    Default 7 Signings Confirmed

    http://www.watfordfc.com/page/NewsDe...865682,00.html

GIANFRANCO ZOLA'S Hornets have received a perfect pre-season boost with confirmation of seven new signings today (Monday).

Goalkeeper Manuel Almunia and defender Fitz Hall have both signed one-year contracts with Watford, while five season-long loans - all using the strength of the Pozzo family network of clubs - have been agreed.

Midfielder Almen Abdi, along with forwards Matej Vydra and Steve Leo Beleck, have joined for 2012/13 from Champions League Serie A qualifiers Udinese.

Granada pair Daniel Pudil, a defender, and striker Ikechi Anya, will ply their trade at Vicarage Road on loan from the Spanish Primera Liga club.

Hornets' Technical Director Gian Luca Nani is pleased with the additions, and says there is more to come.

"We expect these players to make a very positive impact on Gianfranco Zola's squad," he said.

"We are constantly looking to add quality here for Watford, and this is a task which will be ongoing throughout the season."

Biographies and career highlights about all seven men will be available soon here at the club's official website, watfordfc.com - as well as reaction from Hornets' Head Coach Zola

One year contracts for Almunia and Hall is a brilliant idea. If they flop badly we're not stuck with them, and if they do well we can extend.

They are also at that sort of age where even if they do brilliantly people wont buy them either

You'll get more too, exciting names in the pipeline. If we pull a couple of our targets off I'll be very, very impressed - more realistic targets than Inzaghi and Del Piero, but probably just as good in footballing terms.

If they do brilliantly, and somehow get better moves, they are now easily replaceable.

Fantastic to finally have it all confirmed. Now we can start to get REALLY excited for the season.

OS still managed to f**k up and call Anya a striker though.

After watching us play against cork I can say I was very impressed with abdi and pudil but no so much Beleck. Admittedly, he wasn't involved in the game much though. Anya looked like he was someone who could be a threat, although I was a bit shocked when I realised I'd seen him play for Halesowen town.

The 7 signings seem to be a great blend of experience and promise. And all positions in the side are being covered. By the law of averages, I guess we have to be prepared for 1 or 2 not being as successful as we hope..it's a rare manager who makes 7 signings and all succeed. Anya may well frustrate us with his inconsistency and Vydra is coming on the back of injury problems (like Big Chris last season who started the campaign undercooked)...but we are also getting a player with Champs League final experience, a player with 3 promotions to the PL and two full overseas internationals. We are still a Championship club and I hope and expect most of today's new players to be really decent additions in our division. Welcome to WFC!!

    Tantalising hint from Yellowkicks too!!!!

Hopefully one is a striker! Not in the doom and gloom camp but it's the one area we lack a really good proven successful player.

Excellent. All these players add quality to a pretty thread bare squad. I thought Zola said we'd sign less than people think. 7 new players with more to come seems quite a lot to me, although I'm not complaining. You can never have too many good players.

With the fantastic sponsorship news and now this, it's turned out to be a very good Monday afterall.

Probably just as good as Del Piero?

Or just as good as 37 year old Del Piero?
