    Default UEFA and Platini (again)

Platini says the Euro 2020 championship could be spread across Europe rather than being hosted by one country. It sounds exciting but is there any thought given to the fans that actually go? The costs would be huge!

I think Platini is a lot more ridiculous than Blatter, he's a moron.
Some people assume I think the world revolves around me, which, of course is complete and total nonsense, the world revolves around the sun which shines out of my arse...

Is this prat trying to get more votes at the next UEFA presidential elections ?

More host countries means more votes for moi ? How could hard pressed fans travel from city to city anyway ? Typically engage mouth before brain moment from the next, yes FIFA president-elect.

His two idiots behind the touchline have proven to be a complete waste of time. Ask any Ukraine fan.

Maradona had a couple of nice quotes about Pratini:
'thinks he "is better than all the rest' and 'We all know how the French are, and Platini is French, and he believes he is better than the rest'.

Would this also mean that all the hosting countries get automatic qualification too ? It's simply amazing how many incompetent buffoons sit in the highest offices of football.

Money of course never played a part in that or indeed any decision NH. I wonder how many petrodollars wangled they way into secret accounts from Russia and Qatar.

The Argentine press have already alleged the AFA president another moron called Julio Grondona received a hefty payout, and when you look at some of the other notables from Brazil like Teixeira, Uruguay and Africa well......

Pratini's new idea is for all the Gulf States to hold matches. Forget about the oppressive climate and the anti-environmental amount of energy it will require to cool stadia unless they invest in huge solar stations.

A few corrupt Russian oligarchs will get all the infrastructure contracts aided and abetted by Abramovich and as usual as in South Africa the so called ordinary people will get nothing at all out of it.

A Polish friend of mine said she was extremely annoyed that while many services are struggling in Poland the government saw fit to spend millions upon millions on stadia.

You could almost compare that to London and English taxpayer stumping up for the olympics which will cost more to host than the revenue it will raise.

A bit divergent from the topic NH, but they say it will break even and make a small profit. But then again they are the organizing committee and have said all sort's of things in the past which sometimes have proven to be true but many times have not.

It remains to be seen if both host's do actually benefit from it. The clubs with the new stadia are delighted of course but will it promote tourism ? So far visitor numbers are down on what they expected, hardly a surprise with all the stories emanating from the two countries and sky high hotel prices.

Which is the case here. Such establishments and certain private individuals will do rather nicely out of the Olympiad.

Since when was hosting the Olympics a proift-making venture?

I'd argue it's a bit different. Despite the challenges the UK economy is facing, South Africa has millions of people still living in poverty, a massive AIDS problem, a developing democracy, tribal rivalries and other challenges which are massively bigger priorities.

The Olympic stadium and many of the other facilities will be put to use well after the games has finished. What's happening with the 50,000 seater stadia they build for WC's and Euros in countries with no real capacity for domestic football.

With regards to Qatar and Russia, I laughed when the former proclaimed that they would offset all carbon to make it the first ever carbon neutral world cup. Paid for with what? Cash from carbon intense oil sales. It's perverse.

The problem is who would come with us. Some associations would like too. America, Australia, and there have been murmurings of discontent from Germany, Italy and Spain but no one else.

But no one is going to be the first one to split away. Germany with Rummenigge have always been quite careful about what they say in public and it won them a WC in 2006.

The other major teams that provide an attraction at the World Cup like Argentina, Brazil and once again Uruguay are run by FIFA die hards who are grooming their sons to be their sucessors. Similarly in Africa and Asia.

Blatter has done a very good job in providing largesse to smaller associations in order to buy their loyalty. All we'd end up is being outside in the cold. Which could lead to permanent isolation or may induce a bandwagon effect.

It would be sad to see a split in international football as we've seen to a deleterious effect (not that I am a fan of these sports) in boxing. But the idiocy and sheer lack of common sense amongst the rulemakers in these bodies does stretch ones patience.

Pratini the gentleman footballer as he was known , and contradictory to his professed desire to clean the game up of it's nastier elements, in blatant disregard of his own RESPECT campaign , defended Samir Nasri (that odious scroat) for attacking with very vulgar language a French sport's journalist at a press conference.

What sort of message does this send out to aspiring children ? What if he'd been attacking Thierry Roland ? Would Pratini change his mind ?

His own personal nepotism is worrying. A minutes silence for said and well respected football journalist before the France- Sweden match but not aceding to a request from Spain for Miki Roque and if you watch the game having all Spanish black armbands removed at half time.

Because it wasn't sanctioned. These petty bureaucrats need to look outside of their ivory tower and address the pressing issues in the game. Their complacency could lead to the ruin of the game.
