OFFICIAL: THE HAPPY EGG COMPANY TO SPONSOR HORNETS
Posted on: Fri 22 Jun 2012

WATFORD FC is pleased to confirm the happy egg company as its new Official Club Sponsor for the 2012/13 season.

The happy egg logo will feature on the Hornets' new Puma produced replica kit, after the UK's largest free-range egg brand signed a one-year agreement with the club.

The fit between the Hornets and the happy egg company is an appropriate one as the company has been based in Hertfordshire for many years, initially as Deans Foods and more latterly as Noble Foods.

The Dean Family started the business back in the 1920s - packing and selling a small amount of eggs into local grocery stores and supermarkets in the south.

They had a clear vision and did not just see themselves as egg packers but as innovative egg marketers. It was not long before the business expanded and began to acquire other companies.

The happy egg company is just one of a number of brands operating under Noble Foods.

Watford's new 2012/13 replica kits will feature a unique QR code on the sponsor's logo, once scanned via a mobile device, it will link straight to www.thehappyegg.co.uk - we believe this is a first for a sponsor on a football shirt in the UK.

The partnership between the happy egg company and the Hornets is already a well-established one.

Various awards at the club's End of Season Dinner over recent years have been sponsored by the happy egg company and they have also offered strong matchday support by taking out sponsorship packages.

Raj Athwal, Watford FC's Commercial Director, said: "This is a real partnership which sets Watford FC at the forefront of shirt sponsorship as demonstrated by the QR code concept.

"The good people from the happy egg company are already familiar faces to many at Vicarage Road and they've long been supporters of this club. They're a local business looking to support their local club.

"I would like to thank them for their support and I look forward to developing a number of initiatives with them over the forthcoming months."

Steve Horton, Marketing Director at the happy egg company added: "We are delighted to become the main shirt sponsor for Watford Football Club for the 2012/13 season.

"The Hornets are our local team with an excellent reputation for being a family club so we feel this partnership is a natural one for us.

"We wish the manager, team and supporters every success for the coming year."

For further information on the happy egg company please visit www.thehappyegg.co.uk

The Hornets' new replica strips will shortly be revealed, while the club will also soon be taking pre-orders for home and away shirts.

It's a bit low rent isn't it? A bit naff? a bit lower division?

There are certain companies you don't mind sponsoring you: electronics, large financial sector companies etc.

but a food producer? the happy egg company, happy egg!

Eggscellent news. Glad it's no yoke.

The cricket team I support are sponsored by Blackacre Farm Eggs so a recurring theme is developing here in my sporting life!

Is this Bas getting his own back before he scarpers.

Could we just get away with TBEC for short on the kit -- I may consider buying it then. Just when you thought great, Puma make nice kits we get this

QR codes. 2009 technology that isn't going to catch on. There was a brief flurry of excitement in the magazine publishing industry a couple of years ago because they thought smartphone users would go round scanning stuff in magazines and on posters to access online content. Hasn't happened. Isn't going to happen. No one wants ugly great distorted barcodes all over the place.

It's telling that the sort of people who have since got very excited about QR codes are train companies. "Hey guys, scan in our QR code and get news of the latest delays straight to your phone, yeah?"

They may as well say the club's season highlights will be issued on BetaMax or VHS, or even DVD, seeing as the end is nigh for that too.

Won't be so bad in Italian

    Il Uovo Felice

Still, better than legalised loan sharks (Blackpool & Wonga). That really would be shameful.

Seriously Reconsidering buying the kit now!! Would rather stick with Burdda, which is a shame as I was looking forward to the puma kit!

No, no this could really work - get rid of 'Johnny Todd' and replace it with:
