Maybe, although one message only suggests powerjugs rather than naming him. That could easily be a message to put PJ name up in lights with out actually naming him. As someone said, a cryptic message, which is clearly there to cause some confusion.

I don't think there is any benefit for the Seer to go cryptic, but to try to keep their messages as clear as possible.

For me at the moment it looks like MSG 1 is bollox and MSG 2 is from the seer

    Yeah true.

As an aside from the game, although I find the new site a little harder to use (especially on mobile), I think the new @ alert function and quote alerts may make this game a lot better to follow.

All we know is that both mentioned are probably good. We also know that whoever we pick, we are much more likely to find a good player.

Wolves tend to be the most quiet on day 1, so I'll probably opt for a random quiet player. That way, at least the game will be more fun going forwards.

    EdwardCohen is Moog, duh...

Seriously though, EdwardCohen has posted once on this forum to sign up to werewolf and not been online since. He'll be killed off if we don't hear from him, but I'll be a little more lenient with BigRossLittleRoss and Squibba if we don't hear from them as I know they are active on this forum.

I agree but as I said in my last post the second message may have been too simplistic, I suppose tomorrow will give us a better clue but of course that doesn't help us today.

Maybe, but simplistic makes more sense from a Seer's PoV than a Wolf's. As you say though, things will only really get going tomorrow onwards when we can start looking at the messages, who's still here etc.

Agree Otter, but there is no reason for the wolf to name CB as good once the 1st message named another villager as good.

Posting 2nd it basically gave them a free lynching by naming anyone else as evil, a eager and naive wolf maybe ? It could also be the reason why the wolf may have posted 1st. Surely its easier for the wolf to post 2nd or not at all on the 1st day ?

The first message is definitely from someone who's played this game before. How we begin to work out who has or hasn't is anyone's guess.

On a side note re: Voting, as the Polls aren't working yet (There's a race joke in there somewhere) I'm assuming it's the same rule as always; your first vote is final, or is it when the deadline is reached and you can change who you vote for between now and then? (What's vote cutoff time?)

I disagree - I can see why a wolf would post a second message naming a villager as good. It keeps us from knowing which message is from the wolf and which is from the Seer for longer. If the wolf names someone randomly as "evil" and they're lynched and proven to be good, that immediately shows us which was the wolf's message and we start looking for clues. So the wolf takes a calculated risk naming a random as good and giving us nothing to go on. This doesn't mean I think the second message was necessarily the wolf's - I have no clue - but rather why it could be so.

The first message isn't cryptic. It's a more creative way of putting it but it's crystal clear that PowerJugs is being named as good, as he was the only one who'd talked about walking his dogs. There's nothing cryptic there... unless there are some other clues hidden in the message that I can't see.

Incidentally, I'm not sure the author quite meant this line (freudian slip perhaps):

Evil doers I will alert when I know,

as read literally it suggests that they'll tell the evil players things rather than the villagers!

There's nothing to go on so no point voting off anyone active today. We might as well help the mods out and vote for an inactive player today.

For a day 1, this isn't actually that bad. We received both messages early, at least.

It does feel that we could jazz it up a little however - i.e. maybe having four messages instead of two.

Essentially we have a seer and wolf with experience. If you put a gun to my head and said name one muthafuka, I would say msg 1 would not be from a seer. Honestly, I can't think of anybody playing so egotistical or artistic to post that message. Who did the poems from a few games ago on the demise of each player?

Edit: just gone through the player list again and BRLR is the only likely candidate I can see who might have penned that first message. Its getting late here, I will be voting before most of you I'm sure but that's where my vote is heading for now

Isn't it a proven tactic to be as quiet as possible early on and hope to go unnoticed until the later stages?

My first thought was that it couldn't be the wolf as they would be giving away that they are experienced. But then the same argument applies for the seer.

I'm not sure an experienced player would give crucial information away. Which raises the possibility it could be an inexperienced player pretending to be experienced one.

We definitely need to wait for the second days messages, before making any accusations which could distract away from the messages however.

    It is for wolves.

I'd bet that the odds of catching an evil would dramatically increase if we targeted those posters who have only commented a couple of times today.

It will be interesting tomorrow to see what style the messages are in.
As Jugs said keeping quiet but not too quiet early is a good tactic that evil has employed countless times before.
I am erring towards 2 being the seer but that doesn't help us a jot. My reasoning is that it is simple and came soon after msg1 but that isn't much of a reason

Mike...I remember my first game quite vividly and it is not possible for an inexperienced player to pretend to be an experienced one when he himself has no clue let alone a plan.

Essentially we would get that if we all saved admin the bother and simply lynched EdwardCohen1969, who admin said had signed up for this forum and this game and buggered off.

Last game was my first, where I was a Mason but we lost members early on! Was amusingly confusing but being a Wolf or Seer must be really hard to manage, even with experience.
