Playing 2 v 3 is the problem. It doesn't matter who the 2 are - Cleverley, Hughes, Chalobah... 442 is so ******* archaic against possession based systems.
They’ve already sent Miles Jacobson out to bat for them on Twitter. Yapping on about the bigger picture and this being in the Top 20 best seasons we have ever had.
Quite possibly correct on both counts. The trouble is does anyone have any faith at all that Gino will appoint him? No. He will announce a chicken breeder from near Fiesole who has a very nice tractor.
Leventhal very quiet after the game. He was pissed off at half time but usually there's something. Something in the air?
Didn’t watch after seeing the clueless goon’s lineup. Sounds like a good decision based on the comments.
If some of our players left in the last window (even Gray) they are likely to have performed better at other clubs, with a better manager and atmosphere. There is a fundamental and extremely serious general failure in the club, which has transferred to the pitch. I genuinely dislike being a doomsday person, but it looks like an impossible hole to get out of. The most likely result, is that the Pozzos say that they have had enough and cut their loses, after recouping some of their loans. It won’t be pretty, but as a previous poster stated, would it be so bad to return to the past where we were an average championship team, with lower expectations. The days of competing at the very top level are behind us for the next few years, at the very least. Frustrating that we threw away opportunities, but I think some poor decision making and a system that fails to give a manager full responsibility and control, has seen its day. Maybe the Rocket Man can sort us out again?
Funny to see him and Roy Moore nearly having a row. Probably fighting over who the bestest fan is. I'm sure Miles will win as he sits in the fancy seats.
That’s what makes this season so frustrating. It’s on Gino. We should be well clear at the top, we’re not because of him.
Not convinced about Hughes. His price and reputation will be sinking every week. He’s hardly standing out when he does play. I imagine he’d go - but i doubt there’ll be a queue either.
I can only guess that Cooky ain't the kind of manager who would put up with owners trying to do his job for him
You guys are mad, I recorded it on Sky then watched it an hour later. Got to 20 minutes and started my x6 fast forward button, stopping it when we appeared to have the ball going forward...... Got to the end of first half really quickly.! Left it on FF making cup of tea - came back to the game at 68 mins, same scoreline. Watched a bit more then went back to FF..... Watched the last 7 minutes with my usual shouting at the TV, thankfully only properly watched half an hour of the game.!!!! We have some huge issues, like playing 2 wingers in a 442, but mainly our guys are incapable of just getting back to footy basics. All our basic game is floored and every team in this division will make it hard on us because of it. Basically we have several players who think they're slumming it in a poor league and can't bring out a fighting game.... Our fighting game is just poor/late clumsy tackles - which adds to the problem. We are a very "broken" team.....
Be very interesting to see if he does one of his post-game/presser lives - imagine after his Pod performance he might not want to for fear of what he won't be able to stop himself saying...
Is he the player we all hoped he could be, destroying the Championship week in week out, no, but we're a much better team with him on the pitch, it all turned to **** against Rangers when he went off, and today when he came on there was definitely an improvement, maybe just maybe we should give him a run of games...preferably in his actual position!
I would play Hughes ahead of chalobah and cleverly in a heart beat. Especially cleverly who seems to struggle more & more with every game.
Yet we still have the best home record in the division (and before the last game the whole of league football). It's the fact that we find it impossible to score away from home, in large part due to inept strikers, that has been the biggest problem this season.
The old guard among the players need to take their share of the blame too in all fairness. Part of ivic's remit when he was bought in was to change the culture of the squad. Unfortunately we have players who despite being paid tens of thousands every week seem to think they shouldn't suffer consequences for turning up to training whenever they like. The football now is far worse than it was under Ivic. We don't even look that solid anymore
It's not just the strikers though. The midfield is so static, off the pace and lacking in energy. If Sarr cant get fouled for a penalty then we early come close to scoring.
It's really even generous to refer to it as 'the football' - there is, in reality, no unified concept of 'the football' on the pitch whatsoever; it's not even that advanced. As I've said before, we look like a bunch of blokes who've turned up for a sunday league match for the first time ever, every time we walk on to the field.
I actually think we were lucky not to have ended up with 9 men on the pitch and not having a penalty given against us too. IMO Serrialta should have got a 2nd yellow and so should have Chalobah. As for the penalty we should have conceded, IMO although Sarr was actually praised by the commentary team for chasing back and saving the day, he in fact clearly pushed the guy he tackled in the back in our penalty area, which should have been a clear penalty in my book.
As has been pointed out time and again on here, even Guardiola couldn't get us promoted while having to play Deeney and Gray up top.
