The bookmaker would still pay out. If you threw your slip away, I suggest that you go to the shop where you placed the bet, the scanned slip will remain on their database. Give as much detail as you can about the slip and you may get paid.
The Ighalo goal being given to cahill is utter rubbish. I can't consider a deflection from half a yard to be an own goal, an own goal has to be more than that.
I thought Watson's was more of an OG than Ighalo's. Think the bookies are out of order, however, if Clive has money to fritter on betting then he probably shouldn't be on benefits.
Seems bizarre that a panel could give Watson's as his own while taking Iggy's away and giving it to Cahill.
First thought when I saw the replay of Ighalo's was that it was going a good few yards wide, and took a big, early deflection. No complaints from me.
Trouble is it's difficult to drop him when he's the only one seemingly capable of taking a set piece.
Needs a rest for a game or two. Hard to be harsh on him too much, one of the players of the season so far. ****e set pieces and holding onto the ball for too long tonight though, give Behrami and Capoue a go in the middle for Newcastle. Mind you I thought Behrami was awful too!
Behrami even though out of position last night was the only player continuously pressing last night - should be a shoe-in for Watson on Saturday. Watson has hit his ceiling and we cant afford to be carrying people now.
Shall I just go ahead and set up a thread for all 10 outfield players and we just b**** about each of them?
That'd be great thanks. Then just put a "he was ****" post on each. Didn't take long for some to go into meltdown. I mean two games, two effing games!!!!
Scoring twice from a corner is pretty impressive. Hes no David Beckham, but the likes of Abdi and Jurado, Holebas, Capoue have been terrible.
I'm a Ben Watson fan. His set pieces are brilliant. We've never been as dangerous at corners as we are now. The free kick that Britos almost scored from was pretty much un-defendable. He gets the ball into the danger area 95% of the time. Whether he has the ability to score direct from a free kick is a different matter as requires a little more finesse that maybe he doesn't have, though not seen him in training so he may be brilliant. I've seen the best free kick takers in the world hit it into the wall so no point assigning massive blame there. He's not had a massive amount of chances from these type of free kicks so hard to judge on the 1 or 2 that he has had. For the rest of his game you can't massively fault him. He's been brilliant tracking back, solid, doesn't get too much wrong. Definitely holding his own in this league and I'm glad he's part of the team.
I guess his career in general confirms he isn't great at direct free kicks? He's not exactly renowned for them is he? If Abdi was on the pitch I would want him to be taking those all day long, if not you would assume from the one that hit the woodwork earlier on in the season Jurado might be a better bet from a direct free kick.
Have to say Watson has been frustrating me for a few games now. People keep telling me he's consistent but personally I don't see it - he's certainly not a Gavin Mahon or Paul Okon level of frustrating, but I do think if you have someone in the team purely to be a rock (because he's certainly not adding anything going forward), they've got to be just that. Would've swapped for Guedioura at half time against Swansea to at least liven things up in the centre. I know not everyone will agree but I don't often single out players and I do think he's starting to prove to be a weak link
Watson has done well but the truth is we need better quality in his position. I am sure plenty of players can take corners of a similar type to Watsons,if not then what do they do during training? He should not be taking free kicks,he would be better in the middle getting on the end of a cross or corner just like he did when Wigan won the FA cup. if he does continue getting picked then it needs to be for good solid defensive performances, winning the ball back, making blocks etc and then giving the ball to more talented players. However,he does give 100% every game which is all we can ask for from all our players.
Benny Boy Watson The more I see him play, the more I love the guy. Realiable, consistent and makes the team tick. Good at set pieces, two killer crosses in the last two games. What is there not to love about him. I rate him right up there and if the season were to end tomorrow, would be my player of the season. I love you Ben Watson.
