    Default young players have regressed?

Sean Dyche's view on why he hasn't been playing the young players we saw last season

    http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/spo...ssed_/?ref=rss

Gavin Massey never featured massively in the first team last year and I'm pleased that he is doing so well for Yeovil. Thompson had a good loan spell and Bennett seems to be following along the same path. However, I thought Whichelow was excellent for us last year, he really turned games around for us, S****horpe was the major game that pops to mind. I get the feeling now that because he has not included them in the squad and not even on the bench that he is at fault for these young players regressing. Anyone else feel the same?

Of course we don't actually know that they have regressed, but I would agree with you that due to Dyche not using them it is quite possible that they have

So the young players who played a big role in us being relatively successful last season, are not good enough to play for us this season? And doing well for the first team, actually made them worse?

More gems from Dyche. We've definitely not "regressed" this season.......

Yes, getting worse players in, to fill the side and perform badly was definitely the tonic we needed to progress.

Dyche is bein clever....hes usin reverse psychology...by bringin worse players in, hes sayin to the better players 'This is how
bad you/we will be, unless you listen to me'.....I think its genius on Dyches part........

Interesting...presume he didn't say this to Malky when Mackay was here though?

At least we've got some sort of reason as to why the youngsters aren't played..even if its a rubbish one!

What evidence does Dyche have to say the youngsters have regressed when he hasn't even given them a chance in the first team this season. It may be that they don't understand what system we are trying to play.

Also the youngsters are not going to learn anything from the dross that has taken their places in the first team squad.

To be fair to Dyche (although god know why I would be!), a big factor in all this is the new 5 subs-only rule, so we've less opportunites to put youngsters on the bench with the possiblilty of time on the pitch. Malky generally had youth AND experience on the bench. Now we don't really have that option.

I'm pretty sure we'd have seen less young players going out on loan if we still had last season's 200-or-so subs rule. I personally would have kept Matty & Thommo at the club & on the bench having said all that.

Yet again when we are doing badly, people start over-hyping the youngsters as if they're saviours. Last season would have been very average had it not been for the 8 game winning run over the new year period. Whichelow only started one of them and made about 20mins of sub appearances over the rest put together. Hodson played 0 mins of those games, as did Thompson. They featured more in the latter part of the season, where we won 4 games in 4 months. In truth Dyche is right to be loaning these players out and getting them experience, its just the players hes brought in to fill the first team thats the problem.

Graham, Buckley and Cowie were the players making things happen, not Whichelow, Thompson or any other kid people are touting as the answer now.

I'm not exactly pro-Dyche but its getting boring when people talk shiite about anything to turn it into a negative about Dyche.

I think you will find Hodson played 9 games at the start of last season which we only lost 2 and got taken out of the team when Andrew Taylor came in on loan, get your facts right and those first games were important especially the first game away to Norwich.

People are re writing history, probably the same people were booing some youngsters last year, have some patience, and support watford - dont rip it to shreds
