2 and a half year deal for a player that is more than likely on some fairly big wages, personally would have preferred the 6 month loan with option to buy like the papers were originally saying. You also missed the bit off where i said hope he proves me wrong.

I missed it off because it is surely taken as read that as a Watford fan you want every player to do as well as they can?

I was just interested in why you think we've had our pants pulled down for the sake of a couple of million quid. I don't agree that it changing from a loan now with permanent in the summer to permanent now makes a massive change to the quality of the deal but that's just opinion.

Not worried about the cost of the transfer fee as that is next to nothing, just don't want another Mario Suarez type of situation happening again.

What situation would that be? A player signed and wasn't quite as impressive as we hoped, but then was easily shipped out at the end of the season with no lasting harm?

An old player who got a bumper contract but never played as he wasn't good enough.Shipped out to Valencia on a season long loan with option to buy, so he could return to us as he got a 4 and a half yr deal with us in 2016.

People get all worked over our signings being a waste of money, £2.3m is a pittance and if he doesn't work out we all know the Pozzos will make the money back on loan fees! Say what you want about their ability in the transfer market, they very rarely lose money on any player in the long run, however crap they turn out to be.

So we have signed him on a permenant 2.5 year deal not a loan!

However, as others have said £2.3m is peanuts these days. So even if he flops we are very unlikely to lose money, as we would probably be able to sell him on for a similar amount, but hopefully he will do a decent job for us and if he does he will be a bargain. Now lets get that other guy M'Baye Niang in and off load Iggy to China, then maybe we will start to score some goals and push for a top 10 finish!

I think if he fails he will loaned out to Udinese anyway.

Yes, or a loan fee/fees. In a years time although he will be 30, he will still have 2 or 3 years left, if in one year at 30 years of age he has been a flop, we could sell him, or loan him out a year at a time for £800k+ So one way or the other he pays for himself. Obviously the ideal scenario is he turns out to be good and we get a good player for 2.5 years so the £2.3m will be money well spent, if not we won't lose any money on him one way or the other. When it comes to players, the Pozzos do not panic or rush into anything, most of the flops we've had they've not rushed to sell them but loaned them out for which they get a fee.

Ive seen many gentleman of the age between 7-70 wearing tracksuits, not all were from up north and wearing Liverpool replica shirts. So clearly a sign that a may have seen him at one point and can vouch for the above statement.

    On these facts I'm in.

Very much looking forward to seeing Zarate in a yellow shirt.

We've got Spam at home next month, haven't we. That should be good to see.

Listened to his interview on the Watford website. Zarate reckons Forestieri told him all about Watford. Zarate's English seems pretty decent. Perhaps Wally can take a leaf out of his book, and stop using his interpreter. I'm now looking forward to seeing what this chap can do, and will no longer see him as our 2017 version of Steve Kabba.

Well, Zarate did play for a London club. Isn't Walt's problem that he tried to learn English from Brummies? How can you expect to learn any language if you're only using single syllable words, slurred from drink?
