Agree with that guy about it being a knee-jerk decision to give him a longer contract, maybe they should have waited until the end of the season
Chalobah against Leicester in the Zola season was harder I reckon, but Gueds wins on style for a rising shot from the angle.
Predict that we'll lose this game, people will say 'performances like this prove we won't go up' then we'll win our next 4 games and still be 2nd.
I just rewatched both Guedioura goals and then Chalobah's for good measure and I would agree with the above. The Chalobah goal is very odd in that you could never imagine him recreating it and also that it came from an Abdi miscontrol (or did he mean that?)
Oddly enough, I feel very confident about this game. Think we will win. Cardiff’s unbeaten run has to come to end sometime. We’ve had a weeks break to get refreshed. Chalobah will be raring to go after missing the last two games. They are playing with their third choice LB against the best right side in the entire league. Supposedly Cardiff let teams get wide against them which will work in our favour if true. We can’t worry about what they will do. We need them to worry about us. If we play our game, keep the ball on the deck, press them and move the ball with pace, we will win. It’s if we start panicking and going long that will kill us. We need to be smart when making tackles as well. Don’t giveaway stupid FK’s and gift them opportunities to put it in the box.
I was coming here to post something similar: their first choice left back is out and so is someone named 'Bagan' who is also some kind of left sided player. If only we had the most talented player in the league wide on our attacking right.
Gosling masterclass incoming. Get that lightweight Danish Jurado out of the team and get Dan in there.
Must be weird to know that you've scored the best goal you'll ever score at 17. Obviously it was an absolute thunder ******* of a strike but it sat up perfectly, the ball bobbled so it was like a volley. Crazy to think that he scored five league goals that 12/13 season and has only managed five in total in the rest of his career to date. I prefer the Guedioura goal as to hit the ball back in the direction it had just been laid off to him, at that pace and the acuteness of the angle required unbelievable technique.
Being Welsh, should I support a Welsh team? No way, there is rivalry with North and South Wales, and Wrexham is about 100 miles away. It's just annoying when they get featured too much on local tv news. 2-1 to us (Watford)
Apparently Zola said to Chalobah before the game that he has to believe in his talent more, play without thinking and just express himself. After the game Chalobah said that if he'd not received that pep talk from Zola, he never would have had the confidence to try shooting from that distance. If you look at the footage , you'll see Chalobah run straight to Zola to celebrate. That's why. That was the brilliance of Zola , in that he knew how to tap into the natural ability of a group of very talented players by encouraging them to express themselves. However , when things started to go wrong tactically he lacked the nous to remedy the problem with analysis. Being a naturally talented player himself, he knew about harnessing the emotional side of a footballer but not the cerebral , tactical side of the game.
I was side on to the shot at The Emirates in line with the Guedioura goal, and Im not exagerating to say that you didnt see it leave his foot. We just assumed it had spooned off high and wide and out of our peripheral vision. I was busy looking into row Z for the ball when I saw the players pealing off to celebrate. He burst the ball ffs! I know on screen it looks like Chalobahs goal was harder, perhaps because it was further out, but Ive never seen a ball move so quick that my eyes didnt register it.
It was a rare goal where you hear the ball hit the net, because of the pace the ball had hit the back of the net before the fans could react, the keeper stood no chance.
I think AGs was the hardest and one of the best shots I’ve ever seen in terms of technique. Non Watford but I’ve always had a soft spot for that Stevie G goal in the fa cup against West Ham. Not particularly hard, but the sheer distance and technique is quite something.
A win would be great but a draw more likely. Not wanting to put a downer on things with stats but, there is only one team that has scored less away goals than us this season, L***n and we have scored in less than half of our games. If the defence can keep them to 0 we have a chance.
I remember that one too. Didn't it crash off the underside of the bar and hit the back of the keepers head then in??
Colin Franks at home vs Stoke in 1970 was a rocket....left the great Gordon Banks clutching at thin air from about 25 yards.
I'm not one for looking up stats but I would wonder how that stat is since Denney being out and formation change. For me this is a much different team in performance recently and full season stats might not show the reality of the current situation. I would be much more confident of scoring away goals now that a few months ago.
