I suppose the zombie plan would depend on whether the zombie infection is UK or worldwide. If it were only in the UK, with the armed forces becoming incapacitated then the plan would be to get out of the country. Go to Elstree or Cranfield Aerodromes and take a light aircraft. Even if it were a worldwide problem then you may want to take a light aircraft and fly somewhere which were less populated. However, if the whole population tried to escape to these places initially, and infected went with them (e.g. if the virus takes time to take effect) then these would be dangerous.

If the infection was UK only, your light aircraft would get a sidewinder missile up it's ass after about 3 minutes flight time.

Are we talking slow moving zombies that you can give a good kicking or the quick ones who you can't outrun?

I like the tree house option, the only problem is when they find you, they have nothing better to do than simply wait for you to come down (food can't last forever). Taking a dump on them would be the daily amusement.

Would need a whole network of tree houses that are connected together and a hummer for when you needed to go in search of food (on the ground)- no zombie would get you in one of them.

well i'd presume you would have to prepare for either. I always see zombies as fast and strong, but very very stupid. so you could outwit them, but they'd rip you to pieces in seconds if they catch you

The Will Smith zombies were crazy fast. Those were zombies right? The Resident Evil zombies were quick, as were the 28 Days zombies...the Shaun of the Dead and Dawn of the Dead (original) zombies were a little lethargic and looked like good fun for hunting.

Shaun of the Dead zombies looked relatively friendly to be honest, and even had basic gaming abilities.

Integration surely couldn't be too far away?

There is no such thing as a fast zombie. They were pure 'Hollywood'

Refer to my earlier post re:complete protection from the living dead.

In all the original zombie films I saw (not including a few of the more recent ones) they were very slow and unless you got surrounded or cornered, you could easily outrun them.

I reckon the best place to hide out from them would be in an castle or fort with moat and 10ft walls. When you needed to go out for provisions or whatever else you needed to stock up on, you could lower the drawbridge and run a few over whilst making your getaway. Unless they had siege equipment, which obviously they don't (plus they're stupid) you could hold out in the fort / castle for pretty much ever.

They would pile up in the moat and form a bridge of corpses.

well assuming that the infection is indeed caused by a virus and not some kind of supernatural phenomenom, then the zombies would not just pile into the moat because then they would die. they are stupid, but there is a reason you never see them just blindly wandering off cliffs and the such. they're not that stupid.

They would blindly wander in to the moat if they new that you were inside the castle, or off a cliff if you were taunting them from the other side!

They would not die if they fell in the moat, they are already dead and don't need to breath!

Then we're not talking about a zombie plan, but a specific virus plan, which is totally different. My training is all in zombies. If you want help with viruses, you'll need to look elsewhere.

They're still zombies but are contaminated with a virus (the explanation that could actually happen) instead of just re-animated corpses (a tad unlikely). A lot of modern zombie films use this (28 days later, shaun of the dead)

Alternatively, find a building where you can hide on the first floor and where its easy to demolish the stairs e.g. a house which has a flimsy spiral staircase. You'd need to board everything up but then if the zombies got inside - they wouldn't be able to reach the first floor if there are no stairs for them to climb.

I found this tip in the Zombie Survival Guide.

Zombies have incredible strength. They would break through the boarding. And those survival guides are designed for natural disasters. Designed to educate people about what to do in hurricanes, floods etc. They are labelled as "zombie guides" to have a wider appeal.

Zombies DO NOT have 'incredible strength', just that of a normal man, but are also severly hampered in the old hand-eye co-ordination department.

Zombies of course all come from a from a viral infection, hence why if you get bitten, you turn.
By the time you do 'turn' though, you are in human terms, dead.

This is something i think through alot when i get incredibly bored.

If i woke up in the morning and it was all over the news i would block the stairs with bookcases, wardrobes, what ever i could find, i would hide in the attic with all food provisions i could find and wait until zombies are stopped or moved on from my road to come down.

However in the case i run out of food i would use my cricket bat or golf clubs to raid neighbours houses to get more food and survive. Obviously using back gardens to get in. If i needed to get to a bigger town i live right near a train line which i could use as a discreet road.

I would also use the field out the back of my house to escape if needs be.

If i had time to prepare i would drive to my Grandads house because he lives in a small village (6 houses or so and a pub) use his furniture to barricade doors and windows and so on, hide on first floor but have immediate access to attic incase of zombies. I would also raid neighbours once out of food by breaking into his gun cabinet and using his shotguns as defence, im sure the pub down the road will have plenty of food/drink spare.

    Nice one, alby...

I was in the parts warehouse at a Nissan dealer in the rather blighted crime ridden San Bernardino area today, which had a security gate leading into the counter area with cinderblock walls, security gates, a small rest room with running water, 20' tall walls, and an area stocked with soda and food for the vending machines in the lobby and thought "this is a nearly perfect zombie bunker"...

Zombies cant swim so a small island would be ideal.
