese to sign him then send him here on loan or a straight swap for Pussetto.

I really hope that the hierarchy take a serious look at the quality of some of the players we have faced this year and take advantage of our promotion and the premier league promised land.
Reading are not in the playoffs and they have a few quality players that may go for big money but I hope we are in the mix. Similar for teams that don’t get promoted such as Bournemouth who are in a bad financial state according to their books and Danjuma would be an awesome signing.
Even Millwall have 2 desirable signings in Cooper and Wallace, just shows that all teams have their gems.

Moore only has 1 assist this season which is a bit concerning though.

Wallace is a right-winger isn't he? As much as I like him as a player, I think we probably need a left-winger more even with Sarr off to Africa mid-season (Zinckernagel can fill in then)

Playing an absolute blinder for Wet Brum this evening, probably out of our price range though sadly. I suspect bigger clubs than us will be after him too.

Someone told me that we have scouted Yangel Herrera at Granada (on loan from City) a number of times since Christmas. Few PL teams looking at him - Granada have a €20m option to buy but they cannot afford it so very likely he won’t be staying and City will cash in. Very impressive defensive midfielder with ability on the ball.

Also, I think we may well have our eye on a number of players from Ligue 1. French football (PSG excepted) is in dire financial trouble and there is expected to be somewhat of a fire sale right across the league this summer.

I like @lowerrous Ademola Lookman shout. Homegrown and has been decent at Fulham. Plenty of ceiling left for him to grow too. Doubt Leipzig would be against a sale given they are very likely back in CL next season so can’t see him breaking through there.

Danjuma would be a dream but you’d have to think Bournemouth would be looking for £30m+ and we won’t be spending that.

I didn't rate him in the Champ last season and haven't rated him in the PL this season. I think he's a bit of a nothing player really.

He'll have added 5m onto their valuation of him with his hot streak of the last few weeks but if they stay down they'll be in worse shape financially than we would have been. They had a significantly higher wage bill than we did when we were in the PL and generally had lower revenues. If they don't go up, there might be a fire sale of some of their key assets, and I reckon he'd be available for 15-20m, which would enable them to make a significant profit and (together with one or two other sales) allow them to continue to maintain their strong squad. I think he is comparable to Sarr in terms of quality and output (though quite different players in many ways) but I don't think we would ever have sold Sarr for that little due to the large fee we paid for him.

He seems very good and looks well suited to the PL. Strong in the tackle, composed on the ball and a bit of a goal threat as well from deep. Dare I say the way he shuffles the ball about reminds me a bit of Capoue. Just 23 as well.

If we could afford him it would be excellent, and a real statement of intent.

Fulham don't own him, he's on loan from Leipzig, who certainly don't seem like being in financial crisis, but Lookman doesn't appear to be anywhere near their first team. I like that shout too, might not set the world alight, but wouldn't break the bank, and would fit the profile we need, young and with resale value (even if I doubt he'd stick with us if we were to go down again)

I believe Herrera is from Penaranda's neck of the woods in Venezuela, luckily for him he seems to have his head switched on more! Played with Cucho at Huesca, wonder if that would give us a leg up?

The French league has long been a fertile ground for talent, this transfer window...woah nelly could I see a lot of movement

If they have been scouting at Granada for Yangel Herrera I'm sure they must of been impressed with Rui Silva the keeper. I'd have him in anyday over Darlow and he's out of contract this Summer.

Haha, silly me! Think he'd be beyond us tbf, dunno how much they paid for him, but they'll probably be looking for a similar fee as we would for Sarr in the same position

Maybe. But we’d want to break even/get a small profit for Sarr. They spent £12m bringing Danjuma in. £20m would be a 70% profit.
Whether he is beyond us depends who is in for him. I don’t think he will get many/any takers on the continent north of £15m.

Although I suppose the transfer fee would be largely a sunk cost for them (and us re Sarr), we have (or definitely will have in the near future), would they care about breaking even when they see teams interested in spending way more than £12m on a similar standard of player?

Hard to tell. But if they need to sell because they’re screwed financially, they’ll sell to the highest bidder. And there won’t be many bidders given as so many leagues have lost so much money. I suspect that the primary sources of interest in him will be in England, seeing as of late he has only really performed in the Championship. His failure last season in the PL will also give suitors a lot of pause.

So let’s presume then he’ll be headed to the PL. You then have to look at how many teams are interested in spending over £20m to bring in a LW - I’d hazard there aren’t very many. I doubt we’ll be interested at that sort of price either (regrettably as I think he’s quality) but it’ll be a depressed, buyer’s market this summer and I don’t think Bournemouth will have the leverage or financial wiggle room to resist a decent bid.

    • Venezuelan
    • Loaned to Huesca
    • Loaned to Granada
    • Captain of that Venezuela u20 World Cup team
This guy is the very model of a modern major Pozzo player - are we sure we don't own him already? Somebody check down the back of the sofa in the sensory room.

I expect us to be shopping in the bargain basement as usual this summer, particularly with covid so I don't expect much spending without sales first. Then a mix of cheap/free buys and 1 or 2 loans to top up the quality.

I don't know if he's been mentioned before but Lundstram from Sheffield United who had a good season last season may be an option I think on a free.
