Given the financial position I doubt we would pay anything more than a nominal fee for a back up keeper.

Well I had no idea about Milan but I'd imagine Gianluigi Donnarumma would need to be moving on for this to happen. Yes he's in his final year but can't see anybody coughing the money up for him.

It was just a suggestion, me putting 2 and 2 together. Him being Serbian and having had him in his team before. Looks a fantastic prospect. But to be honest if ivic said I want you is he brave enough to say no.

He wouldn't be a back up.

I know. But I doubt we will pay anything more than a nominal fee for a back up keeper. Foster will stay #1.

It wouldn't surprise me if we've included a clause saying he's not allowed to start. You know, just for the lolz.

    The Swedish season finishes soon.

Will he just go back out on loan when that ends ?

While we have Foster grinning his way through picking the ball out of the back of the net and making sure he gets the latest Rotherham shirt for the collection. Still, no matter as its ‘only a game’ as he loves to remind us all.

Dahlberg has had an operation today to remove a blood clot behind his collarbone.

    https://bkhacken.se/nyhet/pontus-dahlberg-har-opererats

    Pontus Dahlberg has undergone surgery

Pontus Dahlberg underwent surgery on Friday due to thoracic outlet syndrome, which caused a blood clot behind the collarbone. - Pontus has felt good all the time and now it is nice that the operation has been completed, to prevent future blood clots, says BK Häcken's doctor Henrik Eriksson.

During the Christmas holidays, Pontus Dahlberg had to seek medical attention, with a suspected blood clot in his arm. The investigations found that the goalkeeper had thoracic outlet syndrome - which means an increased pressure on blood vessels and nerves in the passage between the lower part of the neck and the armpit - the cause of the blood clot behind the collarbone.

Pontus Dahlberg underwent surgery today and if the recovery and his rehab go according to hope, the goalkeeper will be back in action in good time for the series premiere this spring.

"Assuming that everything goes well, we expect Pontus to be back in a couple of months, but it is too early to say anything, but we will have to follow the development here in the future," says Henrik Eriksson.

I remember when we just lost squad players to lengthy injuries. Now you only have to be ‘on loan fromWatford’ to be jinxed.

Once we actually need him, that's when he will be sold.

Look what we needed this season, a left back and a striker, look what we sold, just as the season started!!!

We sold them because we needed the cash. Otherwise the sensible thing to do would have been to sell the players who didn't want to play for us and use that cash to reinvest in players in the same positions who did want to join us. Either the owners didn't have the cash to do that or they deemed we didn't need replacements.

Or our owners are idiots and didn't have the balls to shift out wage drainers like Deeney and keep a promising striker in his place. Although in saying that, his hold over this club probably prevented any sort of talk.

Penaranda maybe? He's more mobile and at least gets into positions. Yes he can be a bit sh!te but nowhere near as bad as Captain Marvel.

I know we all seem to hate Deeney now but if some of the other younger strikers we have had the same attitude and desire as he did after coming back from jail then they might have got in the team .

And I include Gray in that - hasn’t improved on the pitch or learnt his lesson off it either .

You do realise real life is nothing like Football Manager, right? It's not like Gino can go into his office, click on Deeney's name, click "Offer to Clubs" and offload him inside a couple of minutes while pocking a tidy transfer fee.

Offloading a player requires a buyer. No one wanted to buy Deeney. That's pretty much all there is to it.

That would be fair enough if his decline were something that's just happened recently and not something that's been happening since 2016

You talk like the hierarchy at the club believe that Deeney is the problem as much as the forum does. It's pretty clear they don't and despite the fact that they all seem to go and watch the games in person, they can't see where the issue is.

The context of the discussion was selling him instead of Suarez/Estupinan, not whether or not we should have sold him years ago.
