Can't bloody stand the Rolling Stones.

Black man's music stolen, cleaned up and sanitised to make it acceptable for white audiences. Just the same thing as Elvis bloody Parsley did and made themselves millions from doing it.

Bet they paid hardly any royalties to those they robbed either.

Well all sorts really. I've just discovered Ella Fitzgerald. Why wasn't I told earlier? What a voice!

Also currently enjoying El Cazador Novato (The Novice Hunter) from Venezuela. Very comical and risque poems in the 'llaneros' style

From the Pearl of the Antilles - The National Septet of Ignacio Pinero*

And also revisiting a bit of Sean Paul. Some good. Some bad.

    * Yes I know there are only 6 of them. Ignacio was taking the photo.

I hope you aren't expecting me to join in this thread, as I'm "Down with the kids", obviously.

Thank you Clive. Superb stuff. Great sentiment. Even got the wee headphones out. A Stones original I believe though. As for 'nicking stuff off the black man', well I reckon they did that with the black man's blessing and have paid their dues. I detect a bit of Khajuraho erotic sculpture going on in the background there rather than the Taj Mahal. Closest I ever got to getting my end away in India. Well, with an Indian that is ... 😂😂

I wonder if anyone will like this. With a vague Rolling Stones connection again, this is Los Van Van ('The Go Goes' more or less) who are the Cuban Rolling Stones - they've been going since the 1960s and still going strong today, with the same director who is Juan Formell - the grey haired fella on bass. They are the number one Cuban band always.

The main singer with the big hat and big 'tache is Pedrito Calvo - the biggest 'mujeriego' or womaniser in Cuba. He is supposed to have 80 or 100 children around Cuba with different women, according to the speculation of Havana.

I also know very well Mundo who is one of the trombonists. I worked with his wife and we had a few snorters of rum together now and then. Very decent fella. So when this band blew away the Brixton Fridge you can bet that Cifriana and I were right up at the front.

This video is a bit strong and it is no wonder the director wisely pulls out to a crowd longshot and then immediate cut to a man emptying a wheelbarrow outside the Museum of the Revolution at 6:26. Quite right too. There are times and places for the Cuban 'foodmixer' style of arse grind, but considering there's a 7 year old on the maracas (as you see at 4:32) this was probably a bit much.

You can see a good example at 3:17. This is the exact same move that Cifriana did to me and that was my head turned. Now we are heading for 20 years together this year and three kids later!

I used to be massively into The Prodigy. But it all went a bit downhill when Firestarter was released.
    Before that, probably Level 42.

Like a bit of House of Pain, Aerosmith, Queen, Chemical Brothers, Chicane. The Orb, Underworld, Big Audio Dynamite. Bit of a mix really. Have been know to listen to a bit of classical.
I'm so old school I still buy CDs, but I'm a bit particular about my sound quality. Got a few SACDS and DVD audio discs. The multi channel sound is amazing. Love getting the double glazing moving when my neighbour is out.

Probably why I suffer from tinitus now.

Quite a stretch from Level 42 to Underworld and the Prodigy!

Going to see Kraftwerk in June. Can't wait.

Yep. Not really into any genre as such although house was what I was most into as a kid, I just appreciate good music as a whole.

Coming back from Darts the other night we had Alison Moyet on in the car. I'd forgotten how good she was/is.

Aerosmith. Oh yes! I have trouble hearing a few birds that sing in a higher register now. A development that I put down to a little known condition called 'Led Zeppelin ear'.

Being from the punk, new wave and pub rock generation I'm still a sucker for three minute, three chord pop songs like Anarchy In The UK.

When me and Mrs Keighley tied the knot, I did the wedding playlist. After the obligatory first dance, we had 45 solid minutes of punk/new wave: Buzzcocks, Jam, Only Ones, Ruts, Vapors, Undertones, Clash etc etc. Went down a storm with our guests!

I've recently been delving into some of the old folk-rock troubadours from the early '70s; Bread, Donovan, and, in particular, Jim Croce. Just gone out and bought a couple of his albums.

Well they could both knock out a record with a decent beat to get all manner of folk on the dance floor - often making appearances in the hit parade.
