Can't you see my point? ... Novak was more attacking and Murray won. You cannot fault the tactics.

People who don't want a response to their point should add "IMHO!!!!!!" to their posts, to avoid any confusion.

England has far better facilities, quality of life etc so that's obvious.

English girlfriend shouldn't matter. If I don't like Germany and I meet a German girl who's as fit as Kim I'm not going to kill her.

He's said several times at the start of his career how he doesn't like England and then phased that out when he was told to and then said he's "doing it for Dunblane". Now because of the sponsors he LOVES England and everyone in it.

People are so easily fooled, they really are.

All this talk of a knighthood is just beyond pathetic. SkyBet have even put odds of 2/1 on it happening before the next Wimbledon.

How carried away do people want to get?

I don't see how anyone can argue that he shouldn't be knighted. As far as I'm concerned it should already be in motion.

I thought he did alright whenever he came on last season, scored against Leeds away too. Why shouldnt he be knighted?... he s done more than Dame Judi Dench ever has.

Thing is with Murray there's still room for improvement. His serve sometimes let's him down and maybe he should come to the net a little more rather than rely on baseline rallies.

Fully deserves to be knighted. winning at Wimbledon after 77 years of hurt a massive achievement not to mention the win at the US Open last year.

It's ridiculous to knight someone during the middle of their sporting career, especially in an era where there are players still playing who have achieved far, far more than him.

Why is it ridiculous to knight someone who just won an trophy competed for by the best in the world, especially when the England football team have won the World Cup more recently, and people have been born and literally died of old age since the last British Champion was crowned?

Regardless of what anyone might think of him, he's the best British/Scottish tennis player of the modern era, and he's proven that handily. He's won a tournament British tennis fans have wanted to see a homegrown winner for since before most (if not all) members of this forum were born. It would be completely appropriate and absolutely deserved.

Because he is slap bang in the middle of his career and he is playing at a time where Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic are all still active and have achieved far, far more than him. Being called 'Sir' Andy Murray whilst still an active player isn't right and it'd almost be an insult to those other players.

Knight him once his career is over and he's undoubtedly got a lot more to back it up, not whilst he's a 26 year old, active player with 2 grand slams.

I really like Murray, but I don't think he should be knighted. That is ridiculous, and he also thinks he doesn't deserve it.

I think he should be given a target. Win 10 slam tournaments, stay at number 1 in world for 5 years, be kind to old ladies and make generous donations to charity.

And retire, then you can be a Sir.

A knighthood for being a racist? Nooooo

Can't we just give him an Island in the Outer Hebrides or a rock or something?

I hate the idea that you have to wait until the end of someone's career. Either you are saying that you don't think they've done enough, or you are waiting until their success has fizzled out and the knighthood becomes a reward for just sticking around for long enough.

The simple fact is that Andy is the best British tennis player in 70 odd years. The accomplishments of Federrer, Djoka and Nadal are irrelevant as none are British.

For anyone else who grew up celebrating if Jeremy Bates made it to the 3rd round of Wimbledon, you'd realise just how sensational and historic this is.

My opinion is either Murray gets knighted, or every other sporting knight gets their honour rescinded and no further knighthoods are handed to sportsmen.

There was no controversy when Hoy and Wiggins got knighted, but then one is a smiley, loveable nice guy and the other is a cool, mod styled geezer who everyone thinks would be a good drinking buddy.

Sean Connery and Alex Ferguson said he should also get a knighthood.. They are outstanding ambassadors to the queen and country and for the unity of Great Britain.

Phil "The Power" Taylor, Im told is statiscally speaking, the most successful sportsman in history.

Not seen him gracing the steps of Buckingham Palace recently . Not a darts fan myself but neither am I a particular fan of Dame Judi Dench either .

...and why we re on the subject, why is SIR Alex Ferguson held in such high esteem?

He's bought the title every year that Manu Utd has won it in the same way, Mourinho and Mancini did.

If Fergusons' Man Utd are so good how come they have never dominated Europe like any other so called great team should be able to say that they have done. ie Ajax, AC Milan, Barceona, Real Madrid, Liverpool, Bayern Munich.

Plus his nose is only one pantone shade of red away from a fully registered alcoholic traffic shouter.

The Queen is an avid darts fan , quite often she has been spotted after supper in the Inver Hotel , having a pint and throwing a few arrows.

I'm glad the boy won, it was a great match, but I'm not a fan of a sport that most of us are unable be competitive in without spending a kings ransom.

Are you talking about tennis (circa £50 for a reasonable racket and tube of balls) or yachting?

Not true, you can buy a racket for however much you want to spend, and join Grosvenor Lawn tennis club for £60 a year, then are free to enter the Watford & District League, it's free to register with the LTA and get entry to the BTM.
