It's like offering Nath the role of President of the Troy Deeney fan club. Pointless, meritless and laughable to the extreme.

I can only hope this is their way of easing him out. Offer him a **** role so he can't say yes.

Life isn’t black and white, and although Giraldi has become the most disliked person at the club in many quarters, I hope people will also remember his part in bringing many decent players to the club.

    That said..

A change had to be made after the shambles of the past year or so. I can forgive bad signings because any signing represents a gamble, but what was unforgivable was the lack of signings when it was crying out that our squad was lacking in many areas. That ultimately cost us our place in the big time. A change had to be made and it has been. I’ve no issue with Giraldi returning his former scouting role. If GP thinks he can do that and unearth a few diamonds, why cut off our nose to spite our face? What none of us liked on here was his too powerful influence in tactics, team selections, helping find a new coach etc, and it seems he won’t have any of these responsibilities now.

Short-term we now have a person responsible for our transfers who is new to the league and the country and is bound to need time to find his feet. We will also soon have a new Head Coach too, and key players lining up through their agents to secure moves away from our club. I think the next few weeks will be full of churn and new appointees having to learn fast, and personally I’m not expecting a fast start to the new season.

Yes he did but neglecting the glaringly obvious defence issues outweighed the good I'm afraid. Plus his so called interfering on the training and games.

He's going to be in charge of scouting ways to annoy the head coach on matchdays.

Whilst I think it’s an urgently needed refresh to get Giraldi away from the squad, I really hope they have tailored this ‘Technical Director’ role at the same time - otherwise it will just be a case of swapping one interfering Italian for another.

I think Giraldi had become too familiar a face - but, I suspect he was also a victim of doing what he was asked to do. I’d bet that Gino wanted him at such close quarters - it’s this that needs to change, just as much as the individual in the role, if not more.

So he is still here - just in a different role.

Probably still watch over training somehow.

Still at the club? Will make no difference what role he's in, he'll still be lurking in the changing room, watching over the Head Coach and making bad transfers.

There’s rumours that the Pozzo’s are creating a hub for their scouting for both owned clubs back in Italy. Not inconceivable he gets put in charge of that and would then not be near the training ground.

I really doubt he’ll be seen if he’s removed from his role. That’s the job for the new guy...

Someone's got to run one of the smack bars and I see this as a great opportunity for him to expand his range of skills.

Hopefully he won't follow in a certain England manager's footsteps, and try and sign Benson and Hedges from the lower leagues.

With Arsenal sacking most of their scouting network, there should be quite a few candidates looking for work. Mind you we want the scout who recommended Martinelli not the one who suggested Denis Suarez

Suarez is a decent player! He was just unfit and/or injured!

The ones to avoid are the ones who have suggested their CB’s.

We were linked to Martinelli and tried to sign him about six months before Arsenal did I believe.

I think the club do this as a joke on the fans. They make out they sign players when they haven't (Gueye), they don't announce people that have joined like Giaretta, and probably Ivic, Ngakia.

If it's not going to make them some money, then there's no point in putting out statements. We'll find out who the new coach is when he pops up on SkySports for the pre-match talk before our first game of the season.
