If ‘karma’ truly is a real thing, those who criticised Burnley over the past few years and said they were grateful we didn’t stoop to that style must be feeling a bit twitchy - nothing I’ve seen from us this season isn’t exactly the style of play they serve up...we are just less effective at it.

The most disappointing thing of all is just how hideous our football is to watch. Absolutely no joy in watching our matches at all. It's more a chore that you feel obliged to struggle through.

There hasn't really been anything enjoyable about our style of play up to this point, has there - it's a bit like watching England the vast majority of the time; even someone like Slovakia manage to outpass us and bypass our midfield, even if our big beasts end up knocking in the required goal or two to march towards almost inevitable tournament qualification. In our case, though, we aren't currently in possession of the requisite big beasts, and the reason Burnley fans defend their team and style to the death is because it's effective. That's certainly not something we've looked in abundance so far.

One thing that made me quite sad tonight was the lack of goal celebration when Sarr scores tonight .

I know Covid and lack of crowds dampens goal celebrations but tonight was especially lacklustre .

Small point but a lot can be inferred about a team spirit from watching how well the whole team celebrates a goal .

I wish we could score from set plays like they do or even defend them (I know Spurs did score from one last night) but usually Burnley at least look able to ccope.

Pedro is just living off scraps playing up front, so often he has to even get into our half to get a touch of the ball. Please can we just put someone else up front and have him either out wide or further back? Him on the wing or in the hole between the midfield and the attack could be fun...

When I saw tonight's team sheet I thought for the first time this season we were actually fielding a half decent team, and on paper that certainly looked to be the case, however as we all know football is not played on paper and somehow that team managed to produce our worst display of this season so far. We were absolutely pathetic, and were unbelievably lucky to get a point, in fact had it not been for Big Ben we could easily have lost that game by 3 or 4 goals.

I could not believe just how bad we were, most of the team just looked totally lethargic and half hearted, and the only players that came out with any credit at all were: - Foster MotM by a mile, Kiko also had a good game, and Ekong did OK. As for the rest they could hardly manage to pass to a team mate most of the time. Ironically I have to give Murray a little credit though, because he actually had a reasonable cameo and it was probably his best performance for us so far.

Having said all that I think that tonight should be put down to a bad night at the races and hopefully from now on we will get our act together and get back on track for promotion. Furthermore although tonight was truly a shocking performance by the team I think that those of you who are slagging off Vlad are being way too harsh on the man, as so far he has performed miracles IMO even though he still hasn't got anywhere near a full squad to choose from.

We were **** tonight and probably should have been completely thrashed, but we weren't, so lets go again at the week-end and get back on the winning trail.

Well, in a perverse way, I guess it's a positive thing that we don't have to play Akinfenwa every week! Reminds me of Deeney in a lot in many ways, very visible in the media, pretty much synonymous with his team in the eyes of the casuals, and loves to play on his 'big man' role, but he did well, albeit against a defence that were rabbits in the headlights against him...

I do see what you mean by that, but I get the feeling with the sheer financial gap between the top and the bottom of the Championship that it might take a few more points to win promotion this season. I'm definitely not panicking yet, especially as Hughes is yet to come in and we're effectively playing without a recognised striker, but we still can't really afford to just chuck away points with abject performances like that

To be quite honest, there's only so much he can do when the midfield put in an utterly **** performance like that. All things considered, he's done pretty well so far, it's only really Reading which was a complete disaster for him. Besides, Sarr is at his best when he's given room to work with, and other than the couple of minutes we were ahead for, he was never really going to be given that time and space

OK well we know that was bad but with nearly all players soon to be available and others finally getting match fit things aren't all doom and gloom.
Young players all have ups and downs, perhaps more so when so many games are being played.
The left back issue is a massive mistake and Kiko will have to play there until we sign one or Masina is available.
If King Ken plays further up on the left we will have adequate defensive cover on that side and good quality going forward.
Hughes will bring energy into midfield and that should mean the lacklustre display of yesterday will not be repeated.
Deeney or Gray will give us better options as the main forward with Pedro and Sarr adding a constant threat.
I'm confident there will soon be a significant improvement and that results will follow.
I hope it starts at Oakwell.

Shocking performance and it seemed to me we turned up thinking the game was already won. Wycombe were absolutely excellent and if they had a clinical striker we could’ve easily shipped 4-5 goals. Good luck to them this season.

For us, hopefully a bit of a wake up call but still a long way to go.

Yes, that was not good to see. Compare his reaction with the reactions from Pedro when he scores, it almost looked like Sarr was disappointed to score. Sadly, I think it demonstrates a problem with his attitude.

Mind you, there was a similar reaction to the goal on the Shoutbox to be fair.

Akinfenwa is the ghost of Christmas future. In six years time our very own tribute act will be rolling back the years with a performance hauled from the memory bank against an uninterested opponent, whilst confirming he’s been having multiple conversations with top-half Premier League clubs.

I didn't see a lack of willing or urgency to get forward last night, I thought they fought pretty hard, and I didn't see anybody being a passenger like we did last season.

What I did see was an inability to do the basics that any of us amateurs would have learned when we were kids.

For example, I was always taught to pass the ball to a player in the same colour shirt, or to control the ball without giving it away. Neither of which our players seemed to have grasped at all. Our first touches last night were pinging all over the place, and our passes were hurried and panicky. We have better players, but it wasn't apparent.

Ivic complained he needed a left back and I felt sorry for him, well he hasn’t got one has he? So perhaps he should just get on with it and find a way to play successfully without one. I’d suggest that the majority of championship teams don’t have decent left backs and they all seem to manage.

Apparently if we didn’t keep Sarr, or if we didn’t keep Capoue we’d have no chance of going up, yet there they were in the team last night and they were awful, was it because we didn’t have a left back? Or was it just that they themselves were crap?

We can’t score goals, so in my basic understanding of football I’d say we’re missing a centre forward way more than a left back.

Imagine having £130k/week combined worth of centre forwards on your books in the Championship and neither of them able to contribute anything 8 games into the beginning of the season. Yep, that's Watford.

They're not known as the "Buck's Brazil" for nothing*.

Looks like I made the right decision to watch teams GB lose to the Netherlands (Ladies 1-1, 3-1 in shootout) and (Men 1-0). TBF the girls had 9 first choice players out injured and still put on a very credible performance the top ranked Dutch.

No they won't. Just because we have bought poorly, doesn't mean anyone will bail us out.

Sarr was never the player we needed for our team and still isn't. He's extremely quick but that's about it. Very limited and probably hindered in his development at Watford.

He did well for the balls that lead to Saturdays goal and one of Pedros goals, but unless the opposition play a vaguely high line he’ll struggle to do much.

I don't blame him so much, as us for buying him. Liverpool were arrogant enough to leave 40 yards behind their back line and he thrived, but any other team with a brain won't do that, at least not at this level.

He is not the player we needed last season and we don't need him this season either. If we had got 25m for him we could have radically strengthened the team for this level of football.

JP is another one. Clearly a very good footballer, but I wonder how motivated he's going to be when we are mid table in English winter and the service to him continues to be gash. I bet he's envious of his fellow South American wonderkids playing in Spain, where I'm sure he would thrive.

I thought that Kabasele was at fault for their goal. Lack of concentration before the corner was delivered and let the goalscorer get a run on him. He was also involved in Bournemouth's equaliser on Saturday with poor co-operation leading to the corner. Really needs to sharpen up.

I think the passing is the issue.

We don’t keep the ball well enough at times and put ourselves under pressure.

    Particularly at the back.

On the occasions we did get into their box we had chances but finished poorly.

Let’s not be to reactionary here. Incredibly poor and disappointing performance, draw a line under it and move on. We all know the formation isn’t working, we all know Ivic wanted a left back. 15 points from 8 games. Plenty reasons to be optimistic, plenty reasons to be pessimistic.

I agree with your general point about Sarr but suggest (and could be wrong) that as we likely only paid a small amount up front with the rest still owed to Rennes then any sale at that sort of price would not have generated any cash to strengthen as we would have to settle up what we still owed on him.

The accounts for last season should be out in a month or so-as a few are predicting they will likely show why we didn't spend any money in the transfer window and are very reliant on Udinese for incomings and to carry some outgoing players to balance the books. Which I know is one of your main concerns-which I share.

Couldn't put it any better tbh. I was absolutely unmoved when Sarr scored because it was totally unjust imo. It really is a vile style of football we attempt. I will state again a 38 year old statue absolutely bossed our defence which was really worrying. We couldn't of complained if Wycombe had scored 4. The only credit I can give is to Foster who single handedly got us a point somehow.

No, but he was probably confused about what to do as he’s playing for a Head Coach who barely seems to encourage the putting of the ball on our opponent’s net.
