There's a variety of reasons why we struggle in games. Keeping warm before kick off isn't one of them, that's a Sunday league mentality.

Looking at this in the cold light of day, this really did show how bad Liverpool were.

Time after time we gave them the opportunities and time after time they squandered them. If people like Lucas and Firmino can miss those golden chances we presented them with them with then it really shows that they have a long way to go to get anywhere near the top 3, 4 or even 5 sides in the division.

A decent side like Man City, Chelsea, Spurs, Arsenal or even Man Utd would have put 10 past us which just goes to show that this lot are still a long way off being anywhere near champions, and you’ve got to feel that Jurgen has a lot of work to do on the training ground in the next couple of weeks.

Also, their strength in depth looks pretty woeful and any injuries to their starting 11 will hit them really hard, having to rely inept players like Moreno to step in as cover!

Yes they are top now, but I can easily see them falling down the table and if they make the top 4 then I’d be surprised. They are probably in the same batch of also-runs as us outside of the top 5 (or maybe 6 if you include Everton), and come the end of the season will be fighting over the positions between 6th and 14th like the rest of us in the chasing pack.

I watched the game on TV and said to my Liverpool supporting brother "if this gets too one sided, Deeney or Behrami will put in a spicy tackle or 2 to try and gee us up!". You could argue they were in control of their emotions to avoid being sent off but no-one put in even one full blooded challenge to even get them to remotely think about not doing another little fancy turn, swivel or piece of showboating.

Liverpool were class though and long story short I went up to see them v WBA and you could see there in person just how good they are.

Is it just me who's really disconnected from this Watford side?

Don't like Britos, Behrami, Capoue & Holebas for starters. They all just look like some moaning *****. Typified by storming off after the match yesterday and not even acknowledging the fans who had travelled hours to come see them.

Now I'm going to sound like a hypocrite but for all of Deeney's boot giving and pandering to the crowd, I'd rather he had a good game once in a while and scored a goal. Can't remember the last time he looked like an actual striker. All his talk is wearing off and he's slowly being exposed as just an average lower Prem footballer.

Manager can't speak English, seems stubborn in his approach insisting on a formation that seems wrong and doesn't tend to make any subs I agree with. To be honest, Mazzarri is a showing a load of QSF qualities right now.

To top it all of, the football has been consistently shi*e for over a year as we repeatedly watch HOOF to Deeney & Ighalo up front and no attacking threat. I'm honestly buzzing for the international break so Success can return.

So yeah, a mini rant, I feel disgustingly entitled and spoilt but I miss the Zola season of 12/13 or the us under Joka when going to watch Watford was a joy. As I was stuck on the M6 doing 20mph for 30 miles I did wonder wtf it was all for if the players can't even try and give it a go.

A long but strangely enjoyable away day. Did anyone make it to the Sandon? A run-down labyrinth of a boozer full of Norwegian reds pouring beer down their necks in heroic quantities!

Yes, we got our pants well and truly pulled down by an excellent Liverpool side yesterday, but after 11 games we're 8th in the league. To those who find they're not enjoying this, I would suggest football isn't for you

    It isn't just you.

For the first time in 33 years of supporting Watford, I am wondering why I bother when so many players are clearly just going through the motions.
Mazzari needs to get a grip and make sweeping changes, hopefully our injury situation will improve to enable him to do this. The transfer panel also need to get some proper full backs pronto.

Gomes - Hope he is OK

Janmatt - Not a full back, play him advanced worth sticking with.

Britos - Very poor should be dropped

Kaboul - I'd actually stick with him, think he will improve. Looks like he cares occasionally.

Holebas - Think he is a bell end should be dropped, he didn't want to join us and shouldn't have.

Capoue - Lazy, stupid, underperfoming, should be dropped

Behrami - Past it , should be dropped. He can't even be ar5ed to get sent off these days.

Pereyra - Played out of position, we might as well have kept Abdi if we are going to play him out wide. Must be central and attacking.

Amrabat - The only vaguely bright spark at the moment

Deeney - Needs to be dropped, he usually responds to it.

Ighalo - Needs a rest, head not in right place.

Interesting to consider the Leicester line-up after the international break. Ideally Success and potentially Okaka will return, and with Holebas suspended, we could see a 3-5-2 with both Janmaat and Amrabat in the Wing-Back positions. Also, with success back, it should be easier for us to transition to a 4-3-3 later on in games. Plus, with the two forward players returning, Ighalo (and, dare I say it, Deeney) won't be getting a free pass into the starting XI any more.

Agreed, if you don't enjoy it the simple solution is to not watch it, there's much cheaper and healthier hobbies to fill your afternoons than supporting Watford out there!

Occupational hazard, I suppose. To be honest, there have been a few games in my time that I've come out of thinking "that's it, that's the last one." I tend to get over it by the next game, mind you.

I actually enjoyed the first few games of the season. I thought we were building an attacking side which would score goals from various parts of the pitch and would be fun to watch.

We've since morphed into a 3-5-2 version of Quique's team. Yesterday's performance is difficult to summarise as we didn't defend or attack. It was just all round ****.

I see that Wally wants us to play the 3-5-2 formation, but I'm not sure why - I mean, what is the driving ethos behind it? A formation is nothing unless the players know what they are supposed to be doing once they line up. At present, I don't think anyone has a clue.

I do appreciate that injuries are a factor, but I think that once again we've not recruited well and I think that is shown by the lack of options to which we can change once things go awry. Ighalo and Deeney are vile right now, but what is the alternative? Amrabat out of position? An unfancied kid from Liverpool (why ****ing sign him?)

As I say, I really hope we see a reaction after the international break, however, I suspect we'll see enforced changes for Gomes and Jolevas, but little else. I hope I'm wrong, but if I'm right, I will be making my season ticket available for resale for the remaining winter fixtures.

Yep I agree. It has been a long time since we've been so comprehensively humiliated like this though. What didnt help was that it was my turn to drive...Pissed, I wouldnt have given anywhere near as much of a ****.

But people saying "just dont go!" are completely missing the point.

Good post. Not that I agree with it all. I don't see Britos as one of the moaners and the 'the players didn't come and clap us' entitlement thing always comes across as pretty needy. And if Deeney is 'an average lower Prem footballer' then he's in the perfect place isn't he?

I think the bench looks very weak again, leaving Wally with few decent options. Most of the first choice replacements are already in the team because of injuries to the first XI. I actually quite like him. I think he's got the CV and experience to really mould us into an entertaining PL outfit and once he starts influencing signings - something he couldn't do much last year given how we know recruitment works here - and understands the nature of the league he'll be a big plus. Plus it's imperative we get some stability now and look to have a head coach in post for 3 seasons at least.

I still stick by the view I had last August. These first two seasons are all about survival. It need not be pretty or entertaining so long as we do it. At that point the £££ will have changed the face of this club for a generation and there should be no going back to the level we've inhabited in the past.

Sorry my point with Deeney was more all the talking he's done (notably the pre season interview on HP) about showing the big teams he's there etc. I think he won a grand total of two headers yesterday?

I know some will respond with bemusement to this but I've never seen him as that great in the air. He's good in physical battles but actually winning and doing something useful with the ball (control it or cushioned header on) with his head is rare as. As are headed goals.

    True.

I think Troy is in danger of "Joey Barton Syndrome". Needs to let his football do the talking.

Just to cheer me up I have encountered 4 LFC fans in the two and a half hours out today! All coming out of the woodwork.

Mercifully Hoddesdon is mainly North London supporters and they will be pre occupied with their own internal squabbles,I hope.:dismay:
