Asambalonga (when fit) looks a decent championship player. Would you swap him or Forestierri last year for Ighalo Or this season in the squad in place of Success? Taking out the peaks and troughs of form, based on where we are now compared to where we were after the promotion, I would say the management of the squad has been pretty good.

If they were top half prem players we wouldn't have got them in the first place

In the Championship. And it's interesting to note that, when we were in it, he wasn't our first choice striker.

True, but there was an emotional club/player/fans bond with Fessi (rare with current crop) and I would've loved to see what he could do to unpick Prem defences playing in yellow.

Point of the thread is I think we have cashed in well at players peak, even if Owls fans think we were ar $e raped for Fessi fee.

Square pegs and round holes. Forestieri would certainly have offered more as an attacking midfielder/winger then Jurado, but may have been pushed out by Success, if Success is ever fully fit. I'd still want Vydra alongside Deeney rather than Ig. Abdi may have failed at Wednesday, but I'm not sure that Capoue is an upgrade (and not sure that he isn't).

For the rest, we have indeed upgraded. But whether the Pozzos were wise to pull the plug on the Heaton deal is open to question.

I imagine the likes of Duxbury, Dowling and our various head coaches had more to do with deciding which players to keep and sell than the Pozzos.

I'm sure that's right, but "the Pozzos" is shorthand for the entire regime that replaced the Bassini "administration".

Do they still think that? His purple patch is over and he shat on them a bit by putting in a transfer request.

I get the impression he's kissed and made up and been forgiven by most as long as he performs.

FF isn't premiership class and QSF would've barely given him a game as he is at his best when you let him do what he wants and where he wants, and there is zero place for a free role in a QSF team and arguably indeed in modern football - it's become a defend from the front and as a unit game. Which leads me on to Vydra who, I hate to say it, is a one trick pony and cannot head the ball, hold it up, track back, tackle and mark effectively, or indeed pass it very effectively. No place for him in our team.
Trust me, in my heart I would love to see both FF and Vydra turning out regularly for us in the prem, but IMO they're just not good enough.

But on the other hand would it not be better for business to have a few more success stories? I mean surely selling duds all the time can't be a good strategy?

I think if that keeps up clubs will find it hard to swallow the fact that we are selling players 'at their peak' More like players well past their peak.. & on their way downhill!

There are a few on here who think we should have sold 2015 success story Iggy for £30m to China when we had the chance.
    What would they offer now?
