I believe he was Aidy's last signing too?
No, Eustace signed in Jan 2008 and Aidy was in charge in summer 2008 when we signed Jon Harley and Rasiak. And then he signed Darren Ward and Mark Tyler on loan in 08/09 season before he was sacked. So his last signing was Mark Tyler on loan from Peterborough, who was our second keeper for a month or so!

Blimey that is outstanding memory! Didn't he play 60 minutes or so away to Sheffield United, get injured and go back to Charlton? Calum Davenport-esque!

That's a bit far, Loach has his flaws but he's still a better keeper than Lee.

It's just a shame as Loach could have been a lot better.

Could just be an initial 200k so we don't have to pay as much to Lincoln due to the massive sell-on fee so we could get more after one appearance or something

Even if we got money after an appearance, we'd still have to give X% to Lincoln.

Let's just face it, his value plummeted, Ipswich got us with our pants down.

Yes loach played. Apparently he made an absolute howler for scums 1st goal, and after that the defence were all over the place for the rest of the game.

Ipswich paid the going rate for a very average, Championship goalkeeper. We'll have a decent sell on clause in place in case he does finally develop, which he hasn't done in 2/3 years.

In an interview with Almunia he says something interesting:

“On my first day at *Watford, the captain, John Eustace, came to me and said, ‘We needed a good goalkeeper and we are lucky you are here’. That made me feel proud and good about *myself.
Tells you everything you need to know about what the team, or at least Eustace thought about Loach's keeping ability.

Didn't Almunia start training with the club after Loach had left?

EDIT: Just checked, Loach left on the 19th and the Wobby first reported talks with Almunia on the 17th. I'd assume that he would have started training with us when Bond and Bonham were our only keepers, rather than suggesting Loach wasn't very good.

It's what Eustace says though, not Almunia!
