MOTD didnt even care about Bournemouth vs Watford didnt even talk about the penalty decision. Only mentioned Glen Murray and Gomes

Jermaine Jenas didnt even seem sure about Gomes - to paraphrase 'he does occasionally produce some great saves despite his reputation'

Haven't had many mentions on the Sunday lunchtime MOTD show..

Maybe shows we are going along nicely unnoticed and without any fuss.

We're actually getting more praise and credit on MOTD than we ever got on the FL Show last season when we were the best team on the show.

Deserve it too but just wait till it dawns on them that sooner rather than later the Pozzo empire will seriously threaten their status quo.

We were last on MOTD2 today, behind Man Utd's 0-0 draw.

    The highlights shown were:
    Deeney's penalty
    Norwich's only shot on target
    Ighalo's goal

Lovely balanced reflection of the game...

Pundits were, as usual, very complimentary of our start to the season.

Adam Smith deservedly wins goal of the month, if anyone is interested. Cracking goal, not a bad economist either.

My vote too. The ball was spinning when he hit it, it hit the post and zipped across the back of the net so it looked good.

He had time to tee it up tho'

Now if Chalobah' s rocket vs Leicester was a candidate it would have won goal of the season

Well yes, but that was shown in 2 Good 2 Bad for comedic effect rather than as a highlight of the game. If anything, it only goes to make the match look like Norwich were even more in it!

Yep, good comments made but they didn't show all Iggy' s chances but did show Narch' s ONE shot on target so highlights weren't a true reflection of the game.

Last week Capoue was on two good as they showed his nutmeg skills.

But agree we are gradually getting more plaudits ...

I'm just watching MOTD2 on iplayer now and I'll you what, you might hate Barton for all the right reasons, but at least he's a better pundit than most of them out there. He's the first one I've seen comment on how despite us bringing in 12/13 players in (his numbers, not mine), we've still kept the nucleus of the team that got us promoted. Who'd have thunk it eh, Joey Barton being the first outsider pundit to notice that?

When we played Man City a few years back up there , Barton was absolutley flattened by Mahon (i think) , crowd baying for a red etc , after the game he said its a mans game and thought it was a great challenge

    Hes ok , i reckon

Why does everybody decide to forget everything they once said about a person as soon as they say a vaguely nice thing about Watford?

Pol Pot: "I like Watford. They've really surpassed expectations this season, and a lot of that is down the the two guys up front. They're a real handful."

Watford fans: "Well he might have gone a bit far on occasion, but I think his social policies made a lot of sense on paper. I'm warming to him."

Who said we're changing our tune about him because of one decent comment about us? He's still a **** of one of the highest orders. It's just a shame that one of the ****s of the highest order seems to have a slightly better brain that others in the same field who are much less of a **** than he is

Unless it's one of the big clubs or a struggling team at the bottom then the pundits really have nothing worthwhile to say. It's a sign of how well we're doing that they just regurgitate the same waffle every week about what a good partnership Troy and Iggy are.

Pol Pot was a PSG fan. Surprising really - you would have thought that he would have supported Red Star. I doubt if he had ever heard of Watford.

Do you have any links/archived stuff? That all happened a few years before I was born so I didn't witness it first-hand, but would love to see some of the butthurt from the establishment.

It's well before the internet so you won't find much ... but needless to say we were "killing football"

GT's later appointment as England manager really riled the press too ... basically because they didn't choose him, his pedigree wasn't good enough.

Hah! We had a bit of that a couple of years ago with the loans.

I reckon some scans/transcriptions will be online somewhere, so I'll have a mooch.

I was only 6 then so I obviously wasn't following the press then, but as I understand it, didn't the real criticism from the press start when we beat Spurs at White Hart Lane in the November? i.e. the press didn't care too much that we beat a load of middle teams in the first few weeks and so what we were top for a week.

That was the precise moment it began. I was there and we won with a last minute goal. Tottenham fans tried to storm our end by leaving and coming in to our exits. The sunday mirror were scathing in their match report the next day, it was so bad I remember being shocked when reading it. To this day I've not forgiven them, (and they're still very much pro spurs and anti Watford). From that point it was longball Watford from everyone.

Probably ... mine's not a blow by blow account but I certainly remember the continuous hate in all of the national paper's sport pages throughout the season. As they say, success only breeds contempt.

Jeff Powell of the Daily Mail was a vehement opponent and was especially aggressive in his comments as I recall.

I have heard it mentioned that he was a big pal of Bobby Moore,so bore a grudge on his behalf that GT was appointed by SEJ instead of him.

I think Neil Harman was also a detractor,as he was then reporting football and hadn't taken his nastiness to tennis at that time. This may be incorrect however,as I REALLY dislike Horrid Harman, even before he was sacked for plagiarism. He knew less about tennis than he did football.Southend fan too,so had an axe to grind there as we were rivals in the 4th and 3rd leagues.
