On a partly related note...If West Brom sign Krychowiak it's the deal of the summer. Easily.

We should sign him, we can offer him a bag skittles and a lucozade just like we did Gibbs.

Aren't you contractually obliged to drink Robinsons Barley Water, IBB?

Can someone remind Gibbs that this is what the man in charge at the club he is about to sign for said about him a month ago

"We won't be signing Kieran Gibbs," Pulis told Sky Sports. "We have to look for players that fit what we want to do and the way we want to play.

"We have three or four other targets we are desperate for. We are juggling with two at the moment and that's not Gibbs.

"Hopefully by the time we get back home we will have done those two."

Clearly for Gibbs it really is all about the money

No I'm not but if you work for Robinsons Keighley I will gladly retract my liking for Gatorade in favour of barley water.
In exchange of course for huge wads of cash,as much gold as I can eat and the entire back catalogue of Randy Newman on CD or record.
    Yours sincerely

Think we did right not to pay 75k but it does feel like this is a spanner in the works of our business. I don't blame Gibbs. West Brom have overpaid so fair play to him.

But it's not as if WBA hijacked him, we simply drew a line of what was considered a decent offer.

It's actually quite amusing looking at the first two pages of this thread and how it played out exactly as predicted. @Admin needs to give us the lottery numbers.

I've also been consistent about how much I hated the bench warming ****.

Rumour that Gibbs has failed the West Bromwich medical, being unable to eat the Bacon Cakes, Pease Pudding and down the 2 halves of Banks Mild workout test. He theory he could be back at the London Conley McDonalds tomorrow hoping to catch Gino before the start of tomorrow's signing fest.

Quietly delighted we're not having our lovely team polluted and contaminated by ex-Arsenal rejects.

How many left backs is it they reckon they have in front of him and whom they consider better than him at Arsenal? Three or four at least. They believe him to be "not good enough".

No, let West Brom have him.

He'll be third choice there too after Christmas probably and then loaned out to Bolton or somewhere....

I don't subscribe to the view that Gibbs is not a good left back, but his injury record is about as good as Daryl Janmatt. I suspect we didn't want to commit 80k per week to another player that keeps breaking down. Hopefully we have a plan b

West Brom medical focuses on a special device called a 'lumpaballometer' which scientifically measures leg muscle strength

I'm not surprised to hear he might have failed

He's the footballing equivalent of the Stone Roses. Still dining out on a reputation earned long ago, refuses to do Glastonbury as they don't pay enough stupidly ignoring the massive uptick in record sales they will get as a result of doing it, and still demanding top dollar for ticket sales for their concerts despite releasing no new meaningful material for decades.

Could it just be after spending much of his career on the bench WBA could offer him a guaranteed start as no 1 left back. Something we may not have been prepared to do. Holebas for all his defensive faults is a decent left sided player with far more experience than Gibbs.

Really surprised no one has suggested Almen Abdi.
Prem experience and played full back for us already.
    #bringbackthemagician

    And Gibbs can do one.
Who does he think he is going to the baggies just because he's guaranteed first team footie for £20k per week more than we offered?
    ****.

And his Second Coming will be largely ignored as he drifts down the leagues into anonymity... generally remembered for being **** at Reading.

Hope the money grabbing ******* enjoys living in the lovely Midlands as opposed to London. When you take into consideration the upheaval and the extra tax he has to pay on his increased salary (as opposed to what we offered) he can't NEED the extra money. But with saying that I believe WBA have done a good bit of business here.

    Certainly the way it appears.

But I suspect, in the end, this degenerated into more of an 'Iturbe" type situation, hinging on the players attitude, rather than a matter of value for money.

Gino wants players that want to be at Watford. Yep, some of them will be mercenaries, but professional enough to take the money and commit to the job.

There is nothing wrong with Gibbs going with the money as it is a very important factor. But when Watford have shown continued interest in him, more so than any other team, and have a roster of players amongst whom he would not stand out in terms of quality (either way) on similar wages to what he was being offered, then at some point you've got to accept that that extra bit of money is more important than playing for Watford.

Doesn't mean he's poop, but definitely suggests his heart may not be in our 'project'. Going to West Brom and finding out he's just one of thae boys will be good for him as a human being, but it won't necessarily be the making of him as a footballer.

Wouldn't say I'm glad he's not coming, particularly at £5m, but, as I have said from the start, neither am I the slightest bit dissapointed that he is not, other than that we still desperately need cover for Holebas.

Chalobah is the polar opposite to Gibbs, and could have flaunted himself on the market. Showing that money isn't the most important thing for all footballers.
