That's just one year's results, the Bundesliga has for years been considered on a par with the Prem and la liga, and it wasn't long ago at all that German clubs were going further than any English clubs in Europe. The PL is obviously going to have received a major and slightly disproportionate coefficient boost for having literally provided all four finalists in European competition last season, but unless we're predicting that to happen with any regularity it will level out to a more representative degree, at least.

Dutch league is all the way down in 12th in the UEFA Club Coefficient, Bundesliga 3rd:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UEFA_coefficient#Men's_Club_coefficient

It did rather surprise me quite how low down the league was. Even just counting last season, with Ajax doing so well, it was still just 7th.

I think they have more strength in depth than those two. Strong European pedigree, higher wages, higher transfer spend, higher attendances. I think they are above Italy and France in the European coefficient thing. (If that has merit or not is another question!)

And signed by a team that already have Dunk, Duffy, Clarke....they still want to add quality to the depth they have.

Now compare that to us and our CB’s.

When these leagues are compared, I think you can only really compare them through the teams at the top of each league.

Below them, the PL is far superior to all other European leagues in my opinion.

Basically, Lukebakio is **** because we sold him, automatically. He had an attitude problem because we sold him.

Didn't someone post stats that showed he had the best stats for a young player in Europe?

Considering we can't buy anyone, I find it amazing that we are happy about selling a player who had the potential to get us 10/15 goals/assists for a fee that most bemoan as an amount that gets you nothing these days.

    But Gino is a genious.

I very much suspect the conversation on their forum is along the line of why are we wasting £22m on another centre back when we need to look at the lack of quality in midfield or attack. They relied on Glenn Murray for goals and people think we've got issues. I find it a strange signing unless Dunk goes to Leicester when Maguire inevitably goes to United. Maybe that's what the Maguire transfer is waiting for

By all accounts Clarke is going to Derby on loan so that’s why they are signing Webster. But the point remains, they have 2 solid and highly rated CB’s, and they are backing that up with quality depth.

And I don’t think their boards will be saying that as they are currently in talks with Brentford for Maupay and Leganes for Youssef En-Nesyri for £18m each. And they want both.

They are potentially about to drop £60m.

Sure, but the third of those years our coefficient rankings were almost exactly the same, and the year before that it was Germany that outperformed us. I just don't think you can make broad judgements about changes in the quality of a consistently top level league based on two (or three) years performance.

Scored against Bayern Munich on what I think is his league debut whilst we have Isaac Sucess & Will Hughes wide and Troy Deeney & Andre Gray up front.

Let’s not act as though people on here weren’t absolutely hammering Gino for signing another useless no-hoper from his favorite Belgian agent after his useless cameo at West Ham.

4"44' in to the video a deflected effort. But at least an attempt on goal which is more than what we saw last weekend at times with slow passing side to side for much of the time.

I think Lukebakio looked a bit light weight for the Premier League, which is why we have spent more on Sarr. I do think he will do well in Germany though.

Very true. He was king dud from the Belgian super agent! Still, shame we sold him really as soon as he showed promise. Of all the Peneranda/Cucho/Success types he is the only one who showed rapid progress in a top league and he's gone straight away.

This sort of reasoning is often used, however i'm not sure how 'logical' it really is based on the following:

-You can't 'tackle' anymore in the EPL.
-Many lightweight players have and still do thrive in the EPL, e.g. Hazard, Delia, Salah, BobbyP, the entire Muff team and Whiny Wilf of Nigelsville.
I would suggest that pace is a far more useful asset to have than...err...bulk, see our own captain for obvious reasons.
-German football is pretty similar in terms of physicality to the EPL.
-At 21/22 if he needs to bulk a little he could do so (assuming you reject the previous points).

I would suggest the main reason he was sold was due to him wanting out. He probably looked at those ahead of him in the pecking order and, understandably, thought he deserved a chance. It made sense for the club to accept the money, rather than keep an unhappy player. Dodi also probably felt more at home in a league where he was given an opportunity.

(This is in no way meant to be a dig at you, as I have used similar reasoning in the past!).

He bulked up a bit over the course of his season in the Bundesliga. I think his main problem is now actually more with his stamina than his strength.

I'm pretty sure it's a lot of the same people making both arguments, too.

Just like certain parties will rip on Okaka when he plays before pretending he's the answer a few months later. Psychologists could write some fascinating papers from studying the behavior of fans on football forums. :D

Maybe the player really didnt like being in England. Ian Rush hated Italy. If you are not comfortable where you work it's probably best to move employers.

Just came on for Hertha, first thing he did was dribble past a load of Dusseldorf players and set his teammate up for their third goal. Pace, control and composure. Sigh.

I still think he's a similar level to Sarr.
