Interesting site I stumbled across
Every Watford transfer (apparently, I haven't checked), ever.
some people just have too much time on their hands. Interesting resource to settle arguments though.

More interesting would be a YTD view of incoming and outgoing transfers including fees. Then we could do a pretty graph which would demonstrate to the mongs just how much money this club has received in transfer money in the last 4 years.
I'll hazard a guess.... £30million. (Where's it gone again?)

I C/P'ed into a spread sheet to see who had what scoring average. Obviously Chopra is top with 5 goals in 5. Then John Reid with 1 in 1. But in third place - which makes me understand why older fans see him as such a legend - Cliff Holton.
Cliff Holton apparently played 144 matches for Watford during two spells (58-62 & 65-66) and scored 96 goals. Thats 2 goals every 3 matches. Pretty impressive. Fopr comparisson, Luther Blissett played 415 scoring 148, a goal per 2.8 matches.

good point
i bet we have had £30m in but £20m out, going back to King, Carlise, Spring, Ellington, Sadler, Bromby, Shittu and some of Aidys other signings. probably only netted £10m if you take into account signing on fee's agent fees and all the other crap that goes with it.
Nak should know

I've just done a short list leaving out Chopra & Reid as they only played a few games between them: -
Name Played / Total Goals / Games Per Goal
1. Cliff Holton 144 / 96 / 1.50
2. Mo Johnston 38 / 23 / 1.65
3. Dennis Uphill 51 / 30 / 1.70
4. Dai Ward 59 / 31 / 1.90
5. Paul Furlong 79 / 37 / 2.13
6. Cyril Thompson 78 / 36 / 2.16
7. Colin West 45 / 20 / 2.25
" Marlon King 81 / 36 / 2.25
Some interesting names there, also many old heroes that do not even feature and quite frankly don't even come close to the guys listed above.
Sorry it did not come out the way I laid it out, but I hope you can understand it.

Neil Price only played 8 times for us? The way he goes on you'd expect he'd been a 1st team regualr for years!

It makes you realize what a potent dual force Holton and Uphill were - defenders just did not know who to mark. It makes you wonder what they would be worth today.
Incidentally two of my all time favourites show up well:
The `boisterous painter` Charlie Livesey who ran defences ragged at 2.46
plus the bruising hard Ron Saunders at a phenominal 2.16

no surprises there regarding Sheff Utd. Most of those will have been in the last few seasons.

Actualy the link is more of an historical one.
5 watford players moved to Bramall Lane in the 70's and a further 4 in the late 80's (4 have moved in recent times)
This was due to two of our ex managers moving on to the Blades. Namely Ken Furphy and Dave Bassett.
