Default What a great win on Saturday but i feel Zola needs to bring in...

i`m still jumping for joy what a great win
the c+p fans that i know are so gutted it`s untrue....but we must not gloss over the fact that our back 4 is at it again letting in silly goals we have done that for so many season`s now , i think we would of made the play offs last season if it was not for the way we defened...
we have had a few coach`s working on the back 4 in the past few season`s so it must be the players....
if we can add a few more players CB and a RB and get the loan forwards playing like they did on Saturday then wow what a team

Thing is, neither goals were down to a defender IMO. Taylor and Nosworthy have been excellent signings and were both good on Saturday, especially Taylor; Lloyd was very good and surprised me with how comfortable he was on the ball, and Dicko was decent for him but will be replaced by Pudil anyway. Having said that, we could do with having the option of a bit of pace at CB, Neuton would fit the bill perfectly.

First was a great turn and blast of pace from Zaha, and typical Eustace diving in, but he didn't have a great game in any respects.

Second was awful defending, Garvan just wandered through and toe poked it in..

I have watched that penalty incident several times now and from the camera angle it seems a perfect tackle to me. Eustace stretched, knocked the ball away for a corner first and then brought the fella down afterward. Perfect tackle in my view but no-one contested it at the time, which is always pointless and is history now anyway.

The midfield are there to protect the back four and they did this on neither goal. That's not to say we don't concede silly goals and another defender wouldn't help, it's just that's it not all the fault of the defenders.

I agree, the more I watch that tackle the more I think it wasn't a pen. It's worth pointing out our last two managers have been CB's so naturally would probably concentrated more on defence.

It's ok, he's quoted as saying that he has never lost when playing ipswich Town, and is hoping this changes tomorrow

I watched it a couple of times too and came to the conclusion that Zaha got the touch and then Eustace tackled him. On first viewing though I thought you were right.

In regards to the penalty incident, when watching it live I thought it was clear that Eustace got the ball. On seeing the highlights I thought it looked a lot more of a foul than from my angle. Now having watched it in real time and whilst pausing it throughout i'm convinced that Eustace clearly won the ball well before he took the man which was my initial instinct.

It was a definite pen. If you need proof, look at the eustace reaction. Nothing. He knows he's done wrong, he got on with it.

    But who cares? We won

I'm not up to date with rule changes but if the tackle was from behind doesn't that mean a penalty regardless of whether/when he got the ball?
