We were awful first half, but actually thought we did well until their goal in the second half. The problem is Deeney, which I hate to say as he is a Watford Legend. I'm not really sure what he offers anymore, especially playing like that.
I suppose technically it’s doable, if they pull their finger out and learn basic passing and have some shooting practice. I do completely agree that playing like that, we’re not winning any of them. We’ve tried changing managers. A lot. I think it’s time for the board to admit that the players are the issue.
Not a clue, maybe doing a Kabasele and having a quick lay down? Initially I was blaming Cathcart and Sarr, then realised neither of them should've even needed to be over there!
Gerri's injury has ****ed us as well. We have no other wingers. Teams know that Sarr is our only threat now.
It should surely be possible to play ordinary, direct football. So yes. Lumping it up to a striker should work. It’s worked before. But not if you have a toothless attack.
Capoue's free kick that went miles over after 2 minutes of lining it up is my favourite Pozzo Era moment. Hollywood pass here and there, doesn't do much else.
I mean, at this point, can it really be that all the managers are clueless? We just have a group of utterly rancid, spineless losers for a playing squad, most of which should have been moved on a long time ago. I don't think Pearson is without his faults and I agree there doesn't seem to be a clear tactical plan, except for pass backwards and sideways, get closed down, panic and hoof forward, but the players really are just incompetent ******* who must be a nightmare to try and do anything with.
At least three set pieces were good though. Dawson headed at goal when he should have put it back across early on. Deeney with his header blocked on the line. And then Masina missed the late free header. Yeah a lot of others were flunked or shanked to the first man, but a competent PL side should score 1 in 3 surely? If the manager can’t rely on that then he’s got a difficult job.
He really showed us the goals he could of scored for us if we had him. Oh no, just another striker who failed to score from the chances he had.
When's the last time we scored a header from a corner? Spurs last season? Almost as disgusting as the stat that the last player to score a free kick for us was Almen Abdi.
Capoue has been pretty much our best player again this season (not that he's had much competition). He's been poor since the restart but he deserves way more credit than you've shown there.
Diabolical stuff served up by two poor teams in the self-styled best league in the world. Capoue lining up the last minute free-kick and floating it right onto the head of the first man was a thing of beauty. He even managed to do the same when he was given a second opportunity to get the ball in the box. Real lack of forward thrust without Doucoure playing. If there’s anything close to a positive, it’s that Welbeck played a full game, and I thought he grew into the game as it went on and looked sharper. Still nowhere near good enough. Pearson got the team selection all wrong today. Shame we didn’t throw Pedro on at the end when there’s nothing to lose.
The game plan seemed to be hoof to Deeney and hope the ball somehow bounces in behind for Sarr. It's fashionable to have a pop at Pereyra but he retains the ball, and from time to time makes something happen. Especially if you're Roger the cabin boy
That is a very damaging defeat, full of inept performances. Surely no other team does as many foul throws per season? Foster - appalling judgement first half, terrible kicking throughout. Why is he kicking it so flat and hard? Femenia - foul throw moron. Couldn't even see him in the zoomed out replay of the goal. Where was he? Masina - back to uncertain, brain-dead player he looked like when he first joined. At least he tries to get the ball back in play when we're behind though, unlike the rest of the team Kabasele - picked up where he left off against Leicester. No more starts this season please Dawson - ok I guess, got done by very good movement for the goal. Capoue - terrible for second game in a row. Can't take a free kick so why bother letting him? Cleverley - rightly hooked, looked like a little kid playing against men. Rancid set pieces Hughes - rubbish decision making today and beaten to the ball most of the time Sarr - feel sorry for him playing with this shower. Deeney - exactly the performance you've come to expect against any remotely physical centre backs, anonymous. No movement, no leadership. Welbeck - he's done. Let's not even bother with the pay as you play contract. Any footballer with the slightest awareness would've rolled in Sarr for a tap in - we had two players free, about ten yards from their goal, bearing down on the keeper and we didn't even have a shot Doucouré - arrival coincided with our dominance of second half but soon gave up like the rest of them Cathcart - fine I guess. Annoying habit of reading the game fractionally too late so ends up knocking the ball out of play, eating up more time Chalobah - he's done as well. Only good for trying to win corners by playing the ball off people Gray - we all know he's been crap all season but ever single ball we launched at his head against Mee and Tarkowski. Didn't do anything wrong today, just didn't do anything That was a vile, spineless performance and a huge missed opportunity. They were visibly tired and we messed it up. When everything is so flat, why not just throw on Pedro? He's young, fearless i(his highlights reel from Brazil is anything to go by) and might just do something unexpected. Don't remember being so angry at a performance for years. We've just thrown away a great chance to take a step towards safety. Burnley with their depleted squad and less rest, had all the best chances and could've won by more.
Absolutely nothing, but the majority of our fans are still obsessed with him like it's 2015 and won't move on. Zero pace, zero movement, zero goal threat. Just a big lump that strolls around and wins the occasional flick on. He is complete crap, at this point. He's not alone in that, obviously.
I wanted Pereyra substituted in the last game, but having seen DW's contribution since I will have him back in the team. He doesn't do enough, but more than DW.
It’s better in the Championship. It’s better in the Championship. <keep repeating it and it will be true>
Spineless and, more particularly, brainless. Due to some other stuff going on in my life, this really could be it for me - so many relegations since my first season in 1970, but this is the worst. i cannot even be bothered to list the **** from tonight- tactics, personnel, formation, lack of common sense.. wtf was pearson thinking?
Shouldn’t of tried matching them 442, it allowed them to play as we looked lost first half. 2nd half better trying to play our way. Pope controlled his area well and mee was the motm but we helped them by not being clinical in final third/final ball. Wasted opportunity against a poor burnley side. Not watching Sunday cos of work could be a good thing cos Southampton will be a much harder game. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
