    Default Signings?

It's getting really worrying that as the new season approaches we're not being linked with any more signings. We're still 9 players away from a good team IMO and unless we get busy we're unlikely to stay up, let alone be challenging for promotion.

Thus far we've signed some journeyman, Carlos Kickaballs with questionable injury records.

If we're to survive a 46 game season I'd like to see at least five experienced Championship campaigners joining.

    Smith
    DJ Campbell
    A left back
    2 wingers

This is the bare minimum. Get your finger out Zola and get it sorted.

Waiting to see what he does with what he has brought in before making a judgement, doesnt seem to know his first team yet though.

Totally agree. Also, about Zola's new 'tactics'?! So far, they seem to involve tippy-tappy, sideways football with pansies more interested in their appearance than their performance. Get it wide and sling it in the mixer! You're not going to score by passing it AWAY from the goal! Unless there are radical changes on and off the pitch we're doomed, that's clear for all to see.

I wonder what you would have been saying about Zola, his style of football and the players had you seen us beat Barnet 8-0?

We had a bad day, in a crap competition that nobody cares about, at the beginning of the season, with a number of key players/new signings missing. We'll be fine.

I agree with all. What's the point in buying these players if they aren't going to be clogging opponents and lumping it up to big Chris. All these flash harry foreigners are just physically unable to compete on this league and will cost us points and ulitmately our Championship status.

I'm never sure who is joking on here anymore. You might not score that very second passing away from goal but if chuck it in the mixer more often than not you will lose it and then 1. You can't score a goal without the ball and 2. While they have it they can score a goal.
    Not rocket science!
A young quick Center back a winger and maybe another ball playing midfielder. Have we actually signed this Casetti as can't find any info

It's hard to tell what's sarcasm and what's genuine on here most of the time these days! I don't recall THT81 posting too many sarcastic posts in the past hence taking it as genuine. If it was Moog there wouldn't have been any confusion, everyone knows how seriously he takes his posting.

You don't win games from having the most posession. You need to score goals. All this tippy tappy and it was an old fashioned no. 9 who won the game yesterday. Swing it in the mixer and Big Chris will score. Play to your strengths.

Got a message for you, you're needed back in the 1980s where you're idea of football belongs.

Absolutely correct about scoring goals. However you have to be in posession to score so it is not brain surgery to assume that a team who has most posession will score most goals. There are exceptions of course. Big Chris did score, only just tho , unapposed from 2 yards , eventually.

What about Stoke? In recent times one of the most successful transitions from Championship to Premier League was made by them. They don't waste anyone's time caressing the ball around the back four, with prima donnas apologising to every patch of earth they scuff, wondering how much they're going to spend on their next shopping spree. They stick to the basics. Hit the diagonals to the big number 9, win the second balls and get stuck in to the opposition. Technique and tactics are overrated, and whilst Zola's approach may work in LolLiga or Serieously soft, but in a proper leagues like there are in England, passion, heart and desire is what wins football matches. How Zola doesn't know this despite playing in the Premier League for all those years is beyond me, and if he doesn't know now, then I don't think he ever will.
