Default 25/02/2012 Championship WFC 0-3 Southampton

Watford host second place Southampton at Vicarage Road on Saturday fresh after a 4-0 drubbing by Crystal Palace last Saturday. Southampton come into the game after beating Derby 4-0 on Saturday, the same result Watford lost at St. Marys. Judging this the omens are not looking to good. Watford are strong at home this season whereas Southmapton are not as good away. Watford could give a debut to Tomasz Kuszczak, who signed on an emergency loan from Manchester United, who would naturally come in for Scott Loach with Loach dropping to the bench. Marcello Trotta, who has signed on a youth loan on Thursday is also pushing for a start. It is not known yet whether Deeney or Murray will be fit to play with both missing the defeat at Selhurst Park. Watford are still without long term absentee's Martin Taylor and Stephen McGinn who are slowly but surely recovering from their injuries. There are no new injury concerns for Watford. Hopefully the defeat at Selhurst Park will not be repeated and the defense don't have another mare.

Southampton team news to be updated shortly. Rickie Lambert, the league top scorer, is expected to start against the Horn's as is Tandarnari Lee who opened his account in England with a fine goal against Derby.

    Expected line-ups:

    Watford:
    Kuszczak
    Hodson
    Marriappa
    Nosworthy
    Doyley
    Murray
    Hogg
    Eustace
    Kacaniklic
    Deeney
    Trotta

SUBS: Loach, Dicko, Yeates, Buaben Garner/Iwelumo/Massey

    Southampton:

    Davis
    Harding
    Fonte
    Fox
    Hooiveld
    Schneiderlin
    Cork
    Chaplow
    Lallana
    Lambert
    Lee

SUBS: Martin, Sharp, Puncheon, Hammond, Connelly.

    Score Prediction:

I can't see Watford winning here, we will be brushed aside with ease. I predict a 3-0 to Southampton I'm afraid. I would happily take a point though

See you lot later I'm off for a mates 21st back on Sunday!

m going to go out on a limb and say we are going to win this 2-0. We stopped Spurs scoring, anything can happen in this league, Goals from Eustace and Murray.

With Kuszczak in goal and Deeney and Murray fit to play, I think we have every chance of getting something from the game. I predict Kuszczak to keep a debut clean sheet pulling off some cracking saves and we win 1-0 thanks to a Deeney strike.

However, if either Deeney or Murray are not fit to play I don't think we will have any chance of winning and will get beaten 2-0.

Good pre-match write up as always Dom. Do you recall what happened the last time we lost 0-4 away to Southampton Not predicting we will win 7-1 of course, but with the new confidence Kuszczak will bring and the expected reaction after the Palace debacle, I'm thinking it will be a much closer match. Don't expect too many goals though. I predict 1-0 to Watford, but the odd goal could just as easily go the other way.

Cheers mate, I don't recall the 7-1 as it was 11 years before I was born . I wonder how Kuszczak will get on with the defenders, he has has a good couple of days to get to know the defenders I suppose. I would love it if we got a win, but I can't see it.

We were terrible at Palace last weekend and the turgid crap we served up down at St Mary’s earlier this season is one of the worst Watford performances I have ever seen, however I have a good feeling we may roll them over on Saturday.

Maybe it's just me, but it's always very satisfying to beat Southampton. Always got the impression from a few visits to the city and football ground that they have a bit of a chip on their shoulder.

That being said, I think we'll lose. Hopefully we put up more of a fight than last weekend. And we all expected Leicester to slaughter us.

Southampton are a team we really should be beating IMHO. Rickie Lambert is not a good centre back, and Jamey Ashdown has been similarly weak this season. We should look to exploit these two come Saturday.

it looks like from that post i'm a saints fan but i'm not. as you'll see i'll predict 4-1, 3-0 or 4-2 loss almost every week for watford even if they are much more likely to draw or win

Spot on. Having the misfortune working with them and living down that way, they are a bunch of c**ts. They think they're a Premiership club when they're only really a decent Championship club.

I hope we smash them Saturday. I think we'll sneak it 2-1.

I think you're pretty close with that, but I'd replace Buaben with Eustace.

Agreed, if Murray hasn't been called up the the Rep. of Ireland under 19s with Connor and Tommie it would suggest that he's still not fit. Unless he's getting bumped up to their under 21s?

Remember a good trip down there in the promotion season. Think Mahon got himself a couple of goals in a 3-0 win, and the locals tried to storm the directors box. Decent atmosphere in the away end that night.
