I can't speak 100% in the knowledge he's picked them, but from what I understand after having some brief talks with us via agents last week, he's been speaking directly with Cardiff since Wednesday and they seem to have agreed terms now.

well as others have said, maybe now we will get someone younger in who can offer a bit more in the long term. for what it is worth i still think smithy would do a cracking job for us.

I said a couple of days ago that if we didn't sign him it would be a monumental c0ck up from the club and I'm afraid it looks like that is exactly what it is.
A fee had been agreed and Tommy had his heart set on leaving QPR and coming here. We took our eye off the ball and once again Malky swoops in.
Seeing him and Heidar in Cardiff shirts next season will be difficult.
Don't you think that the fact that his mate Heidar went to Cardiff was a big factor in him wanting to go with him?
Seriously, who cares? He isn't the player he was when he left here for pompey. He was in his prime then, he isnt anymore. DJ Campbell would be a better player to have of the two. Abdi is a better player than smith and plays behind the striker, so we have better solutions than smith. DJ Campbell showed at Blackpool he is capable of goals at any level and would fit into our system. I'm not losing any sleep over this at all.
Can't blame him. The extra £1mil he's likely to get from selling his soul is almost certain to be his last big payday, most sensible people would choose financial security for their families in the long term over two years at a club you prefer.
Think he would've been a good signing, but it's not like we don't have other options. Just need to keep fingers crossed that the unknown we'll probably end up with can become a new Smith.

Agree, don't get me wrong I would have been happy if he'd come back (and it may well have given the fans a bit of a lift), but if we miss there are other players. Loyalty is for the fans not players and they will always put wages above anything else.
