Smaller clubs going out of business. The scum staying up. Dirty Leeds promoted. The orns going down. Anything I've missed?

I’ve spent the last few years kind of hoping to play the Scum as it’s been ages and we’ve been several classes above.

This is the worst way to finally meet; with us heading in the wrong direction at a rapid pace.

Scum scored midway through second half if I recall. Malky had a perfectly legitimate goal ruled out in injury time as well!

The happiest I have been about Watford in months is knowing that we’ll be playing Luton again next season. This is what it’s all about. Stick your heavily marketed tv show up your a**e.

I see what you mean. It was only going to happen like this though. I can't see Luton getting promoted to the PL so we'd have to get relegated if there was ever a chance of us playing eachother.

Forest total melt down. With five games to go they had a chance of automatic with 68 points. Instead they lose three, draw two and let Swansea overturn a five goal difference advantage on the last day of the season.

it’s the sort of performance that should have Gino hammering down the doors to appoint their manager as our next Head for Sacking

I always consider QPR the proper Derby. Probably because South Oxhey was knee deep in R supporters. Hope both Fulham and Brentford miss out and Swansea snatch the last promotion spot. Cardiff is an easier parking option for the away match.

The good thing is that this is pretty much their ceiling, us? Well, we could be absolutely anything next season...

I suppose places like that and, say, Harrow, would have their fair share of Hornets and Rs fans, but ultimately, do they really care about us when they have Fulham, Brentford and Chelsea also in their vicinity?

I've hoped we never play them again. Bunch of neanderthal thugs with a shíte team and a god awful embarrassing ground.

Don't need their kind gracing the football league.

Cups. We nearly got them last season, or the one before. There were four teams left in the draw, us and scum being two of them.

I realise that there will quite a few fans who haven't seen us play the scum before and are looking forward to it. It's horrible especially up there as you walk through somebody's back garden to get in the ground. It's in a horrible area, horrible fans, it will no doubt kick off all over the place. Not one I'm especially looking forward to and certainly not one I will take my son to as I witnessed one of their lot hit a 5 year old perched on his dads shoulders a few years ago.
    Loved winning there 4-0 though

This exactly. A lot of football fans will sit behind a screen saying rude things but believe me, you turn up there in anything yellow you'll get a whack. I won't be going that's for sure, mainly because I'd have to enter Luton.

Brentford is in fact geographically closer to Watford than QPR or Luton.
Taking away Spurs, Arsenal and Chelsea fans:
South Harrow would lean towards QPR and Brentford. Central Harrow has a mixture. North Harrow, Pinner and Northwood have more Watford fans.

Since we’ve last played them Ashley Young has earned us a record transfer outlay (at the time), moved onto a bigger club, won several trophies, became captain for them, played for England, won lots of caps and played all over the park for them, became a figure of hatred and played for a big European club (albeit intermittently). It’s about time we played them again.

Will Wilmot be willing to take a step down and come back to Watford? Im looking forward to a Wycombe derby in the champo. I have 0 animosity towards them, not sure how they feel about us.

You lot trying to look for positives... it's f*cking embarrassing that despite all the circumstances over the last 15 or so years we have allowed them to catch up with us again.

Went a few times in the 70's and 80's, it was like a war zone. Adrenalin mixed with fear, a terrifying experience - Still kept going though!

Would Swansea want him back if they go up?

They did well getting Brewster in on losn - exciting young talent with an eye for goal and actually played him.

Ofcourse Steve Cooper has connections having worked for England youth yran .

    My brothers were.
Was that when Tom W kicked the dressing room door in?
I've been chased in Sainsbury's car park, had rocks and stones thrown at me, had 'fans' in the main stand clambering over seats to get at us when we won 2-0 and away fans banned and witnessed their 'fans' fighting each other.
Hideous, flea ridden khazi of a dump. Makes Smellhurst seem like the Emirates.

Back in the late 70's early 80's it was literally like a war zone up there. You knew you would have to throw punches at some time of the day.

Bit like going to Wembley with our own d*ckhead fans then.

I didn't as only 11 and my next door neighbour aged 17 who i went to most games with then said I would be a liability as he was going.

Rather than recount his story there is a post from a well known Outlaws poster-

" Legendary Battle of the Oak road night-3 players sent off, hundreds injured-never seen such horrendous levels of violence. Watford turned up for the one and only time with lots of Arsenal in tow. A Watford chap had his cheek ripped out with a meat hook"

"Crowd 25,253 with 9,670 Watford -a night to be forgotten"

They even had a song about it -"Who's that knocking on the window, who's that knocking on the door, Its Furphy and his mates and they're knocking at the gates but they wont get in the Oak rd any more"

There was a national newspaper strike the next day-Labour Day May 1st so no reports of the hundreds injured.

Over 50 years on and over 14 years since we have played them hopefully such experiences are confined to a bygone age. Hey even history might be re-written to eradicate such an incident.
