No it isn't naff. It's a reflection of rural folk art in that part of the world.

What is truly naff is the ghetto graffiti inspired crap of the London Olympics.

Here's an illustration of all the world cup logo's (couldnt find one for the euro's) since its inception in the 1930's.

I'm not sure there has been any real stand out ones but i quite like the simpler designs like Argentina 78 or Spain 82.

    It's bloody awful!!!

It looks like it was produced by a four year old at a play school, and they probably paid a marketing firm hundreds of thousands for it

Well as you have no conception of the folk art of the region......

As for the last part of your statement that only applies to project's in this country like the Olympics with it's appalling logo, team liveries and so and so forth.

I doubt very much even Danny Boyle will be able to create an opening/closing ceremony that isn't an embarassment. For reference witness Boris Johnson wiff waffing at Beijing alongside fellow mediocrities Leona Lewis and David Chavham.

This is my take on it

Its a visual lead from wycinanka art, a traditional form of paper cutting practised in rural areas of Poland and Ukraine. The wycinanka art form symbolises the fauna and flora of the local regions in a tribute to mother nature, representing the worship of the land and true respect for continuous growth, prosperity and fertility.

In what way is David 'Chavman' as you have so snobbily put him in any way mediocre?

He is one of the the finest sportsmen that this country has ever produced and has acted tirelessly as an ambassador on many different occasions.

Have you even been to San Francisco? It's completely non-representative of that great city.

It's just a really nice looking logo, which I think gets better the more I look at it.

Notwithstanding the relevance due to the folk art, it looks good, it's simple enough to represent football at a glance, but complex enough to merit longer study, with the flowers and the human figures waving arms in celebration and worship.

Looking at Olympic, Euro and World Cup logos gone by, it's one of the best I've ever seen.
