    Default 45,000 Stadium for QPR

    Yesterdays announcement is ambitious.
Maybe it's is a bit of a wake up call for Watford as they are our nearest rivals at the moment.
Obviously Loftus Rd is no longer fit for a Premier League club but 45,000 seats is a lot of seats to fill for a
    similar size club to Watford.
I think that Premier League clubs need a stadium of over 30,000 to take advantage of
todays fickle premiership type fan. Also it could be a future ruling that you are only promoted if the ground
is a certain size. There are around 10 clubs in the championship already with capacities of over 30,000.

I hope the Pozzos are taking note.

You can't maintain a stadium of that size without decent transport links and off season revenue. Unless you;re a bankrolled club.

Oh. Even still you expect to see some fans in a stand behind a goal.

Agree, still crap support for their level but they can't help it. They were a small club in a rugby town who happened to get a very rich owner. If Dave Whelan had never come along they'd still be floating around the bottom two divisions.

Maybe we should consider a ground share?

I don't think there was an announcement. They shared a (very) few words about the new stadium when announcing Park' signature and there have been newspaper 'articles' saying QPR will be announcing it soon.

Watford could never fill a 45,000 seater stadium, even if they played in the Premier League for the next 10 years and were regulars in the Champions league.

I do however think that if we become an established Premier League side. then a capacity of 26-28,000 should not be out of the question. Our current capacity is 18,531. Once the East Stand is developed that would increase to 23,531. It would be possible to add a tier to the Rous and you could also use the NE corner for seating.

That would give us a total capacity of 28,000, which is an absolute maximum on the current site.

It would actually be a very nice stadium if all this work was carried out and would address all our needs. Do not rule out a stadium relocation though, especially if they are not going to do any major development works until we gain promotion. The Health Campus project may find it beneficial to buy the current land owned by the club, but this is pure speculation.

The Rookery is also ready for another tier if required
