Depends where you are cycling. Some lovely biking abroad. Terrific scenery and people to meet. And cyclists. You should not stereotype. I vaguely knew the following lady. A more charming and erudite lady you could not hope to meet and a very keen cyclist. RIP. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-22090284
That sounds horrible. It certainly reinforces my view that cyclists and cars need to be separated on the current road system. What a horrible waste of a life. But again I’d like to stress that my initial point was that I found it weird that a premier league footballer preferred long distance cycling (something that the majority seem to find fairly boring) to doing a job that most people would sacrifice a lot to do. It takes a particular person to prefer to cycle than be a premier league footballer, and in the words of Ben himself, a particularly boring person. But I didn’t realise agreeing with Ben would derail the thread, which was my fault, so I’ll respectfully bow out and let people disagree with the both of us.
Many people might find watching 22 people kicking a ball around for 90 minutes boring . Including some footballers! ( Capoue) I suppose it's different to what most do - playing golf or on the games consoles.
Love cycling love watching football. We’re lucky to still have BF, just hope he doesn’t spend too much time vloging and cycling therefore not practicing being a top gk. I think the editing of the bike build looked really professional, I wonder if he pays someone to do it?
He’s not a footballer . He’s a goalkeeper . They stand a bit doing nothing for 90% of the day . Going for a bike ride and cooking an omelette is a step up in excitement for him.
I was a bit sceptical of his videos at the beginning but I have to say they are very well made and pretty entertaining too.
Aye, he had a great game overall. I mentioned it as it wasn't as clear from the normal camera angle and I assumed it was entirely because of the bounce of the ball. Wasn't really a criticism, he even calls it a mistake in the video title
Thought it was very strange to give away the tell for how he knew where the penalty was going. He mentioned in the post match interview that the goalkeeping coach had spotted it and told him. We have to play this bunch again and it won't look so smart if they get another penalty then.
Mind games, innit. He knows we know his tell, so does he now try and go the opposite way to his tell, or does he gamble Foster/keepers know that and assume he’ll go the opposite way. He’ll be riddled with doubt every time he steps up to take a pen. Foster playing the long game.
Yeah, it was definitely a blow by Foster on behalf of the goalkeeper's union rather than a magnanimous gesture.
His YouTube channel is a great watch overall. Lots of insight into what goes on day to day and it shows the relationship the players have with each other. I get the feel that the environment is very happy and positive now which is a good sign. Keep it Ben!
Makes a lot of Hollywood saves and at times some very good ones, but his kicking is woeful and he played a part today in the goal we conceded, again. He's not a major concern but I'd like to see us move on next season.
Yeah I'm not really getting the love-in for Foster of late, a few errors crept into his game last season, and it's the same again now. Don't get me wrong, he's still very good, but I'd hope we start to replace him next season (can we get Dahlberg back by then? Seems to be doing well in Sweden)
A fair assessment I think. He does make great saves but I suppose every keeper is remembered more for the errors. His kicking is poor, especially so yesterday.
I agree about his kicking, but other than that he is still a PL standard Keeper and I think we are lucky to have him.
Ironically, I remember when we signed him back 2 years ago, and his kicking seemed brilliant. Was that just because I was comparing him to Gomes whose kicking is weak, or because his kicking has gone downhill of late?
His home debut v Brighton (We won that one) had near perfect kicking from his goal kicks and his drop kicks. It went downhill very fast after that game on that front. His kicking now is arguably worse than Gomes', at least on par with.
