The Hornets are delighted to announce the signing of exciting young winger Dodi Lukebakio. The gifted Belgium Under-21 international, who arrives from Charleroi, has agreed a four-and-a-half-year contract at Vicarage Road. https://www.watfordfc.com/teams/first-team/official-hornets-sign-lukebakio
So this ****** can't even make the bench. More money flushed down the ******* by the pozzos following useless advice from The Best Scouting Network In The World. I despair!
I've been a bit out of the loop the last couple of weeks... whats the deal with Lukebakio? Injured? Just crap?
Has all the hallmarks of being a makeweight in some behind the scenes deal with Gino. I’d bet he ends up at Udinese or elsewhere next year.
Not injured. Just another pointless signing from the same agent that brought us Oulare, Sven Kums and Okaka. I don't get it, even the Charleroi and Anderlecht fans weren't impressed with him - similar to the Brugge fans who were laughing when we bought Oulare for the price we did. I wonder how well these players are scouted - Oulare had only 9 starts and Lukebakio 18 in a crap league by the time we signed them. What have we possibly seen that makes us think they'll be Premier League players?
He's a kid who has played a handful of games. Nobody said he was the Belgian Messi or that he'd be pushing for the first eleven. It's quite clear that he's raw but Gracia has said he's happy with his attitude so I don't get why you keep digging him out.
We do this to young players with alarming frequency, stalling their careers. Berghuis, Oulare, Doucouré - all young players who were either regulars or had recently broken into first teams. We bring them over and then decide not to play them at all and then give them no competitive football at a key stage of their development. We're lucky we had a crippling injury crisis or Doucouré's Watford career would've been one sub appearance and a run out in the League Cup. Berghuis has got 17 goals and 14 assists this season, you can't tell me he wouldn't have been better than Carrillo. Lukebakio has been here two months and can't even make the match day squad ahead of Jerome Sinclair. If he's that far down the pecking order, why didn't we loan him straight out again after signing him?
Found it odd that we would swap Lukebakio for Success. I know Success has had his issues, but he's vastly more experienced at the top level
According to Belgian press, Club Brugge are interested in signing him this summer. Doesn't say whether permanent or on loan. http://www.voetbalnieuws.be/news/29...-komst-van-exspeler-van-anderlecht-wel-zitten
All these debates we have about changing/keeping the head coach, yet Giraldi's role never seems to come in to question. How responsible is he for our transfer activity? He seems to be bullet proof at the club when you consider the amount of strange signings we make??
I don’t think it’s necessarily that strange or baffling. The club are speculating to accumulate on a load of young players and I’m sure not all signings are expected to go into the first team or ever play for Watford. A load of them will turn out to be duffers like Oulare, Sinclair and others and I’m sure that’s modelled for. All it takes is the odd jewel like Hernandez, Richarlison or Doucoure and it more than accounts for the duffers. It seems a pretty sensible transfer strategy to me that will help the long term future of the club.
https://www.voetbal24.be/news/club-brugge-krijgt-belangrijk-nieuws-over-transfer-lukebakio? According to this article, he'd be happy to leave and Club Brugge are interested but can't afford him and we don't want to let him go for a loss. Great stuff!
I think Dodi could turn out to be our most pointless signing. And he is up against some pretty stiff opposition.
