Which game do we fans get banned from first?

Well, presumably ticketing could be rolled over to next year.

Travel is more of an issue, admittedly.

Yeah, ticket won't be a problem for refund or roll over. But unless there's government advice against all but essential travel to where I'm going (Dublin) at the time, there'll be no insurance payout for several hundred quid of hotel and airfare. Unusually the ticket is by far the cheapest thing in this case.

Two days in Dublin won't be the end of the world though I guess if I can't get my cash back.

Do you know how/whether other sporting events are dealing with this? I see, for example, that the Paris Marathon has been moved from April to October.

Presumably there will be similar losses for many spectators if the PL carries on behind closed doors anyway.

I think I'd prefer the season to be cancelled or delayed than to have games played behind closed doors. It's not fair that at a crucial point in the season we might have to play home matches without any home advantage, against teams who we have already played at their full and partisan stadiums. Yes I know we would also have to play away at empty grounds, but the same applies to those teams for those games.

Football is cyclical anyway. Nobody "wins the football", it just carries on season after season. Winning a World Cup is a bit special but club football really won't be affected if a year is written off.

Yes Liverpool and Leeds will be a bit upset, but if they are as good as they say they are, they will have a good season next season. Share some PL money with the EFL so no teams go bust as a result.

This has caused the obligitory plastic scouser in the office to literally self combust every time someone mentions that the league will be cancelled this season. Every cloud and all that.

Games without crowds is a given. I'm still not clear on what happens when a player at a club get the virus and the rest of the squad need to go into quarantine.

It’s only a given if the season continues on its current schedule.

Yes, without crowds. Unless the fixture list is stopped, players will catch it.

Which is my point. Stopping/postponing fixtures is an alternative option.

Yes and my point is if they don't stop or postpone the schedule, and they haven't yet said that they will, what would happen if one club's squad is decimated by an infected player and the rest in quarantine ? Do they then have to cancel/postpone everything as they have just done in Spain for Real Madrid? However what if it was a small div 2 team ?
My gut feel is that they will want to try to continue the schedule without crowds and so at some point my above scenario is likely to occur.

The interesting point may well come if they say they are carrying on BHC, but then individual players refuse to play.

    Yes it has.

Bit different to telling a PL club they now no longer have home advantage. I’d take the PL to court if I were a chairman of a relegated club.

If the government ban gatherings of crowds of more than 500, say, but allow professional sports to continue then the PL will have to follow, so it's unlikely such a court case would happen.

I was just responding to your statement that behind closed doors is a 'given'. It isn't, because those other alternatives exist. But I agree that this seems the frontrunner at present.

I don't think I ever said that ?? I said that it was a given that a player will be infected and a squad decimated if we carry on the season as scheduled, whether with crowds or BCD.

Rumours from inside club, that’s all at the moment. Regardless of which club this is if an EPL player tests positive I can’t envisage another game being played in the next month or so, BCD or otherwise.

    BBC imply it's Leicester (3 self-isolating)

Either way, that will be enough to postpone Saturday's match
