Newcastle United boss Glenn Roeder admits Ollie Bernard is unlikely to play for the Toon again.

The French left-back is nursing a hip injury after failing to make a single first-team appearance since rejoining United in August.

Bernard now requires an operation which will sideline him for the rest of the season.

And with him only being on a one-year contract, the 27-year-old is set to be on his way again next summer.

Bernard is on an estimated £4000-a-week, meaning he stands to pick up just over £200,000 for a year of inactivity at St James's Park.

May have hip problem but do you think he would be any good in defence?
Maybe get him on a six month deal.

After initial potential at Newcastle at the beginning of his career, he seems to have become a sort of nomad footballer, turning up at a club for 6 months and then getting turfed out. My Rangers supporting mate absolutely hates him and said he lacked any passion, and was afraid to get stuck in. Not our type of player i am afraid.

At least Jordan goes out and plays for his money, he's not the best player in the squad but he puts in 100% effort every game.

Absolutley! If Jordan isn't good enough then fair enough, at least he works hard for his living and isn't a mercenary like Barnard! Jordan get's lots of stick but gets on with it and isn't afraid to make another mistake! Can't ask for anymore from anyone!

Can I just say that a few Saints supporting mates hated Barnard when he was at Southampton...lazy and arrogant...plus he wasn't very good either!
